You can use the "Fuel Keg" or the "Flame King" 1 lb bottles in any place that you used to use the regular "disposable" 1 lb bottles. Hope this helps. Bill

The "new" Jason has got some big shoes to fill, but, the "old" Jason will still be around with the Service area still reporting under him (i.e. the "new Jason" will report to the "old" Jason). Obviously, the "old" Jason also has some pretty big shoes to fill in replacing Rodney. But, even Rodney (in his new job) will still be around in order to answer questions that the "old" Jason might have. I'll second @Shawna and Scott in wishing all those involved congratulations and the best of luck. Bill

Not Winterizing - One Strategy...

That's what many in the Asheville area sadly said before Helene roared through killing over 100 people. π’ -
@Ronbrink's post about propane tank cover (really nice price on his cover BTW) got me to thinking about a recent purchase I did. A couple of years ago I refinished the tray that holds my Ollie's propane tanks and while I was at it I cut a plastic liner so that the metal bottom on the tanks would not "damage" my nicely repainted tray. Mission accomplished! However, the propane tanks still left a rust ring on the plastic.π So, I recently purchased a set of THESE (rubber protective rings) for the bottom of the tanks. I've not received them yet but at that price I was willing to take a chance. Bill

Fiberglass repair is really not very difficult to do as long as you don't mind filling - sanding, filling - sanding, repeat (plenty of YouTube vids and info available over at the FiberglassRV.com forum). The biggest issue is getting the gel coat color to match. The folks at Oliver should be able to tell you exactly what color you have and even (perhaps) send you a small amount of it. I know that they spray it on for any of the small repairs that I've seen them do. Good luck! Bill

THAT looks like a "Holiday Gift Stuff" to me! Bill

Perhaps Black Friday is a good day to start a thread about 2024 potential gift items. I have used one pound bottles of propane for a long time but have always hated the thought of simply throwing them away when they were empty. Yes, I tried recycling them but found that difficult to do given the few places that will accept them. Yes, I tried connecting a hose to a larger tank but found that to be a bit cumbersome. Yes, I tried a five pound tank but didn't like it. Finally, a couple of years ago I saw a one pound tank (Flame King) that was (legally) designed to be refilled. But, there were a couple of design items of that tank that I didn't like. Finally, about a year ago the company that makes the Big Buddy/Mr. Heater propane heaters can out with a refillable one pound tank that seemed to be what I was looking for, so, I bought a couple - a Fuel Keg. To use this tank I also needed what they call the Refill Kit. I've now used these tanks and refilled each of them three times with no problems. It is a simple process that takes less than five minutes (from dead start to putting everything back where I got it). A full one pound goes into each tank during the refill and they work exactly like the old disposable tanks but you simply don't throw them away. Assuming that you can purchase the throw away tanks for $5.00 each and I refill each of the refillable tanks about ten times I will start to save money in addition to not adding to the landfill. There are a ton of review videos (like THIS one) or (THIS one for Flame King) on YouTube. Happy shopping! Bill

Hull # 117 looks like the day it left the factory - no cracks at all. Bill

If you had let us know the year of your Ollie we could be in a better position to answer your question. However, in any case, find the wires coming out of the back side of the detector and follow them until you find the fuse on the negative wire. On older Ollies this is just a short distance from the back of the detector. Bill

Weigh Safe 180 Aluminum hitch with 3β shank, 10β drop

Great addition, John. Now, grab a can of Krylon semi-gloss black spray paint and give that hitch a shot. All will look new again. Bill -
Isotherm refrigerator storage
topgun2 replied to BlueHighways's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
I've got no solution (other than pulling the plug on that LED) for the fridge light(s) problem. But, in order to keep any odors at bay while in storage, first take a half dozen newspaper pages, crumple them up and stick them in the fridge and freezer with the door(s) cracked open. Bill -
Norcold Fridge Hinge Parts - Availability Issue?
topgun2 replied to DunnYet's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Might something like THIS work for keeping that door closed? Bill p.s. "invention is the mother of necessity" and I really like your work. -
That front wheel drive must be awesome though. π€ͺ

Weigh Safe 180 Aluminum hitch with 3β shank, 10β drop
topgun2 replied to Patriot's topic in Towing an Oliver
I'll chime in on the hammer locks: Patriot put me on to these a couple of years back and they are everything they are supposed to be as both Patriot and GJ state above. Perhaps the only downside I can think of with these is that they could be a bit of a problem to remove. But, why remove them? Bill -
Propane cover weather stripping
topgun2 replied to Dave Mazone's topic in Mechanical & Technical Tips
Yep - same stuff I referenced above. Bill -
What better reason do you need?π

No need to remove - but - it would be helpful to many to know what the original "problem" was in order to reference it back. Bill

I've never had a problem with the single sharkbite fitting I put into my Ollie. I made sure to secure the fitting and pipes near it very well so that it does not move. I still carry a few spares (sharkbite straight and 90 degree fittings) with me in case I need to do a repair while on the road. However, if doing a pex repair of mod at home I use a crimp. Bill

Strange how this works!π
