  1. I’m in the bigger is better crowd, too. But then, being the child of depression era parents, I suffer from packrat disease. You never know when you might need (fill in the blank). On the serious side, extra room for the TV, tools, or just space for projects is pretty nice.
  2. If that battery was improperly wired, I’m pretty certain there would have been some interesting arc welding.
  3. It’s another case of red cap misplaced
  4. I’m of the opinion the picture shows a correct 4 battery parallel install. It’s a bit confusing with the red + caps on negative posts, but looks correct to me.
  5. Cort, sorry to hear that things have worsened. Like @Rivernerd said, I’d lean hard on Camping World to make things right. If needed, escalate up the chain of command, even beyond the store manager if needed. The 4 AGMs for the price of 3 seems reasonable. Good luck!
  6. Thank you! We also use the little Rubbermaid folding ladder and boat hook, but keep a 3/4” stall mat in the bed. I may just put some rope loops on the tops of the action packers to make it easier to grab with the boat hooks. The stall mat is a cushion for the Northern Lite, and it helps keep it from sliding around.
  7. John, the Marine Corps put me through nearly a year of training (AE A & AE B) to become an aircraft electrician, and I continue to learn from great posts like yours. Thanks and keep them coming.
  8. On the topic of bed trays, does anyone know of a tray system that is EASY EASY EASY to remove and reinstall? I’m tired of crawling in under the canopy to store/retrieve gear, but since we also use a truck camper I need to have access to the floor of the bed.
  9. John, I’d also dump the water and possibly the gray water to reduce overall weight.
  10. Be careful where you setup camp
  11. An interesting observation on this deflation graphic. Note that while the width of the contact patch does increase as tire pressure is reduced, the significant increase is in the length of the patch. Maybe all those old loggers running pizza cutter tires knew what would give them the most traction in the woods. Happy Holidays
  12. Is there a chance you have a wiring fault at the receptacle you’re plugging into? By 20 amp, I assume you’re referring to a typical residential outlet. We use a short adapter to connect our Ollie (via a heavy duty extension) to the wall outlets in our shop.
  13. When using compressed air, and have done that many times on other campers/trailers, I always worried about water left in the pump. With the Oliver, it’s just so easy to use the pink stuff.
  14. Apropos of nothing, the first new version of the Bowlus Road Chief travel trailer I saw was being towed through Canby, Oregon by a Tesla.
  15. The 12VDC winter filter is all that came with our Ollie. I’ll order the other so we can decalcify the unit.
  16. Lucy, you got some splainin’ to do.😂
  17. JD, thanks for posting that! Your use of VHB was part of the solution I was looking for. I’m thinking of using stainless folding shelf brackets that screw into wood strips that adhere to the counter side. Also thinking of possibly elongating the bracket screw hole with a slot that would allow a quick removal. Downside there is exposed screw heads.
  18. We didn’t receive the Truma AquaGo default filter with our 2018 OTT. I’m wondering how important it is to have it for decalcification purposes. Your thoughts?
  19. Cyber Truck? No thanks, not where we live.
  20. It’s a bit easier to understand when your friends and family are the people whose lives have been disrupted by a fire…
  21. Mike, because of the catastrophic fires we’ve had in the west it’s needed, I’ve had family and friends lose everything because some ass is careless with fire. I’m surprised more states haven’t implemented similar permitting. The permits are free, and it’s a great way to educate the citizenry, and hold idiots accountable. The permit is required for just about all open flame devices, including lanterns. Visiting campers on private property are required to have written permission of the owner.
  22. First, congrats on the new to arrive family member. For a trailer jack, I recommend something like a Safe Jack in a size and with adapters that best fit your needs. I also always have a piece of plywood that can be used as a stable base for the bottle jack if you’re in gravel or loose dirt. Edit: there is a thread that shows shower curtain mods that I believe are better than the OTT design. I like the mods that use boat rail tubing and fittings.
  23. I won’t be able to get a photo for a while, but visualize the unit mounted on edge, running along the inside of the driver side bunk. It’s just behind the battery compartment. Open the forward bunk hatch, and it’s directly below, aisle side.
  24. Don’t forget, if you’re camping in California, it’s almost time to get next year’s free California Fire Permit if you’re planning on having a campfire, or using any type of flame emitting device for outside heat, cooking or light.
