  1. Welcome, Peter. When we didn’t have our Oliver we stayed once at Fall Hollow (great breakfast!) and once at a B&B at a local winery. That was about 5 years ago, not sure what is available today. If you’re going to camp on your way home be sure to bring what you’l need to do that. We had a truck load of stuff to camp with a couple of weeks on our way home. Bedding, kitchen items, grill, chairs, etc. Recommend camping close to Hohenwald the first few nights, there are lots of good options. If you have questions during the process you’ll get lots of answer here. Good luck! Mike

  2. Nan, Understand how you feel and we were initially frustrated, too. We purchased Ollie used 2016 and first camping trip had leaks from top dinette window. The dinette window leak was coming in at the porch light (old style light fixture) over the dinette window. Resealed the porch light and leak stopped. Another leak was coming in at the Oliver sign over the rear window and travelling between hulls and dripping out of the rear window onto curbside bed. Removed rear Oliver sign, resealed and no more leaks in that area. Once these leaks were fixed, have not had other issues with these areas. Since our leaks were repaired we towed through the heaviest rains we have ever seen and one night a tornado passed not too far away with heavy rains without any leaks. I believe campers will eventually leak, but when you get the leaks fixed on your Ollie, you will find Ollie to be a wonderful camper.

  3. Just saw this in the Oliver FB forum. Looking forward to learning more about this!

  4. I politely disagree. That you can run the ac off lithium, even for an hour, is far more than I can do with two group 27 agms. He never said you could run it 24/7. And, I'm sure there will be qualifiers. Amps to amps, useable, if I replaced my agms with lithium, I could safely discharge to 90 per cent. I try to keep my discharge at 25 per cent on agms, to extend the life. Even if I go to 50 per cent on deep cycle agms, I would double my capacity with lithium. I work with lithium at the house. I won't upgrade my agms in the trailer til my agms die, but oh, I would love to. In my little trailer, I doubt 3 would fit in the tray. But, even two would really expand my battery power. Everything comes with a price. In the case of lithium batteries, it's a sizable one. I wouldn't opt for them, unless you were like us, camping off grid, virtually all the time. If you have access to power cords most of the time, fla or agm is fine, cheaper, and quite efficient. Imo. Edited to add, we rarely use ac, because we can't, without power cord. What would be great for me, is being able to run my fridge, charge phones, and use an inverter to run an induction hotplate from my battery. Everything changes. Evolution. Sherry

  5. Peter - I'll also add my welcome to you. Don't worry about lack of Forum use - you'll get better the more you interact here. The most important thing about picking up your Oliver is to enjoy yourself. All the other stuff can be learned - which is half the fun. Review as much as you can here on the Forum before you go and specifically take a look at the Oliver University for your model of Ollie - https://olivertraveltrailers.com/oliver-university/ AND, if you have not viewed it certainly take a look at the what to expect video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TES5Qhr7DQc Finally, let all of us know how it went for you and if there is anything we can do. 6. Assuming that Oliver is using the LFP version of the Progressive Dynamics charger, which is 80 amps, then that charge time suggests ~300 Ah total. I doubt you’d get 4 hours of AC off that except in absolutely ideal conditions. Probably 2-3 hours is more likely. 3 100Ah batteries is what I’d expect, since they’ll fit easily in the battery tray.

  7. The unit was at a Rally. According to Phil's video it has 2 (maybe 3?) group 24 batteries. Supposedly they will run an ac for up to 4 hours, run time. The batteries supposedly will charge from flat to full charge, in 4 hours. (Said will release in a couple of weeks, as they are "fine tuning" the specs?).

  8. Slightly off topic but this idea can be used even for the awning support pole guide lines/tie down lines as well as for the Clam. I've placed these "bungee hooks" at the end of my Clam's tie down lines to help absorb some of the shock caused by the wind. This started back in the old tent camping days but has always been very successful in keeping things tied down and the bright color of the bungee helps keep everyone on their toes, so to speak 🙂. https://www.amazon.com/Vispronet-Pieces-10-75in-Heavy-Duty-Bungee/dp/B074TY6C38/ref=sr_1_202?dchild=1&keywords=bungee+hooks&qid=1590843251&sr=8-202 Note: The ones I have are only 6 inches long, are red and I've usually found them at Ace Hardware. Sorry I could not find an exact picture.

  9. I hate myself for saying this but - Time Files! Seriously, it really does. During the three months of waiting you have a bunch to do (besides dreaming of all the great places you can take that Ollie). The Oliver University is a great place to start and since you are already here, there is a bunch of information contained on this Forum that will help ease you into the Oliver world. Welcome and please do not hesitate to ask questions along the way. Bill

  10. We came from Texas which was only about 700 miles to Holenwald and were able to carry what we needed in our Crew Cab full size pickup. It as truly loaded, but only had to go to Walmart three times to pickup things that we didn't bring after picking up our trailer the first day. Probably didn't spend over $30 in all three trips. We were coming from a Casita, so we have always been able to travel somewhat light and new just about what we would need to work our way back to Texas over a six day period. I really wanted to get back home to make those improvements to the trailer that I had already collected and we waiting for me to install in my shop. You can stay a Oliver for a couple of days if you want to settle in after the long trip there, they have hookups and like you said a Walmart and Tractor Supply are close by. We did opt for the Davy Crockett State Park stay for two nights which we found very nice and the town is much larger then Holenwald and offers more dinning and shopping if needed. I think you got it figured out, so all should go well. trainman

  13. In the Ram you should be able to turn off the Auto wiper mode in the Settings menu. This is for 2017 but I expect it is similar for your new truck. Enable or disable rain sensing wipers On my 200 the default cruise setting is Radar, whenever you turn on the switch. To go to a normal type you push the stalk forward and hold for two seconds. Unfortunately it doesn’t remember your choice so every time you turn on Cruise you have to do it again. Normally I leave it on Normal for an entire trip. Toyota USA - I prefer to choose my OWN speed, thank you very much! If somebody is going slower I just want to go around him, not slow way down and poke along watching his rear bumper..... 14. LOL my Land Cruiser had them, and they were awful. They were either too delayed in starting, or the speed was all wrong. I disabled them after a month. Fortunately it is very easy- you just unplug the wires to the windshield rain sensor and tuck them up into the front lip of the headliner. I wish there was an easy way to disable the darned adaptive cruise. I hate that too and have to manually override it every single time I want to use the Cruise. John Davies Spokane WA

  16. When we drove down, we came from the Seattle area, so we had bought almost everything to fully outfit the trailer including all kitchen items, bedding, our clothes etc. In Hohenwald, a few blocks from the Oliver delivery center are both a Walmart and a Tractor Supply. We had carried in our truck a couple ice chests and bought all our fridge items at the Walmart in the AM before we went to our pickup... Also...if you're interested in what others have bought for their Oliver's you can check out the Oliver Trailer Outfitters link on Amazon. 17. "Finally! Going down to the service center in a couple weeks hope to maybe take a peek. " Normally when we send "spies" on a mission they are told to be secretive. Perhaps a full frontal assault will take them by surprise? In any case - the usual applies - if you are caught we will deny any knowledge of your existence. "Family"? What family? Mike? Ride a Triple? 😁

  18. It’s good news. I just hope it’s a legit option and not just a few battleborn thrown into the battery tray. lithium pro to me would be a roof full of solar, 30+ SEER heat pump, induction stove, and Danfoss/Secop fridge. Then it deserves the powered by lithium badge.
