Thanks for the cleanup info. It’s on my list to do. Had you used the Duragloss 541 on the other windows as routine maintenance? And I’m guessing you wouldn’t use it on silicone again? Did the dull window frame from the MEK lead to the EZE Gutter location question. I haven’t put the EZE Gutters on and have not decided where they would go and not interfere with future window maintenance. The Norton's, who may have #136, placed theirs about halfway between the lights and the windows They used a small peak in the middle and then extended the gutter past the window frame without any turn down. Which I think is a pretty good location, but it is more noticeable. Mossey

It sounds like the water was resting between the butyl sealant and the silicone and it had to be escaping somehow before you breached the dam. I’m guessing that one scenario that has not happened since you removed the silicone is wind driven water. Such as driving 60 mph in the rain. You might be able to simulate that in your driveway with a hose and a leaf blower. So which sealant did you decide to use and can you explain your MOP for removing the existing silicone/sealant and prepping the area for the new silicone/sealant. And following up on Landrover's suggestion of leaving a leak point or two, maybe something like a mini straw or plastic coffee stirring straw would work. Mossey

I didn’t notice the difference in the two pucks when I was looking at the Froli website, but looking at the picture you attached it’s pretty obvious. So now I assume that one puck is the magnet and the other is passive. If this is in fact the case, they definitely wouldn’t work on the entrance door without some additional mounting hardware. And you are absolutely right about the long term viability of the hardware in an outdoor environment unless it is fact geared toward a marine environment. Mossey

I understand the fear of ripping the retaining hook off of the hull and the Froli magnetic door holders are very nice looking as are all of their products. But I don’t see an application for it on the Ollie entrance door. I think the bathroom door hold you are using might be a better option because of the movement in the ball side. Without product measurements I’m just guessing. Is the magnet in the swivel ball or the fixed portion? Let us know what your thoughts are as you may be seeing things differently. Mossey

Toby, In my experience, it’s more fun to stub your toe and learn from your mistakes.😄 And please take AndrewK up on his offer to help as he has done his own install and guided several other Ollie owners with their installations, giving him more experience than I have. FYI: I removed the Zamp Charge Controller temperature sensor and used the Victron instead. This is in preparation of upgrading my charge controller. Mossey

It’s a little late for pictures tonight, but I’ll give you this to think about. When I got finished with my Victron BMV-712 installation, there were only 3 wires going into the battery box. 1 to the battery negative, 1 to the battery positive and 1 from the Victron temperature sensor. I installed a positive and negative buss bar in the lower hull under the pantry on the walkway wall. Mossey

Whether we are heading out for a 3 day weekend or a 3 week trip, Krunch packs about 10 pairs of shoes and boots and another 10 pairs of sandals and flip flops. Then she adds about 20 outfits, you know top and shorts or pants. Add in 20 pairs of socks and unmentionables. Then she packs the refrigerator, freezer, pantry and bathroom. Then she mentions that if I took the ladder out of the closet, she could put some jackets and rain coats in there. And then she what’s to know why I need the OTT manuals and other information a Boy Scout would deem necessities. This usually leaves me with the attic as my closet! And this is how I have survived 45 years of wedded bliss! Yes dear, you are probably right. And notice I did slip a "probably" in there, as I am still the man of the trailer. Mossey

Would that TV require an Andersen WD hitch?🤔 Mossey

I am usually at home when I drain my freshwater tank and I just let it run on my ground which can always use the water. And for me it is simple to flip the bed on edge and lift off the hatch lid which I then use to prop up the bed at 90°. And as JD mentioned, it’s a good time for a visual inspection of the water pump and valves. Mossey

You could always convert that valve to a 12v valve and add a switch. ScubaRx did that for the Boondocking port. Mossemi

Our 2017 LEII came with the television mounted in the street side rear corner. Later Oliver moved the television to the center location, maybe beginning in 2018. I moved our television to the center location and also placed the power, RCA inputs, HDMI and a USB power cable in the center also. I also measured from the bottom of attic to the television and it would take a 5" curtain to hide the television which would also cover about 1/3 of the screen when the screen is in the viewing position. So if you do decide to camouflage the television I believe the curtain needs to flip up or be removable. Maybe use Velcro to attach it as Sherry suggested. If you do decide on the television instead of an iPad or two as Overland suggested. I would suggest you try it as is, you might like it. I do know that we don’t even think about ours when it is in the up position and when it is in the down position, it’s usually dark outside and the shades are closed. Mossey

