  1. I am curious - how does one update the -bladder full - to - I gotta go now - to never mind - gauge? But good work - impressive actually. RB
  2. You should be on the payroll!
  3. JD -This was not yesterday- IF I was certain- well - in the recesses of my well abused mind, I seem to think it was on a metal support, back about half way into the guts of the beast. But then - I might be remembering a memory best left alone. ... hope your journey is a good one -into the heart of darkness - a suburban/Dometic/who knows furnace trilogy. RB
  4. If any prospective Oliver customer ever had their doubts - post this thread. Drop the mic - as they say. Oliver management - I applaud you. RB Whether an Oliver tech - or a local service - that is how you do it.
  5. Curious Mike - were you able to help on the fridge issue? RB
  6. JD - to get a pic - you need to pull the outside access cover. Currently it is to cold and rainy out to mess with all that. However- during the first year my furnace refused to ignite- seems the sail switch fault just would not reset. If I remember correctly - Jason wanted me to reset it with the internal on/off. I had a time finding it... but it was there. It did not make a difference - and had to take the Oliver back to Oliver service - after a week- they finally got it to work. They said after they had tried everything the factory rep suggested - a tech finally took an air hose and blew the system out - and it has been fine since - well -it doesn't like 10,000 ft. in elevation. Was very hit and miss on combustion at initial start. It has worked fine since at lower elevations.
  7. I'm not so certain you call these sail boats. Sail foils .... Really impressive tech.
  8. Occam's razor β€œWith all things being equal, the simplest explanation tends to be the right one.” ― William of Ockham And for us guys - usually asked by our spouse - Did you read the instruction manual? Occam's razor - Wikipedia If my 3 power source RV refrigerator/freezer runs on propane and DC - and initially once ran on shore power AC - my method of trouble shooting: the simple answer is the unit is not connected - somewhere- either at the plug, the breaker, or somewhere in-between. At the AC receptacle - verify 120 volts ac. yes - plug it in, no - find out why not. Receptacle has AC power - fridge is plugged in - and still no workie - check voltage at point of connection in the units access port. AC is there - perhaps the units control circuitry is bad. (very low probability but possible) Any decent RV repair person could figure this out in about 5 min. Oliver does pay for such services. Take 5 min - lower the tire pressures to 55 psi. Done. If not done - don't bother with next suggestion. Align the window shade clips - parallel to window - place the shade in the top clips - aligned correctly -do same for the lower - a swift but stern "smack" at the location of each clip will seat the frame. Done. Read owners manual - every page - twice. No RV is perfect - regardless of the price. Oliver is not any different. I've never met an Oliver owner that was not outgoing, friendly, and willing to help as much as possible. Oliver owners are your friend, until proven otherwise. May the force be with you. RB And: I once told Jason my furnace did not have the on/off switch he said it did - in the location he said it was located. I was certain - until I proved I was an idiot - it was exactly where he said it was - right behind a bundle of control wires my preconceived yes said it wasn't. A lesson I have relearned way to many times. We are all human after all.
  9. Regardless of the tax rate - the yearly fee to own personal property just seems over the top. I have come to accept sales taxes and yearly Real estate property tax - but the "rental" fee local governments levy is too much for me. I am glad we have choices on where we call home.
  10. Saw one a few years back - Not a bad design. I just didn't like the interior design. An older couple were towing with a 1/2 ton truck.
