  1. Here is our former Tiffin class A motorhome being driven away by its new owners. The timing is perfect as we were less than two weeks away from needing to put down the 50% deposit on our Oliver. We are really looking forward to July 14 our scheduled pick up date.

  2. Ollie in the vineyard - We stayed last night at Hodges Vineyard near Camp Hill Alabama last night. Our first Harvest Host Experience and it was really great. Free samples at the wine bar great cheese straws and full hook ups. We already booked again for an over nighter on our return trip from Pensacola Beach. Very kind staff and a quiet place to relax. Happy Travels!

  3. I called RecPro technical support with questions about the dehumidifier and how it functions. I sent them a graph that showed the humidity going up (or holding steady) rather than down when I used the dehumidify function. The response was that I likely had the temp set on the unit too close to the room temp. The owners manual says to set the thermostat 1 degree colder than the room temp, so I did (in Fahrenheit) - turns out it's 1 degree C and not 1 degree F. 🙂 So the recommendation was to set the thermostat AT LEAST 5 degrees F cooler than the room for the dehumidifier to operate as it should. When I followed these recommendations, I did see condensation falling off of the roof finally! Haven't had a chance to measure the humidity drop, but water is a sure sign things are working better.

  4. Oliver are you listening? No (good) reason OTT isn’t installing the Houghton units in new trailers. The Dometic Penguin is a poor choice given the noise level and the availability of something dramatically better. To potential customers reading this - insist that OTT gets with the program and installs these much quieter, better built and more energy efficient units in their 2022 trailers.

  5. For any if you still looking for a generator, this came up in our Lowe's ad today. One day sale. I'll delete this tomorrow. 2500 peak, 2200 run time. I'm pretty sure it would run my little ac, if necessary, but that's not the purpose for us. We're adding it to the generator fleet for backup for our daughter, and to run some power tools at our camping property. Some very good reviews. At the price, we'll take a shot at it. Deleted link , as it's no longer on sale. It's $599, now.

  6. IMO this is over kill. End of season yes or use Sta-Bil. With all due respect there isn't any need for draining the fuel after each use. Pat

  8. Great price. At that rate you can buy about 22 of them and still be cheaper than the new battery solar option Oliver offers🤪

  9. How many times has that one bit me, lol. Although I have zero experience with generators, I have gummed up many a chainsaw and weed whacker thinking I'll be using them again in a couple of weeks. 🙂

  10. Anyway, in a few weeks, we'll let you know how the Westinghouse works out for us. We think it's a bargain, $ per watt, with a 3% quoted thd. We'll see. At the very least, it's under 50 pounds, so I can (not easily, but I can) lift and move it. Reviews say a 10 year old can pull start it, so I should still be ok. 🤣 I have no stock in Lowe's. Just passing along what I thought was a pretty good deal.

  11. Not used that one. We'll give it a try if we ever have issues. Thanks. Sta-bil and non ethanol seems to be the ticket, for us. And, emptying the carb for longer term storage.

  12. By “after every major use” I meant if you run it a day or two in a power outage and then put it away for an unknown period of time, maybe for another six months! Drain it first! If you are on a weeks long camping trip and run it every now and then, drain it when you get back home. If you do not get into this habit, you will forget to do it and the darn thing won’t run right the next time you need it. If you transport it inside an SUV it would be wise to empty the carb first or you may get odors....Fuel stabilizer, for sure. Alcohol free gas if you can get it (all Maverik stations have it). All my power equipment runs on this. This Archoil 6200 Fuel Treatment is voodoo magic. I use it routinely in every vehicle and in my power equipment. My neighbor’s mower was surging and that is a sure sign of a plugged main jet in the carb. We tried a double strength dose of the 6200 in fresh gas and let in run. In twenty minutes the surging disappeared and it ran normally. John Davies Spokane WA

  13. I must not have been camping quite long enough - still carry more than I need😵

  14. Still - it is a decent buy. Reviews appear to support it as a good unit. Think I may pull the trigger - thanks SEA dawg. Add: I ordered one! Running till empty - only required for Looooooong term storage - all my gas equipment gets this - run empty. - except my blowers - I use them all year. RB

  19. Thanks for sharing pics of the plantation. The buildings are amazing . . . . . especially the log houses. We have a log house on our SW Oregon ranch . . . . . still occupied . . . . . though it isn't as old as those you shared.

  20. And, a couple short videos, recording the sound on low from small dinette, and high from the bed. I suspect it will be a bit more quiet when I reinstall the shades, and the rest of the cushions and rugs. Sounds still echo a bit without the soft surfaces. 20210418_084422.mp4 20210418_084309.mp4

  21. We picked up the trailer Friday, and I've been working on putting the interior back together. It's been warm and humid, so I enjoyed running the new quiet ac. I downloaded a decibel meter, and took a few readings from the small dinette area. Note the averages are "high", because the meter records every screenshot click as 81 decibels. On a few shots, you can see the bump of a screenshot being recorded on the graph. All the sound levels have been lower than normal conversations (60 db), so I'm confident we can sleep comfortably or carry on a conversation with the ac on.

  22. I think that under a bed is a truly horrible location for something you routinely access, unless you travel solo and that bed is not in use, or if it doesn’t have sheets and blankets on it. You could maybe relocate yours to a spot poking through the inner wall near the inverter, if there is room. This mini switch with key would not be very intrusive, but you would need to mount it very high under the mattress overhang so it would not get kicked. It would still be easy to access there. I picked the location up front for the main switch to keep the cable length as short as possible, I do not like long unprotected cables running all over! OTH I installed individual terminal fuses which could also be added to a standard system. I have three chargers, the Progressive Dynamics shore power one has no switch, it gets controlled by its circuit breaker under the front table. The solar and Redarc (DC to DC) chargers each have an output circuit breaker like the main DC one Oliver installs, that can be opened (turned off) by pushing the red button. They are under the rear street side bed. When towing the PD breaker is off normally, even if I plug into power. The others should be adequate for my needs, but I haven’t yet tested them in challenging conditions. I normally don’t fuss with them on the move, the Redarc one does get turned off when stored because it has a small parasitic loss. John Davies Spokane WA

  23. Wow, that is very cool, but for the average person I suggest you just watch from about 7:00 minutes to 15:00 minutes. The rest is tech talk and data crunching. His end conclusion is buy lithiums, but that decision does not take into account any extra (possibly very expensive) hassles like adding a smart shunt, changing the onboard charger, and adding a DC to Dc charger for the truck. Plus physical changes to the battery box to keep it more climate controlled. AAAAND labor expen$e$, if you can't do this stuff yourself. John Davies Spokane WA

  25. I don't see rounding off the end of the pin a problem, but modification to the actual hitch itself in an accident and lawyers today if they can find where modification have been done could cause you big problems in court. It's the same as towing a trailer with a vehicle not rated for the trailer being pulled, know your tow limits and what your tow vehicle will handle under the manufactures ratings. Yes, my 1500 RAM 4X4 needs a WDH, but a 2500 RAM does not for the Elite II, don't cut corners just because you don't want it. trainman
