We thought we would share a letter we sent to Oliver. Please excuse the formatting as it was originally written in Word. Keep in mind, these are only our opinions: We are the owners of a 2019 Oliver Elite II, hull #468. Since our first camping trip in October of 2019, we have taken 15 trips, camped approximately 100 days and have traveled over 16,000 miles. We love our trailer and are very happy with it. We would not trade it for any other RV on the market today but, we think there is room for improvement. During our trips, we have extensively discussed what we like and what we would change, if we had the opportunity to design our ultimate Oliver Travel Trailer. We wanted to share our thoughts with you in a hope to influence any future improvements or new trailers you produce. Our suggestions/ideas for the existing Elite II: - Front Door o Molded fiberglass door, consistent with the quality of the rest of the trailer hull - Windows o Bigger - As big as possible. The more light the better o Acrylic – Allowing for more clear view, better ventilation, better insulation (no exposed metal frame transferring heat or cold), use while raining o Additional window over the kitchen counter – A dark area of the trailer - Holding tanks o Bigger all the way around – More fully utilize the open inter-hull space - HVAC o Houghton AC – Existing AC is way too loud o Trauma Aqua Go Comfort Plus – Water savings with recirculating hot water o Trauma Vario Heat furnace – Quieter and more efficient o MaxxAir MaxxFan Dome in bathroom – Appears to be quieter better quality - Higher density seating cushions - Electric Option to include o 12V DC Danfoss compressor refrigerator o Induction cooktop - Shunt based battery monitor - Make the fresh water drain larger to allow the tank to drain in a reasonable amount of time and make the valve more easily accessed or electric - Include an easily accessed battery disconnect - Rotate the cooktop top 90 degrees to its original position. We understand the reason it was rotated but it is not safe. I have burned the hair off of the back of my hand a number of times because, you are forced to reach over the burner to light it - Nightstand top at or below mattress height – Present height closes in sleeping area and causes half of the twin bed floor plan owners (Forum or Facebook survey results) to sleep with their heads toward the front of the trailer, due to the confined area at the rear of the trailer - Change the color/temperature of the lights in the upper cabinets to match the rest of the lights - A standard (external) radio antenna that really works - One more towel rack in the bathroom - Higher quality outdoor shower or delete the option – Not to the standard of the rest of the trailer Ideas for the Oliver Elite II2 /Elite III - Any or all of the above which apply - More room for a couple with the ability to sleep four – Would really expand the demographic – Families and Grandparents who want to take Grandchildren camping - 8’ wide, 2’ to 3’ longer and a 2” to 3” increase in interior height to accommodate the following: o Wider and taller molded fiberglass front door with transparent window and window covering o Full height dry bath o Four seat dinette that converts into a bed for two o Approximately 80” x 34” (Airstream sized) twin beds to accommodate larger people o Walk around queen bed option – Not for us but it is the most common RV bed layout o Larger refrigerator installed lifted from the floor – 7 cu. ft. or so o An Oven without losing the great six kitchen drawers o 50+ gallon fresh and grey holding tanks o 25+ gallon black tank o Solar that more closely matches the amp hour capacity of the batteries – 200 watts per 100 amp hours if possible o MPPT solar controller – Current standard and more efficient than PVM controller o Adjustable Torsion axle suspension – Smoother ride and more wheel travel o Disc brakes o Four corner stabilizing/leveling jacks o Onboard drinking water filtration We really like the existing Elite II floor plan and feel the same basic layout could be maintained in a larger foot-print, with many or all of the above suggestions/ideas included. Another floor plan to take a close look at is, the 23FB Twin Globetrotter Airstream. We like the camp side dinette and full-width dry bath but would flip the bath to the front and the beds to the rear. Thank you for your time and consideration and for being such a GREAT company! We have hull 178 delivered in Oct. 2016. It has the manual switch and is a simple circuit, On or Off. We turn the fan On during hot days if the refer. needs the help keeping the inside temp where we want it. You can hear the fan come on and feel the very warm exhaust air coming out of the top exterior vent. The fan gets turned Off when the exhaust air out of the top vent gets back to a normal range.1 point

Great and greatly complicated topic for sure. Hull #701 (I think). Lithium, 3000xc Pro Inverter, Honda 2200i Generator. - SteveCr: From talking to Xantrex, it was explained that the unit will focus on draw before charging. In short, if there is a draw on the inverter such as air conditioner, this will be fed first with left over power (if any) channelling to the charger. I recently noticed that when the AC would cycle down after achieving the temp set on the thermostat, the charger would kick on to full bulk rate. When the AC was cooling, the charger was running at a trickle. May have been effected by battery charging needs but the change in charge rate seemed to be tied into the AC draw. - NCeagle's approach to setting #26 to "off" to prevent continual charging of lithiums, which in the long term is a bad thing, works but, in asking the same questions to 4 different techs at Xantrex, 3 said that approach would either not work or is not suggested. The one tech that suggested that approach thought it was perfectly appropriate. That said, I do use that setting for that purpose if Im going to stay plugged in for multiple days straight such as living on shore power to feed a dehumidifier. From talking to the battery manufacturer, it is not bad for the lithiums to be on continual charge except over a long period of time. - For those of us using a Honda 2200i on gas, I've found that you can set the charge rate (#28) to 15amps with no problems. Watts (1800 which is the running wattage per Honda) divided by Volts (120v) = Amps (15a)1 point

