Oliver Decals

I called Oliver last week wanting to get a set of the newer side text graphics, but they quoted $345.13 for just the two Oliver Legacy Elite II graphics, so I declined. 

My current trailer only has the front graphic, which measures 27" wide. 
I'd like to put the side Oliver text graphic on.  Can someone measure the width of that text decal and let me know how wide that is?  From what I can guess, that text is the size of the storage door, which is about 29".

I may just create the graphics file and have a local shop print them.

One big naked egg! I can only see doing that for those who want their own custom graphics, like many here have done. I only want our Oliver to look like what Oliver produced when it was new. Crazy for an organization to lose their own artwork!

One should not have to pay for their advertising, at least not that much!

Thanks CRM for the measurement.  I made a graphics file for the front and side decals.  

Now I just need to find a print shop to print them 🙂

And, if they're only coming "naked" now, they should probably stop advertising the new models with front and side graphics.  Or maybe they're just now an upcharge on new models?

I was told by OTT that they did not have decals, nor the artwork, so perhaps they cannot add graphics anymore if they wanted to.

Most likely, they may not have the big swoosh graphic files if they shopped those out to a specialist.  If they did their graphics and decals in-house, then the person who used to do them must have left without any knowledge sharing.  My assumption is that the folks at their headquarters don't have the graphics or computer skills to reproduce them... it's not hard, if you know how to recreate them 🙂

Maybe I should sell them the files they need to recreate them, but after seeing what they wanted to charge me, I'd be less inclined to do that.

No Oliver logo on the nose would look really strange! We ordered our 2023 naked, and added our own graphic. We've had a lot of people ask what a "Curiosity" trailer was. We've heard "Is that some kind of Casita?", or the guy in Florida who looked it over rally well walking by, but wasn't inclined to chat. He returned the next day to tell me that he'd looked up Curiosity trailers, and that it was a really expensive trailer!

No Oliver logo on the nose would certainly seem to cut down on random inquiries and potential sales!

 

Here's a Curiosity brand trailer next to an Oliver at the Hungry Mother Fiberglass Rally. You can barely tell the difference! 🤣

Why would a for-profit company forego having their name and logo on what they are producing? Makes no sense. In fact, IMHO, they could be charging a fee for leaving the graphics off since it is reducing their advertising and name recognition.

Least we not forget -

virtually all of our Olivers still have the Oliver name at the "third brake light " position.

As this discussion lingers on I would hope that everyone would re-read my post in this very thread from this past Saturday at 2:38pm.  We are working on finding the real and complete story on the situation with decals.  I will post back here when I have answers.  Again, please be patient during this process.

I put in an order to a decal shop to get the side rear text decals.  We'll see how they turn out.

True. And I understand people wanting to make the trailers their own. It just seems the prominent wording remaining standard is most beneficial for the brand. Thanks for looking into it Bill...I am curious now.

Our front graphics are becoming a bit tattered like many others so I might just take what’s left of them off. Personally I don’t think the front being naked looks all that bad myself but do like the company name at the rear which luckily those are still in good condition. The third brake light is totally shot and has been for sometime. Not sure what to do about that other than complete removal. 1st World Problems, not a big deal to me.

Assume that you already know that the "third brake light" is nothing but a decal placed (on the outside) over a red lens?

Put the new side decals on.  Looks like nice quality decals and went on easily.  I clay bared the sides first, then hit them with a 3M 1 stage buffing compound, then wiped and cleaned it before measuring it out.  Drew vertical lines about where the doors are below where it goes, then measured to the middle of the bond line and door.  I came up with 8.5" down from the bond line and that was the center of my decal placement.  $73.71

Agreed, it sure does look good. And excellent installation work too!

I'll keep my side decals for now (pic). They're in decent shape and they are of the vintage style. I would like to replace the front Oliver logo, not as good in condition.

I have time. I'll use Christian's artwork unless Bill @topgun2 is successful in hunting down OTT original artwork. Thanks to both of you!

I ASSUME that the cost would be for two.    Regardless, a 50% discount would make the advertisement more likely to be replaced over time.  Also improves the look of the fleet as it ages.

Yes the $73 was for the two side decals that say Oliver Legacy Elite II.  Just those two decals.