  11. Nice work - as usual -. You do high level work. I must admit - I try not to be anywhere its gonna be below freezing for much more than a few hours. Over night's perhaps - it better warm during the day. We did get snowed upon at elevation last summer (10k' FT). Summer in the CO mountains.... I love the outdoors, camping, RV'ing, paddling WW , etc. - but not at freezing temps - not anymore. I even hesitate to paddle much below 40.... and that is a change - seems each new year finds me a somewhat more - adultish.. However - given the topics lately - I will add a little cold weather materials to my travel tools and equipment stash - esp. if it is during the transition periods Spring/Fall. Thanks all for the ideas. RB
  12. Me - what would I do in that situation -200 dry miles - Maybe take a look - probably not - . I have found the Oliver community to be very proactive on the maintenance front. A good thing - anal - perhaps. Per Dexter: light-duty-maintenance-schedulee47a839d2ba463c18d7aff64007a4014.pdf (dexteraxle.com) medium-duty-oil-specification-and-bearing-adjustment.pdf (dexteraxle.com) 600-8K Complete Service Manual.pdf (dexterpartsonline.com) Everything one needs - adjust accordingly - RB
  13. My 2.5 year experience The AGM's are basically maintenance free - requires nothing really - I verified bolts/connections were still tight. And that the batteries were secure. That's it. Currently all indications shows the batteries are performing as expected. I expect to have them around at least 4 years. No gassing to speak of, no spilling of chemicals, simple. How many "cycles" I don't know. I try not to run them below 50% - believe I was close - 1 time. One day full sun - recharged. Ran the inverter a full 40 days on last trip. Mostly to power a AC/DC portable freezer that I had screwed up the DC plug. Also a coffee maker each morning. Solar Battery Storage Systems: If You Can't Tell Your AGM From Your Gel (solartown.com) Has some comparisons. Plenty of info out there. Wet cell - well you already know the deal. Lifespan - depends on a lot of things. Not worth the effort to me. Your question was timely. I fully understand the appeal of the LIPro battery system, - and given my user profile - similar to yours - the higher expense just does not make sense. And more to my point - I am not sure they ever will - given the current cost and technology. Now down the road - this may change. RB OFD
  14. Nice catch JD. It is something I have been looking for myself - I can't tell from the pic - is it 4wd? The link shows to b removed. Pretty sure an EII would fit with a little engineering effort. RB OFD - for Mr. Mossey....
  15. I am pleased with my 6 speed 2018 - would be interesting to compare the two. Most folks don't realize- Gm upgraded, improved the LP5 diesel a few times - - internal changes- since the introduction in 2017 model year. Banks power has tried to kill it several times on his dyno - seems it holds up well. I'll let you know in 200K more road miles....
  16. Sir Mossey, I am an old guy in training, will be for a long time......as for the Fanboy moniker - it appeared to be taken, Fandude seemed appropriate. Indeed, a "Dude" may span a few generations - thus I am a practicing - almost old Dude - Oliver fan... but I must admit - a big Lebowski I am not.... Have a great day Fandude .........πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ
  17. Thanks for the reply - the Oliver letter is telling. I will not continue to beat a dead horse - If issues continue to make it to the customer - intentions and new systems are not working. Oliver is perhaps the best out there when it comes to service after the sale. I fully expect Oliver will continue to evolve, and as they work to improve quality and through put - customers will continue to sing their praises. Indeed Humans are not very reliable - that is why we develop systems to keep us on track.... RB Unabashed Oliver Fandude!
  18. If it was me - 1. Disconnect the water line/hose if connected. (Boondocking -I get it - just want to cover the subject) If you have insulation, tape, HD towels - wrap the hose connections. 2. Insulate as SeaDawg has suggested. If in a pinch - use some thick towels or similar - tucked into the area. A water heater blanket from HD will work - cut to fit. 3. Open up any of the access ports on the inside of the trailer - the aim is to give heated air a path to the areas below and in-between the hull. 4. Make sure you have enough Propane for the timeframe - run the furnace as needed to maintain appropriate temp inside the unit. 5. Optional: If you have a multi sensor temperature station - put one in the rear access hull area - and one in the front - under the front dinette seat area - would be interesting to see what the temps get to in the areas. IE: Amazon.com: Newentor Weather Station Wireless Indoor Outdoor Multiple Sensors, Digital Atomic Clock Weather Thermometer, Temperature Humidity Monitor Forecast Weather Stations with Backlight: Industrial & Scientific and then thumb your nose at mother Nature - not to much though - you don't want to really make her angry.....
