  1. Truma updated their website and they are starting to post how to's...using an Oliver as their model. Here's the youtube link: My 2019 Instructions are still the "corrected" version.... Is the final story now set? I wait to see if Truma posts an updated winterization video.

  2. The Oliver Travel Trailer Community is saddened to announce that our founder, Jim Oliver, passed away last night. As many of you know, Jim and his late brother John, were responsible for creating the original Legacy travel trailers which many of you own and love. Jim passed the baton to his children in 2014 who have created the Legacy Elite II which even more of you own and love. His wit, wisdom, and guidance will be deeply missed. Please feel free to add your thoughts, condolences, and memories of Jim to this thread.

  3. I had my latest graphic applied by a business that does car-wrapping. They have huge printers and are accustomed to preparing the surface and adhering the graphic in place, bubble and wrinkle free on a quality 3M product. If you have a good digital image of what you desire, I bet they can accommodate you.

  4. A Freind of mine is retired but still does graphics. He can make what ever you want color size etc. then have the item mailed directly to your home. Very inexpensive but high quality 3m material. Putting the graphic on is very easy. The attached photos gives his info. Hope this helps. Oliver service may do the install if asked. Not sure. Tell Bob you saw the compass graphic on the Oliver (Grant)

  5. Blue Ridge Parkway, Rockfish Gap VA to Cherokee NC, April 2019 Great drive with lots of scenic views and very little traffic this time of year. Almost all of the on-parkway visitor centers and campgrounds were still closed, but we had no problem finding campgrounds just off-parkway. Visibility is greatly reduced when the fog and/or rain rolls in, but still interesting. 8. I've been happy with the ecodiesel as a TV. It's very comfortable with the Oliver on the back. The truck actually rides a little better. Mileage wise, we averaged 17.6 mpg up and back on our Yellowstone trip, towing. Without the trailer it averages 27mpg combination city/highway. The greatest benefit to the mileage is the range. We can get over 400 miles on a tank with the trailer attached, which means we only need to fill-up once per day (usually at lunch for us); which far outlasts my bladder. It does great in the mountains. The turbo means you don't loose much power at altitude. Climbing over the passes in the Rockies, we could easily hold 50mph without too much down shifting. Coming down was easier. I usually selected 4th or 5th gear which holds the rig to 45 - 50 mph. Rarely had to touch the brakes. If I have a complaint, it is that it is quick but not fast. What I mean by that is, when passing another vehicle which is traveling fairly fast, it will jump into the passing lane with authority but as you get much over 85 there isn't much more speed availalbe and you can find yourself waiting for the trailer to clear the vehicle you're passing. I think the Hemi version of the truck doesn't have this issue. But I have found that if I need to go 90 to pass someone, do I really need to pass them?

  9. I thought I would share the BLOG my wife and I created showing the trip to pickup our Oliver Elite II - (Hull 505). We did the trip in early August 2019. The way the blog is setup you can click on the links at the top of the page to see either the "Trip to Hohenwald" ...or..."Jump to the trip home" (The pickup is on the first page of the "Trip Home" section. This should work on either a computer display...or a phone... I give this link to prospective buyers when they come visit to see our Oliver. Here's the link... https://4-ever-hitched.com/

  11. The fridge has a circuit specifically for a fan. The fans turn on and off with the compressor. They start a second or so before the compressor starts and turn off at the same time as the compressor.

  12. I just completed my changeover to a Nova Kool compressor fridge. The model I ended up with is a R5810. These photos show some of the major steps of the installation of the new refrigerator. Because the opening is a little bit too wide, I had to fabricate the four stainless brackets. They are epoxied in place and allow the fridge mounting screws to pull against the fiberglass cabinet front. The outside upper and lower vents are still removable and are sealed with closed cell foam. I used the outside access several times during the installation and can see a benefit to having outside access in the future for cleaning behind the fridge, etc. Because everything associated with the fridge is now inside the camper, it is 100 times easier to remove and replace. I disconnected the gas line outside under the camper and replaced the "T" fitting with a flair union. I plugged both ends of the gas line that runs up to the old fridge so that it'll stay clean for future use if needed. The last things that I have to fabricate are the upper and lower grills. I have 1/8 aluminum stock that I'll cut to size and mill slots in. I plan on painting these gloss white. When running the only noise (and it's very slight) are the fans I added to help remove the heat from the back of the fridge. So far the fridge has been running on battery power from the day I received the fridge now 14 days ago. There have been several cloudy days during this time and the batteries have come back to 100%. The only things running have been the fridge and the Maxxfan on auto mode. There have been temps in the camper of 95 degrees and the fridge has maintained 18-22 degrees in the freezer and 33-35 degrees in the fridge. Testing will continue with a few short trips before we head out to Quartzsite in December or January.

  16. I'm so very sorry to hear this news. Hopefully all of the immediate Oliver family knows just how saddened all of us are even those who never actually got the chance to personally meet him. There is no question that he has left this world a better place. Talk about leaving a legacy - obviously he left more than one or even two. Bill

Jim was a great guy, with an amazing vision. His entire family worked to make it come to fruition. He will be missed, by so many. Sherry