I do love his enthusiasm for all things solar. And his book and forum are great reference tools. Mossey

Thank you Susan for asking this question about redundant CO detectors. My 2017 LEII came with two CO detectors. One of them is paired with the Atwood Propane/CO detector under the dinette. The other is paired with the First Alert Smoke/CO Alarm unit, which is under the attic near the television. And I will state that I am not sure if the 2020 or 2021 Oliver’s are equipped with two CO detectors, so there is a small chance that topgun2 is correct. I must admit to a small amount of pleasure I gain when correcting a forum moderator.😂😂😂 Mossey

The reason your van works is because the neutral and ground are bonded in the generator. Most portable inverter generators do not have the neutral and ground bonded. I don’t believe the automatic transfer switch has anything to do with the surge protector error. I use a test plug to verify correct electrical wiring before plugging my Oliver into any power source I am unfamiliar with and I would suggest everyone do the same. Mossey

Door Window Replacement - Need Window Treatment Idea
mossemi replied to AndrewK's topic in Ollie Modifications
I am sorry that I am such a nerd😮. An SME is a subject matter expert. At work that Jokingly applied to anyone that had any experience with anything the was new in our work environment. So the first person to figure out how to clear a paper jam in the new printer was the office SME. In this case AndrewK was the first to complete this modification, thus he now has the title of SME. Door Window Replacement - Need Window Treatment Idea

AndrewK, I looked at the shade you installed at Zarcor's website and I think it is a great solution and I am surprised I hadn’t noticed on their site before. It must have been the Airstream reference that caused me to skip over it. But I did go over it in depth after your posting and I thought it looked great. So when Townesw asked about hanging it upside down, my first thought was to mount it as you did, but placing the main/top bar at a lower level which would leave a viewing gap at the top. But then that gap couldn’t ever be covered by the shade which might not work for some people. And then I saw your response and I remembered the other lower bar hold downs they offered such as the pegs. Since you are the SME on these shades do you think the pegs would work as Townesw requested? Just pondering, Mossey -
Just wondering if you have thought about hanging a monitor under the attic like the television and using a Lagun table as a laptop desk? Seating could be a challenge depending on how long you had to work each day. Something like a bar stool in the aisle might work. As you can see from my pre-retirement workstation, I did like a lot of monitor real estate. Mossey

Lucky you, I am so jealous. That looks like a great campground. We are stuck in Florida on day 96 of my mother in-law's ALF lock down and Krunch is not budging. Mossey

Well that is good news, especially this close to my bed time. I shall sleep easier tonight knowing the Golden Arches won’t be polluting the dark skies of the canyon. And after cutting the grass today in near 90° heat, I sure would've enjoyed one of Dave's chocolate Frostys. Mossey

I am sure you could. Oliver uses 4 6v flooded lead acid batteries and they may also use 4 6v AGM batteries. Now the next question would be if they would fit in the battery tray. The 6v lead acid batteries are Trojan T-105's and they have a 225 amp hour rating. You should be able to find their dimensions online. I don’t remember, but someone else may chime in with that information. Mossey

Netscape🤔, now there’s a history lesson. But most of us here on the Oliver Owner’s forum should remember it once we rub the cobwebs away. Mossey

Thank you Coy for the link to the information at Congress.gov. And the following statement clarifies that the non taxpayer funds will probably be coming from oil and gas drilling, mining for coal and maybe hydroelectric dams on federal lands and waters. For FY2021-FY2025, there shall be deposited into the fund an amount equal to 50% of all federal revenues from the development of oil, gas, coal, or alternative or renewable energy on federal lands and waters. Deposited amounts must not exceed $1.9 billion for any fiscal year. Now what I don’t know is if this from current energy infrastructure or new development to come. If it is new development, I personally would rather see usage fees increased and no new energy development on any federal lands. I never thought of the idea of National Parks or other federal lands was to save the natural resources so they could be sold to the highest bidder at some later date. Somehow that doesn’t sound the the NPS's statement. Our Mission The National Park Service preserves unimpaired the natural and cultural resources and values of the National Park System for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations.
