This was our first travel trailer, had only tent camped many years ago with the kids. Being new to all this and alittle nervous when we actually picked it up and then out on our own I figured it might be a good idea to video the delivery. As they went over all the options and how things worked on the trailer I had my wife video all of it. We stayed at the Oliver campground Friday and Saturday checking things out then went to spend a night at Davey Crockett with eventually ending up at a COE campground in Mississippi. During our initial trip(s) we would look at each other and ask, "what did he say about that" and would just go look at the video. Don't be afraid to ask all the questions you have. Congrats on your new Ollie!! Checklists have saved me in just the few times we have been out, setting up and taking down, Our first multi-day stay was at a COE in the northern part of Mississippi and we got a spot right on the water. About 30 minutes after we get setup a nice man came paddling up in a kayak and asked us how we liked our Oliver. Turns out he used to work for Oliver a few years back, He even offered assistance if we needed any during that weekend.

We seem to get the ice storms in southern Ohio a few times in the winter. Good - beautiful scenery ... Bad - loss of power, horrible driving conditions

I have been to Albuquerque many times but it been a few years now and never the balloon fiesta. I would be very interested in going in the next couple of years. Any advice on where to stay etc would be very much appreciated.

Hello Rene and welcome !! I think you made an excellent choice!! I found these forums very helpful in my search then in my options. Don't be afraid to reach out to members on here. They have been very helpful with my questions.

A quick look on the internet I found this https://www.ford-trucks.com/specs/2006-2/2006-ford-f-150-specifications/ Without knowing more about your TV I would say looking at these charts that towing the Elite ll might be more than your TV should tow. I know I would not want to tow with that. I think the Elite ll weighs almost 5000lbs empty. I figure that after we put our things in our that we are pushing 6000 lbs.

We will be in E21 for the rally. We love music but my talent ends at sitting around listening lol.

Just an FYI for some. We tow with a 2014 F150 Crew Cab with 6.5ft bed with the 3.5L Eco Boost. We have the max towing package and heavy duty payload package. The Max payload for our is just over 1800lbs. I think I was pretty close to that when we left Ohio to pick up our Oliver last July..lol. We have the Anderson and the Oliver tows great. Towing we get about 12 mpg, alittle better on the back roads. Without towing around 17 here in the only hills in Ohio. I have had zero problems with the 3.5 so far. Not sure the life expectancy of that engine but so far so good. It will be more expensive to fix than the V8 but I hope I dont have to find that out. We plan to start taking longer trips (multiple weeks) in the next year or two so I will probably be looking to upgrade myself. Currently the TV has just over 152K miles but runs like a champ. My decision is go with newer F150 or move up to 3/4 and then of course gas vs diesel. If you research this there has to be hundreds of articles or videos on that alone. As many has said "comes down to personal preference and planned usage"

I am not sure how it happened. I asked the Service Department if it could have been something I did. The ball was loose. Service had seen it before and just replaced it. No problems since.

Congratulations from Hull 1182!! I also recommend staying in the area if at all possible. We stayed at Davey Crockett State Park for a couple days and on to a nice COE in Northern Mississippi. We spent about 5 days total. We returned to Oliver to purchase a rug my wife saw and asked a couple questions about things that happened, just wanted to make sure I understood. They did replace the ball on the anderson hitch that failed as well as address a flickering light (occasionally) in the bathroom overhead storage area. Both fixes were done right there, no waiting. I am learning more and more and feeling more comfortable each time out about how things work. This is our first travel trailer so we were alittle overwhelmed at first. Enjoy and Safe Travels

I use the one like Frank C has near the top of this thread. When traveling we usually allow plenty of time and dont mind taking the wrong turn somewhere. After all we are exploring this great country so many times it isnt really a wrong turn so much as going a different way...lol

Alittle update for those travel thru Ohio or need to in the near future. State wide average for Diesel this morning was $5,29 per gal.

I saw Diesel at $5.85 gal at local station last night. Regular gas (87) was $3.13 gal

I agree with SeaDawg on the visit. I had Oliver set up a visit with a wonderful couple actually about two and half years before we put our deposit down. It confirmed to us that this was the right travel trailer for us. We waited to get the order in and that was the only thing I wish I had back, could of been enjoying it longer. This pic is from our pickup week in July, enjoying lunch inside since the heat index was over 100 in northern Mississippi in late July.

We have so many on our list. We basically want to travel the country but a couple on top are Alaska, the Northeast, and New Mexico/Southern Colorado.
