Thanks for the tips and questions. Here's a good overview video on the topic.3 points

What me worry? 🤣 According to OTT specs the Oliver Elite II is "Outside Height to Top of A/C is 9' 8." This is not an Oliver consideration. We had a Class A RV well over 12 FT, still not a highway consideration. ALL RVs are of lower height than the common 18-wheeler truck. Are you worried about your garage height? Talk to @Geronimo John!🤣 From what I understand he has a storage unit at right about 10 FT!3 points

I can do that with my Xantrex 3000. Go into the Xantrex app, scroll down to Charger, click on "Charger Ignition Control", swipe up to change "off" to "Auto-on" then click "apply".2 points

I am very sensitive to sound, good ears, can hear a toilet leak, every little sound in the house and odd sounds an automobile or RV. Don't like to sleep with a fan running or A/C on, any motor noise. In the Oliver, I can hear the fridge cycle and the HWH turn on even in electric mode, etc. The Victron Multiplus II is a heavy-duty inverter charger. You can certainly hear it when the inverter is ON pushing enough amps to run the A/C or our Air Fryer. The thing is these appliances are so much noisier, so it doesn't really matter at the time. I have heard a couple Xantrex and several PD chargers and they make more noise when charging. I have our MP2 set at 50A charging and that may keep the sound down some (you can set it up to 120A charging which may get louder). For our LiFePO4 batteries, 50A is an easy charge so I keep it there. Usually when we connect to shore power, +50AH is enough to get the batteries back to 100% soon enough. I sleep directly over our MP2 and I do not hear it at night. Never hear it while watching TV on inverter. We do have 10" 3-layer foam mattresses which helps to insulate. If it was still at a high charge rate by the time I go to bed, I would hear it a little. If that was ever the case, I could open up the VictronConnect app on my phone and switch the MP2 to OFF or inverter only modes. I have not ever had to do this, but it is an option. This beast is quiet! We run our MP2 24x7x365 days a year. IT is ALWAYS in on position unless wanting to be in charger only or inverter only modes.2 points

I like using my Garman RV satellite GPS for that. There are several different models depending what you need or can afford. That said, I don't use a Satellite Navigator to navigate our Ollie into the barn for storage. But I do back it in and out very carefully. the barn floor is about a foot above outside area grade. So I had to move a bunch of dirt and gravel to create a compacted 20 foot long flat spot in front of the 10 foot AFF clearance beam at the entry. Something to keep in mind if you think the storage facility could give your Ollie A/C or antennas a BUZZZ hair cut. JD: I didn't know your picture was on the cover of Mad Magazine. You are famous!! I replaced a leaking LP pigtail. The tank connector on the original was light green while the replacement I found while on the road happened to be a dark green. Later while at a campground making my repairs, a fellow camper said that he once replaced a leaking light green tank connector with one that was dark green and then began to have various propane flow problems. He said that he switched his dark green out with a light green fitting and solved his problems. He didn’t provide any details of his problems. I did not know that there were color codes on LP tank connectors. Evidently different colors have different internal spring tensions for managing different flow rates. According to Etrailer the light green connectors are rated for 200,000 Btu per hour. The black are rated for 70,000-100,000 Btu per hour. The dark green are rated for 450,000-500,000 Btu per hour. The Red connector is the strongest spring and is often used for high pressure adapters and T-fittings. The question that I can’t seem to find a specific answer to is: Do the higher btu or flow rated dark green fittings work fine in our application. In other words, even though the dark green are rated for higher flow rates than I will ever need in my camper, do they perform just as well when they are used for lower flow rates as those of the light green ratings?1 point

I'll look you up JD...thanks :)1 point

Thanks, JD...all makes sense. I think I may stay with my Xanrex 2000w unit for the time being. I'm planning to get 2x300 ah Epoch essentials and install at Quartzsite. I want to also remove my battery tray (it is shot) and clean up the wiring. And also explore dc to dc from my alternator. I am hoping for much input from fellow campers at the "Q". It is great to know I can switch charging off at night on the Victron...can't do that with my Xantrex. John1 point

RV Life’s TripWizard map service has the avoid low overpasses option based on your TV/RV size, but it requires a subscription.1 point

John - Hopefully other members will chime in with suggestions. I've never really worried about height issues and have never run into a problem other than a couple of gas stations that seemed to have very low canopies over the pumps. And, now with my two year old Garmin 890 I have never had an alert or routing problem due to height. There have been a couple of times that the Garmin has re-routed me due to traffic. The first time I refused to obey that nice little lady inside the Garmin because I was very confident that I knew where I was going. While I was correct in knowing where I was going I simply wasn't going there very quickly with all the traffic stopped on a six lane interstate. Once I started listening it was like she placed me on a magic carpet and got me moving again. Good luck! Bill p.s. there are (of course) other ways to get traffic data such as Google maps and Waze, but the "height restriction" issue with towing can be a bit of a "problem"1 point

Oh, I am sure I would have enjoyed it more if I had not been traveling home on a deadline with wife and kids. Brisket and pulled pork sandwiches were good. Just too many people. I know there is a huge fan base, I hear about Buc-ee's all the time at work. I wonder if they will switch all those gas pumps to charging stations in the future. I get what you are saying about the loss of BTUs but the phenomena that I observed was this cyclical loss of solar input from max wattage to zero repeating itself every 5-10 seconds (see video above). I feel like it is something simple, it is just going to be the running it down part that I hope is easy. Replacement 50 amp auto-reset breaker coming today. Hopefully, starting the new Victron 50A DC/DC charger install today or tomorrow. It will be a good time to check all the connections, etc. Best, Mike1 point

We were trying to get off the freeway and got on a highway in Massachusetts that had height restriction below our Ollie height. It was a restricted access road and we did not see the sign until it was too late to turn around. We got off as soon as we could.0 points
