Overland
Man, look at the calendar. It's been weeks since I've made a New Music Friday post. Miss me? No? Hmmm. Not nice. NMF must happen. OK, I'm starting off with Sparks: • That was a good warmup, right? Sure, you hated that song, but I promise that you will be humming it for days. That is your punishment. Now, on with the show. I don't get the name of this song, but it scores a solid 8.5 on the cool scale: • A nice something from Braids: • You guys know I'm a sucker for jazz flute, so: • Kabuki jazz flute is always cool, or so I've heard. And if cool is going to be the theme this week, we can't leave out Laurent Garnier, especially when teamed with the Limiñanas. Spoken word music, in French, how could that not be cool: • Nice, how about one more of the same, but different. Very, very different: • Speaking of cool, Tricky is too cool to even be heard on his records these days. But at least he shows up for live performances and makes noises that might be words? Hard to say, really: • Thylacine, one of my current favorites, gets a smooth groove going in his latest, and smooth grooves? Always cool: • This song is from last year, but it showed up on my music feed today again for some reason, and I see the video is just a few weeks old. Maybe it's being relaunched by the record company? It definitely deserves another listen. Smooth Motown vibes. Now that's cool: • And I'll finish with a different kind of cool - a dreamy guitar thing from Kele Okereke: • "But wait", you say, "No techno this week? How can that be?" Be, it can. I do have some techno, but I also have this - hip hop techno. Oh, yeah, with a little old school dub reverb thrown in for flavor. Cool: That is all. 1

Overland
Few know that Snowball is known as the Lonely Disco in the right circles (that circle consisting of my wife and me, but we're accepting membership applications). And I know that there's not a single Grace Jones fan on the forum apart from me, but I've posted before about how much I like Sonos gear as a replacement for Oliver's speakers, and thought some of you might like to hear what they sound like. Or it, this is actually just the Sonos Move playing, which you can see on the ground at the first of the video. Helps that the playa is basically a 10 mile wide soundboard, but that sort of makes up for this being recorded through an iPhone microphone. 4
Moderators topgun2 Posted December 8, 2021 Moderators Share Posted December 8, 2021 I'd apply for membership but you simply have got to get the lights on the Snowball and the light over those mountains to be changing color and intensity with the back beat of the music! 🤣 1 2023 Ford F150 Lariat 3.5EB FX4 Max Towing, Max Payload, 2016 Oliver Elite II - Hull #117 "Twist" Near Asheville, NC

Moderators SeaDawg Posted December 8, 2021 Moderators Share Posted December 8, 2021 Grace Jones has an amazing voice (and range), an amazing look, and she should be featured in the aarp mag. At 73, she shames people half her age. Disco queen, sure. But so much more. Who else got Andy Warhol as a host for her baby shower? 1 2008 Ram 1500 4 × 4 2008 Oliver Elite, Hull #12 Florida and Western North Carolina, or wherever the truck goes.... 400 watts solar. Moderators SeaDawg Posted December 25, 2021 Moderators Share Posted December 25, 2021 This is a pretty special song for us. It was on our tree decorating cd for years. This was the "dance break" song for me, my mother in law, and my daughter. Every year, the tree had a heavy amount of ornaments at my mil's height/ reach. A few got dropped. No big deal. We had so much fun, and I really miss those days. And I miss my tiny, sweet mother in law, with her big spirit, and beautiful smile. Merry Christmas. 1 4 2008 Ram 1500 4 × 4 2008 Oliver Elite, Hull #12 Florida and Western North Carolina, or wherever the truck goes.... 400 watts solar. DC compressor fridge. I was about 13 and my sister was 15 when one Christmas Eve she convinced me to learn how to dance. Let the lessons begin! In the living room, next to the aluminum Christmas tree that had a color wheel lighting it, she played that song over and over and ....... until I learned. Same thing the next day too. For a long time I really didn't like White Christmas and/or the Drifters. I'd had enough! But, then I found out that girls liked boys who could dance!😇 Thanks for reminding me - it really brought a smile to my face with a great memory. Moderators SeaDawg Posted January 29, 2022 Moderators Share Posted January 29, 2022 So, a bit late for throwback Thursday. But, this is still a favorite. My husband and I have traveled so many places. I had tears in my eyes when our plane circled Norway for the first time, decades ago. We've camped on so many fun and exotic places, with, and without our Oliver. We've enjoyed camping in so many places, here, and abroad. And, sailing expeditions, as well. It's all about trust in each other, your vehicle, and what you are willing to risk, and, enjoy, together. Our life has always been about "will you go with me.," And, it's been a great travel. I only hope all of you can or have enjoyed the journeys, too. 1 1 2008 Ram 1500 4 × 4 2008 Oliver Elite, Hull #12 Florida and Western North Carolina, or wherever the truck goes.... 400 watts solar.