  19. I can't let this go - it's just not in me . If indeed, a supplier, and Oliver, freely admit - tires/wheel: specked and costed out to be delivered balanced, pressure set to 80psi, and filled with nitrogen (as mine were) are not 100% delivered as such - the system is broken. I mentioned a second level verification in another post - Oliver -if true- should have immediately added the check, written corrective action to the supplier, demanded IRR with breakpoint. And on... OK- this is not a safety issue - on the face of it - it is just - what it is - an error in the product. But, I don't know if the claim is accurate - so, I'm just riffing. But what I do know, because I've been there, and I've seen and read of various repeat quality problems - Oliver needs a more robust Quality reporting and problem solving process. What is somewhat startling - is that Oliver manages to deliver a fairly consistent quality product - one believed to be higher than industry norm. A miss here and there - well that happens.............. Seems second rate - just imagine if it was a plane - the supplier forgot to torque a bolt in the engine turbine - and - well you get the point. But Oliver's aren't airplanes - no - they are high priced RV's - second only to Airstream in premium pricing. Value and quality - delicate proposition's to keep alive. And still I like my Oliver EII. RB My apologies to the moderators and any Oliver fanboy's 😁😁
  20. As Mike said I-10 and pretty much all of the main roads of TX - are a cut above. There are a few spots that can get dicey - same for I-40, but most of the time - good travel. But if it was me - I would would consider I-70 - absent a big spring storm - its a decent drive. East of Missouri - I have no experience - Good travels. Then again - off the main routes- creative paths are always interesting. I have found some of the coolest places - in places I wasn't headed. Just head easterly, eventually you end up at the destination - and have more fun. RB We are not lost! How do you know? Cause Google maps says so...... Yeah right - last time we ended up in BFE. !!! Well, With Ollie - it doesn't matter. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,!!
  21. I can only comment on my personal experiences. I have the keyless entry - never had an issue - the faceplate cracked, and was replaced. Later the thing had locked itself - I was like - What!!!!. So I key in code - no problem. Same thing happened on anther day - What the heck. A few months later - I was fussing about in the truck - in the glove box - where the Oliver keyless pendant is stored - along with other keys - and I hear the Oliver keyless lock engage - from 150' away... What??? So indeed - the door was locked. Now the remote is stored appropriately. I get the comments that Oliver positioning may affect the door frame positioning. And perhaps makes the latch a little sticky - but not to the point it won't open - at least from what I've seen, but then- I wasn't there. And if it initially opened and latched smoothly - and then it won't open - every time - a visual of the latch will quickly tell you the problem - but if it is itinerant - call Ghostbusters. But only after you have done your homework - or followed a few of the suggestions of the previous posters. Another Crusty Old guy in training. RB
  22. Welcome and congratulations.
  23. All good advice - I have more experience with the right side of the road hazard than I wish. Spot on comments. I purchased a clone tire wheel - at Oliver purchase. I rotate front to back, back to spare and spare spare, Spare to front - and spare spare to front. 6 tire rotation. Can't recall - but I believe I kept rt on rt, Left on left, marked the tires appropriately. I believe I researched rotation, and got mixed information. Rotated at approx 8k. Would have to go look in the log to verify. Tires look very good. If I don't get busy - they will age out before they wear out.
  24. For whatever reason - the NFL just doesn't capture my attention these days - and as much as Brady didn't appeal to me - I must give him his due- Seems the older I get - the more I appreciate it - another day - and the older, seasoned, experienced, lasting, antique , crusty --- things. Having once lived within earshot of Barksdale AFB - those new/old B-52's (65 years new) during take off - were a site to behold and heard. If I could update parts like them - I may have a chance - at a similar longevity. The F-35's my youngest protects in AK - are pretty cool in their own right - but don't appear to be as robust as the ancient B-52. RB
  25. I assumed my tires and wheels were balanced - as they had the requisite lead weights in the appropriate places. (I guess one could call Oliver and ask?) In the 15K miles they have rolled around - the tires are wearing very nicely, and the trailer rides very smoothly at higher speeds. I rotate them with the spare, and a spare- spare, all were balanced as delivered. (July 2018 - #359) I expected the tires were balanced to Oliver - by the supplier. I have no reason to pay to get my tires/wheels balanced. If I did - Oliver would need to reimburse me for the cost and time - but they don't - because they were good at delivery... I'm gonna find something else to think about - RB Junior Old guy in training. Edit - If Oliver did not balance - and they do now - when did they make the change. Inquiring minds and all.
