  1. On the forum, it used to be required to sign in and then sign out, in order for info to be updated. Is that still the case? Is there an advantage to ever signing out?
  2. You were extremely lucky that it was a side hit. A direct hit, especially in a car size vehicle, usually takes out their legs and the body rolls up the hood. Their body is usually 5 to 7 feet at the shoulder and can weigh from 900 to over 1000 pounds. From there it takes the top of the vehicle off down to the steering wheel. We have seen where it ends up on the roof of the camper. The results are not close to pretty. In the fall, especially, the moose will move to the roads for multiple reasons. To get way from the bugs, the heat of the roads, or able to cover larger areas in the rut. With no natural predators they will stop and stare at a vehicle dating it to come closer. Extremely lucky, and we are so glad all are OK...
  3. Why do you think chains are better than cables? I have been pleased with the 'coiled' cables as they never drag the ground and stretched in tight turns. I have other trailers with chains and always adjusting so they don't drag. Are chains stronger?
  4. Once, when leaving a private campground, there was a line at the dump station. I asked the host if I could use an emptied full service sewer site to dump? He said sure, it all goes to the same place. Not sure all host would see it that way, but it doesn't hurt to ask, and they might like the idea that you don't hold up the line. Usually they like to empty the campsites early so they can clean and get ready for the next influx. Make sure you "police" the site so they feel good about letting you do that. Leave it nicer than you found it...
  5. I have felt a little sway on occasion, but never enough to want to do anything about it. The blocks under the rear stabilizers and a bigger block under the front one seem to be all that is required. Maybe with the blocks under them, the struts are not so long, and hence sway less? I know I want nothing attached to, or resting on, my frame. At the Rally last year I talked with an Oliver owner that had bought a used Oliver that had with them on it. 2 were bent, and the other 2 were seized. Don't remember how they were attached...
  6. When ordering and gathering stuff, to fill the time waiting for our Oliver, you tend to use a spare room. Don't do it. There is more room in a garage. Sorry.. Actually almost half of the "stuff" we gathered has never been used. Some we take depends on where we are going. But that is half the fun. Search on here and you fill find list of tools and "essentials" to have on board. be sure to flash your light and save when we pass, unless there is a place to stop and chat. Happy Trails...
  7. We use a pair of 6 X 6" X 10 1/2" pressure treated blocks for the rear stabilizers. We drilled a hole through and put a piece of rope through . Easy to grab and don't take up so much room. (Careful of the toolbox lid. It might leak by the handle if left out in the rain). The blocks can be laid on the side or stacked if terrain is very uneven...
  8. Nice job. "Well Done"! I can see the need. To be able to have the gray open, while the basement is secure, is an advance forward. I do make sure I have a nearly full gray before dumping the black, but this makes it easy to do. No keys needed. Care to share the measurement?
  9. We have the "portable" Progressive 30 EMS (electrical management system). We got our unit Hull #211 before built in became available or standard. We like it and that we can plug into a pedestal and see immediately that we do/or do not have clean power. And we know without having to go into the unit, and before even the unit is plugged in. However we do secure the unit to the electric box with a pistol cable lock. The moving lights on the box seems to make people curious about what is going on. Maybe the name Beretta on the lock makes them wonder too?
  10. The smaller A.C. Should be considered an upgrade in my option. Run longer maybe but quieter. That should make it more efficient. Question is: what will it take for a generator to run it? And would an Easy Start be required?
  11. Look at the price of a used one, if you can find one. Your price comes into line, and still less than an Airstream.
  12. Welcome from Maine and another 2017 hull #211. Let the questions begin...
  13. I have thought that a curtain in there was unnecessary. A cumbersome thing to hang, move, c!ean, look at, and move around. However, after looking at these picture, I may have to change my mind. With this setup, one can leave the window open while running the vent. But, maybe most important, one can keep towels in the shower area, instead of on a book outside the door.
  14. Interesting...did you drive the Oliver to Iceland? Ferry?
  15. Consider a sleeping bag. No corners to tuck in.?
  16. We use the non-toxic anti freeze to flush with when traveling. We carry potable water in the TV (tow vehicle) and use that for our needs. A tea kettle provides any heated water we might need. Our refrigerator runs on DC while underway, and switched to propane when the heat is turned on. The unit heats up quite nicely and quickly. We "dewinterize" once we cross south bound the Mason-Dixon line, and with an eye on the weather. Usually we return North when chance of freezing is gone, but we have the hose and anti freeze with us ...in case.
  17. Welcome from hull #211. Thinking about your comments. Another thing to like about the Oliver... I don't have to "touch-up" the bottom paint in the Spring. (what's a y'all?). See you around the fire, and be sure to ask the questions, besides lines becoming ropes, everything is about the same...
  18. Welcome from hull #211. It feels like we had just ordered ours too, but it was 2016. Time will fly, but it is 75 days to Spring here in Maine, so yours may come sooner there. See you around a camp fire.😊
  19. Try an extension and a universal. Should work.
  20. Ok, what am I missing. If a 3/8" torque wrench reads 50 ft lbs, and a 1/2" torque wrench reads 50 ft lbs, don't they both measure 50 ft lbs? 3/8" wrenches have 9/16 sockets and universals. Why do they need a 1/2"? Harbor Freight also had them on sale for $ 19.00..
  21. I am going to install a vent high up to the left of the bathroom door. It was a Fall project, but Winter decided to visit. If you have ever had the bathroom fan going, and closed the door, you have heard it struggle to get enough air. By the same token, it must be hard for heated air to get in there, through the heating system, with the door closed or the vent closed (restricted). The hope is with freer flowing air there will be less noise from the furnace system.
  22. My question, if your black tank is larger than your tote, are you subject to overflow? An overflow would mess up the campsite, and make storage and cleanup of the tote tedious. How do you know when the tote is almost full? Would it gush out a vent? It would be nice if they had some kind of gauge.
  23. My guess is that the local VFW Auxiliary would love to fill orders as a way to raise funds. If Oliver was to just recover costs, it would reap many benefits for them in brand recognition (and a lot cheaper than advertising). Brand recognition and awareness is in valuable, ask any major sports team...
  24. I always blow out all the lines first with air. Then our water heater is put on bypass. I hand pump antifreeze into the city inlet until it comes out the outside shower. Then we hook up the short hose, open the cold bathroom faucet, and turn on the pump..and so forth, and so forth...
  25. Robin at Bannana Banners did our front graphic. I gave her an idea of what I wanted and the side stripe colors on the Oliver. She e-mailed the image to me for approval. I stopped by to pick it up, as she is only a few miles away. It was in a mailing tube, and she would have mailed it. (She has since done a couple of family business trucks). We installed it at a campground after picking up the Oliver. It took longer to clean the front with denatured alchol than it did to install. I was impressed how easy it was to install, and to do business with Robin.
