When on shore power, does your refrigerator work when AC power is selected? The fridge circuit is direct to a breaker (no GFCI), so if it does maybe your GFCI has failed.

Congratulations on your new to you Ollie. We'll work out how to reset your profile later. Hull number 590 probably means 2019, or so. ELITE 1 or 2? What batteries?

Does the gfci reset, or no? Have you tried?

Are you on shore power? Have you checked the shore power connection?

Does anything work on 110? Fridge, ac, etc.

Give us a bit more info, and folks will be happy to help.

If you have the transfer switch (extra power connection), try unplugging from the pedestal, and wait a minute. Plug in again. Our transfer switch doesn't always kick in, right away. When it does, we hear a click inside, and  when we had a microwave,  the microwave beeped.

Sorry for your troubles. A little more info will help us help you.

If you're on shore power, have the 2 power connectors outside (left side body and right side by the propane tanks), and the transfer switch doesn't click/microwave doesn't beep when you plug in, can your cord reach the other power connector?

More dumb questions!  I'm a novice.  So I have the legacy II, 2020.  I put 4 new interstates in it.  Now that I am back in my barn and plugged in to shore power. everything is working!  A/C, batteries got restored, outlets working gfi ,yes! So I think my portable Generator 30 amp plug was not working? battery drained after 2 days .  here is my questions.  Do the outlets in the RV work on battery power only?  I thought so, and That may have been my first misdirection... Do I have an Invertor?  What is the Black box mounted on the inside compartment under the table?  Looks like an invertor.

Hi Badger,

When using a generator with the Oliver, it is important to have a bonding plug otherwise known as a neutral ground plug on the generator.  The Oliver comes standard with a built in surge protector and if you do not have this plug, the surge protector will not allow the 120v power to work as it is not grounded.  Here is an example of a ground plug that you can buy on Amazon for $19.  https://www.amazon.com/Southwire-Company-LLC-44400-Generator/dp/B07F4R7BDL/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=generator+bonding+plug&qid=1696360581&sr=8-5

Yes, you need a bonding plug to get power from most generators into your trailer. That should solve your initial problem. I don't know if Hull 590 has an inverter. Most Olivers do. Do you have a black control panel labeled Xantrex in your trailer? Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Schneider-Electric-Solar-Inv-808-0817-01/dp/B0756BJQCN/ref=asc_df_B0756BJQCN/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312094677816&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10946446638069115879&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9003252&hvtargid=pla-519123927354&psc=1

If so, you have an inverter. Instructions on its use are in Oliver University, linked from the main Oliver website. Basically, if you have no shore power, pushing the round silver button in activates the inverter and creates 120v power for your outlets, microwave, etc. from your batteries. The green LED next to the battery icon will indicate it's working. Note that this can consume a lot of battery power, especially running the microwave, so use it sparingly. The inverter does consume some power whenever it's on, even if there's nothing plugged into the outlets, so turn it off when not needed.

@Doug S, all good questions.

And, understandable quandries.

When you wrote the original post asking for help, were you on generator without the ground plug?

If you were on campground shore power, let us know. Different scenario.

The more info you can provide, the more the collective minds can help.

So glad everything is working now, at home .

When did you install the new batteries?

And, welcome aboard. Glad to have you here.

Richard, I know this is a little late in the game but I believe Badger's solution was to purchase the bonding plug that Phil mentioned.

Much later … I have been reading various posts about this “neutral grounding plug” “neutral bonding plug” and have tried without success to access the Amazon products linked in several posts. The product links are outdated (I guess) and one leads to a Xantrex Remote Control.

Can someone please give me a more specific description of the plug, and where it’s supposed to be inserted? I was expecting to find mention in an OTT video or OTT knowledge base article, but so far I’ve failed to find it or specific information on changes (if necessary) to my Xantrex settings, so I can recharge my lithium batteries with a Pulsar Inverter Generator 2000i (a gift to me, so it’s all new territory).

Thanks for any assistance here.

This seemed to be one a few folks used when I did research on it back in 2022.

Thank you — I ordered it, and I am guessing it won’t come with instructions. This looks like a standard plug. I thought it would be a plug that would accept my Oliver’s 30amp plug. I guess I am going to have to trust YouTube videos to try to understand what this does to change the behavior of my OTT — if and when I trust the information and try to use this generator to boost my lithium batteries.

I did find this article useful: https://support.olivertraveltrailers.com/portal/en/kb/articles/power-management

I still need more information though, to understand what it requires.

I am by no means an expert in this area but I understand that the bonded neutral plug is needed. I have one but have not used my generator yet to charge the batteries or run anything in the oliver.

I copied this from a thread on this topic:  https://www.rvtravel.com/rv-electricity-generator-neutral-bonding-basics/

Also found this in another thread: "Without a neutral/ground plug in an outlet on the generator, no electricity will pass through the EMS"

The neutral bonding plug goes in one of the 15A standard "household" outlets on your generator and connects the ground lead (the round third prong on the plug) to the neutral lead (one of the flat prongs). Without going into details, this is the setup the EMS expects to see, but most portable generators are not set up that way. Hence the plug.

I was worried, because I found online other “grounding plugs” that were the 30 amp style/size.

The issue i have with the “neutral grounding plug” “neutral bonding plug” concept is it ties up one of the two (Champion 2500) Generator 110v Outlets.

I just created a  10ft. 10ga. wire with a couple of large Alligator clips on each end, one to the grounding nut on my Gen., and one to a one penny spike i drive into the ground.

That way i have an open 110v plug, when the gen is doing its business with the the other outlet.  i.e. Run a coffee pot while charging the Batts.
I just do not leave the coffee outlet drawing power longer than the brew cycle.  You can hear the Gen draw down a bit.

A bit Neanderthal, but it works for me.

As an alternative, even though the ‘neutral bonding plug’ encumbers one of the duplex outlets on the generator one can always utilize the OTT’s external outlet, as needed.

This was sent me by Oliver upon request when I converted to LFPs last summer. In particular, Setting 20 (Battery Type) was switched to LFP and Setting 24 (Charger Current) on my Xantrex was checked and left at the factory 90 value for my older Freedom 2000 unit.

Most small generators only have a single duplex receptacle with two outlets. One outlet will be used for the neutral grounding plug, the other will require a 30 Amp to 15 Amp 110 Volt RV adapter. This is the one I bought from etrailer.com, but many similar are available on Amazon. I also make use of this plug at my storage facility for shore power.

Thanks for this — I have a similar adapter, bought before I picked up my Oliver.
As I look, this (new to me) generator is similar to your description. The friend who gave it to me also gave me a small adapter (I will attach photos if possible). That friend had to depart, sadly, for medical care.
So far, I haven’t run down my lithium batteries to the point where I need to use the generator (after doing so once, and then waiting a couple of days for them to rejuice with the sun). But I am not using much, hardly using the microwave and never using the AC… as it gets hotter, my frugality might be confronted by my desire for some comfort.