@georgelewisray, there are two ignition control switches on the inverter. Switch #1 is for the entire inverter and switch #26 is for the charger portion only. So I don't mess with switch #1 and the inverter is always working. When I turn switch #26 to "auto on" the charger will be DISABLED (since there is no ignition circuit connected on the Ollie) and when I turn switch #26 to "off" the charger will be ENABLED. You will see this on the remote - when #26 is set to "off" the remote says it's charging the battery (e.g., "BLK" for bulk charging) and when #26 is set to "auto on" the remote says "NO" for the battery.1 point

We picked up Hull #776 in April. I purchased the mattress pads from ABLifestyles.net like many others. However, I wanted something more custom for the bedding. Also, I didn't really have a budget so I just picked what I liked. After a lot of searching, I found Tess Weber-Popejoy from BackroadsMama on Facebook and Etsy. Unfortunately, she is taking a break from sewing so I don't think she'd be able to take on another project. There are several other Etsy shops that can make custom RV bedding. I provided Tess with the measurements for the mattresses and had success after an initial adjustment for the depth (needs to be at least 8"). The top sheet is sewn into the bottom of the fitted sheet, which keeps everything tucked in during the night. Tess made additional pillow cases out of different fabric in the "campfire" fabric collection. She also made throw pillow covers and placemats. I even had her make fitted sheets for the dinette when it's folded down into a bed. Our dog sometimes uses this as a bed so we wanted two covers that would protect the cushion fabric. I've posted some photos below. My husband and I are going to make a YouTube video this weekend to walk through the interior of our trailer. There aren't too many videos for of the interior so we thought prospective buyers might appreciate it. Our channel is called Tenacious Traveler and we are really just experimenting so it's not too profession looking (yet). Best wishes as you begin your Oliver camping journey! Stayed at Henry Horton State Park, TN, cabin (Chapel Hill, TN) while waiting for Oliver annual maintenance package being performed at the Mothership. Not one too mechanically inclined, letting the Oliver Service Department do all the annual maintenance provides me a sense of security Hull#444 will make it through the camping season without issues. Also, can task the Oliver folks with any other repair work while at Hohenwald. Attached list of maintenance items in this package.1 point

Elite II #688 also has the Lithium package with the Xantrex XC Pro 3000. I also use #24 (Charger Current) and #28 (AC Breaker for Load Share) occasionally to match and manage power better as described above. However, setting #26 is the best thing since sliced bread! I use #26 (Charger Ignition Control) to manage my Lithium charging the most (by far). Since there is no ignition control in a travel trailer, this switch can be used to turn the charger "off" and "on" via the software while you are using the inverter functions. When we are on shore power I don't want the batteries always topped off at 100% (not good for Lithium longevity), so I turn the charger off by toggling #26 to prevent the charger from holding them at 100%. This switch is an arm-saver since you don't have to manually reach under the street side bed and trip (or reset) the breaker between the inverter and battery.1 point

Back in the day (2008-10) , unless we planned to meet up, we saw only a single Ollie "in the wild." On i26. There were less than 50 of us, then.1 point

Trekhard Your idea is a great one. Once you have it done be prepared, the Oliver is already a magnet where people always stop and ask questions. I owned the pictured Car trailer every where I went mostly at fuel stops I had someone wanting to take photos and asking questions. Many offers to use the trailer for display for events etc. I was happy to help when possible. My point is you will be come a somewhat of a instant celebrity. I had a lot of fun with the trailer and met some amazing people. I sold the trailer a few years ago. No regrets I’d do it again. I don’t think I would do my camping trailer to much exposure. Just a thought good luck1 point

Don't be this guy, always scout difficult terrain before deciding to tow anything large..... Google Earth is really helpful! "A Colorado man driving a 38-foot motor home is finally free after spending about a week marooned on Lime Creek Road, a narrow and rugged dirt road high in the San Juan Mountains north of Durango. The driver became stuck about June 5 after failing to negotiate a left turn, causing the left rear wheels to slip off the road, said Wayne Barger, owner of Animas Towing and Recovery in Silverton, which helped free the vehicle Sunday. “He just took the corner too sharp,” Barger said. “He said the road gave out and his back left duel went off the road.” The driver was also pulling a sedan on a car dolly." He apparently thought that removing the car to drive for help might send the RV 400 feet down the cliff...... https://www.durangoherald.com/articles/rv-is-free-after-spending-a-week-stuck-on-lime-creek-road/ John Davies Spokane WA0 points
