Before I decided to purchase a new Elite II, I was very interested in a used 2016 Elite II. What I learned was interesting, I hadn’t heard of this. There is no value pricing for used Ott. Nada Rv only shows base price for new and no value for used or priceing for options. I learned that the only way to buy a used Ott would be a cash deal. I checked with several banks, and credit unions. No one would finance a used Ott. I also posed as a buyer at a Rv dealer, and said I had a used Ott Elite II for trade. After the salesman scratched his head and went to the manager they came back and said they can’t take it on trade. They couldn’t get financing for new buyer and there is no present value for used. At this point used Ott are selling like hot cakes and you can get close to original asking price. Which is great. The above hasn’t swayed my decision to buy New. Ott is the best I’ve ever seen. And it will out last me. Just thought the values were interesting. Something I’ve never seen before.2 points

There is a recent long thread on the Escape forum about travel to Baja. http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f39/baja-2019-maybe-14530.html2 points

Looking for specific suggestions for some good quality camp chairs. We have a pickup as the tow vehicle so space is not a huge consideration but we don't want crazy big either Secondly: How many chairs should we have with us? There are two of us but who knows when someone might swing by to say "hello"? I would think 4 chairs would be ideal but with the limited space available for the storage for all things camping, do you carry extra chairs (just in case)? Just wondering what the "norm" is here. Last fall during heavy rains at the Cherokee Rally, I had water coming in on the bottom of side windows of the trailer. When I went outside the surface tension was so strong that no water was exiting from the weep hole. You could drain the water by probing with a knife (I did not have any pipe cleaners then). I had previously been in heavy rains with no problem. The rubber seals had just been removed and cleaned. However I did use a different wax. The wax manufacturer said that the chemicals used to make water roll off the surface would also increase surface tension. Could there be a connection between the wax, inoperative weep hole, and my water intrusion ?? Just some food for thought.1 point

Yesterday, there was a rumor over on the Fiberglass RV Forum that Lil Snoozy had gone out of business. Unfortunately, this morning it appears that the rumor has been confirmed. See: http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f51/lil-snoozy-has-closed-shop-88375.html for details. Bill1 point

On the fiberglass forum it was said that there were some 42 people who have given deposits for new trailers, sorry to hear that. Signs have been out there for sometime, when Lit Snoozy says there finish time is right at two years, I would think that would ring a bell. trainman1 point

I think when most people talk about going to Mexico, they're talking about Baja, which is pretty safe and you don't have to travel through any unsafe areas to get there, except maybe Tijuana during spring break.1 point

Very sad news. We used to see their trailer model from I26 every trip to Asheville. Last time, in November, noticed it was not visible, but thought they might have taken it indide for the winter. Both their facebook page and website are taken down. I worry for their customers with deposits down.1 point

I have never been to Mexico and won’t for the foreseeable future. With so many wonderful and safe places to visit in the USA and Canada I have to ask why anyone would choose to travel anywhere in Mexico. Sure the odds are that nothing bad will happen, but I guarantee that you will be constantly worrying about becoming a target for theft or worse, or an innocent bystander in a gang shooting. I won’t ever go into the bad neighborhoods of Baltimore or East St Louis, and I consider the mainland of Mexico to fall into that category: a place to avoid. This particular state is a real doozie: ”Tamaulipas state – Level 4: Do Not Travel. Do not travel due to crime. Violent crime, such as murder, armed robbery, carjacking, kidnapping, extortion, and sexual assault, is common. Gang activity, including gun battles and blockades, is widespread. Armed criminal groups target public and private passenger buses as well as private automobiles traveling through Tamaulipas, often taking passengers hostage and demanding ransom payments. Federal and state security forces have limited capability to respond to violence in many parts of the state.” That one and the other Level 3 and 4 states - Chihuahua, Coahuila, and Sonora - are all along the US border. Check your atlas. There is no way to drive into the safer parts of Mexico (other than the Baja Peninsula) without passing through them... https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/International-Travel-Country-Information-Pages/Mexico.html John Davies Spokane WA1 point

Folding solar blanket, the good side: The cables are beautiful, using a really heavy gauge wire and high-amperage Anderson Powerpole connectors. The bad side - they are not yet sold in the USA so you would have to have it shipped in from Oz, they require a charge controller in the RV, and they are the cost of a really nice generator: ... https://www.redarc.com.au/solar-products/solar-blankets A more affordable HardKorr: .... https://fordraptorlights.com/products/hardkorr-150w-flexible-folding-solar-mat I have not seen a Chinese knockoff but I would not be surprised if there is one out there. I would buy a 120 w or larger one for up to $300. It would easily fit on a shelf in the closet or in the rear attic. There are a number of them listed at Alibaba (wholesale) but i haven’t seen them for sale here. ..... https://www.alibaba.com/countrysearch/CN/folding-solar-blanket.html?searchweb=Y& Anybody have a link to one? Those loungers are great for napping, but too big for me for comfortable seating. Camping world has a bunch of loungers on sale right now. The tan fern loungers we have had for 8 years are about half price. If you are near a camping world, you can try them out for comfort and size... Sherry1 point
