  1. Russ Great news that your unit (hopefully) has been repaired. Could you give us your hull #? Maybe in the early 200 range?, when some quality control and communication issues were allowed to creep into production as they doubled the line. Might be a subject for a new thread, something else for us to check. Thank you...
  2. Standard water heater for us. You will learn when to shut off the water heater. Standard toilet is great. Dumping occasionally is no big deal. Especially if you are use to the lifestyle. Camera. Ours from the factory is about 7 1/2" on the monitor. It is so nice when passing, you can see when ton pull back in. You can bring the monitor in at night or when camped and have a security cam. Have a cam put on the front and you can see what is going on on that end as there are no windows too. Welcome, but if they find out there is an Oliver in Alaska, they will all come to visit...
  3. Just curious...did you hook the hose to the special black tank flush hookup? The flush system is not hooked to the rest of the plumbing. The hook up valve is on the driver side, outside, near the front. I also pump some antifreeze in that hose, though it doesn't take that much...
  4. Welcome to the lifestyle. Remember, as you start to gather "stuff" you might need, there are lots of stores all around this great country. Just pack two dvds and essentials. After every trip we find things we never use and plan to leave behind next trip. Enjoy the journey. Remember there are very few water wheels, water falls, country diners, flowering fields and other beauties visible from an interstate. See you around the campfire...
  5. Funny, but we showed our Oliver, here in Maine, to a couple that live and work in Houston. They happened to be visiting their daughter at college. He had done all the research and was the one wanting. She walked into the camper, looked around for a moment, turned and said: "Sold". A great visit, and I think they were calling to place their order. Good luck with your search, and if you happen to be in Maine, let me know and 'we will leave a light on for you'...
  6. Never had a problem. Do you ride in the trailer, over rough roads, listening for "burps"? Agree, you must have too much free time. Leaves are turning, deer are moving, moose are in rut...there are more things out there to keep us entertained...
  7. On my boat, the last thing before getting off, throw the big red switch. It is about 4" a round. Get on, throw switch from off to on. Get off, throw from on to off. Probably pretty easy for a local marina to install one for you.
  8. So, there are not using gaskets on the new trailers? Are they the same lights, without gaskets, as they were using? If so, how are they sealed?
  9. One thing I would try on your kits...the scissors. Some of the scissors I have seen will not cut the tape. A good pair of bandage scissors are cheap. Even Harbor Freight has a pair of EMT scissors for $1. The next thing I would, and do, carry would be a roll of 'Kling'. It is a non adhesive wrap that will secure a gauze pad or wet bandage in an emergency. It would also hold a splint or act as an ace bandage...
  10. Hull #211 has NO switch near the entry door...
  11. Just remember, a white truck is very hard to see in a snow storm or fog. As Oliver owners, we are not known just as fair weather campers. Plan accordingly...
  12. Would a thin coat of silicone adhesive be enough to hold it in? Or would that cause more problems than it's worth?
  13. I think it shows up every time you turn it on. You may be the one triggering the guest? I can't imagine that many people want to check me out....
  14. Welcome from Maine Two pieces of advice: Probably half the things you have gathered, in the spare room, can be put back. The chain saw and axe can go back, just keep the hatchet. The 100' of rope and clothes reel are a little too much. A light line and a few clothes pins will do. Plan to get off the Interstate. Put the electronic apps in the glove compartment. When you come to a stop sign flip a coin. Heads to the left, tails to the right. Some of the best nights and sights of this country are hidden from the guide books. After all, that is the advantage of an Oliver... you don't need a 5 star campground.
  15. Welcome from Maine. When visiting Florida look at Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park. 54,00o acres and no plastic faces, neon lights, or light pollution of any kind. Plenty of space to hike and the stars and Milky Way just jump off the sky...
  16. We have an early 200 range unit (211) and are extremely happy with it. They had growing pains and quality control issues, but seemed to do most everything right with mine. A few little things like drawer screws being to short, a phone call away was the solution. Things were sent right out. A component failed (stereo), and two days later it's replacement was in my mailbox. As I go in and 'do this and that' I seem to find a lot more that they have done right. We are extremely happy with unit. We used to work at a CG and used to see a lot more "horror" stories with SOB (some other brands)...
  17. We have a 2017 and they were still trying to get the RV certification to mount a center pivot. They would have provided the mount and installation, if I dropped shipped them a tv. We elected not to bother at the time. ( We figured to wait until the bugs were ironed out). We must admit we do not have a problem with it in the corner as far as operation goes. It also holds two bed pillows behind it while traveling. I do think it is a lot more aesthetic looking in the center...
  18. A hitch caution: watch where you place your fingers. We squeezed the hitch closed with the left hand, and quickly released the slide with the right. The left index finger ended up to close to the slide. The slide quickly removed several layers of skin. We sure release the slide with a lot more caution and control now. Three months later and it is still sensitive when we think about it. A great reminder to have a good and complete first aide kit on board, readily available, and know how to use it. Hopefully just for a neighbor... (Thanks, going to paint my hitch, hopefully not red)
  19. It may be what it is supposed to say, but it is NOT what it says?
  20. Did you remove the built-in unit? We have a portable Progressive and have been pleased with the electrical problems it has made us aware of. And we are made aware before we plug the camper in. With a portable you don't have to go inside to see the results. It does have fancy "dancing lights" while plugged in, so we use a pistol cable lock to secure it to the pedestal post so it doesn't get "borrowed". Probably a good bike lock would work too..
  21. I would like to see the dinette area turn into bunks. Lots of us have two grandkids or kids?
  22. Where you login in..look at the top item: Travel Trailers Scan down Scan down to where is says, Explore Elite (or EliteII) Camping trailer 4th item on the list???
  23. On this web site, where it says explore the Elite, (both the Elite and EliteII), it states a system standard to monitor both the batteries and propane. One can only imagine it would be the actual propane left in the tanks, NOT the residuals from combustion or leaks. We are not interested in adding any new systems, toys, or monitors. However, if there was a sensor that we could add to our existing, non functioning monitor, we might consider adding. It must now be available if it is being touted as a feature...
  24. A nice and through job. Probably took a lot longer to document than to actually do. We have replaced those valves and seals before (in SOB. some other brand) and it is a relative simple job. The silicone lube is really an added benefit. Always amazed how much better and easier the replaced seals work. It is a simple job that anyone should be able to do, or at least know how simple it really is if you have a repair shop do it for you. The above example is well done. A side note: be sure the lines and tanks are well flushed and drained...
  25. The overview of the Oliver trailers list as standard...propane monitoring. When did this show up? How does it work? If it works well, can it be retrofitted to older units?
