I moved this out of the "How to use the forums" section and into General Discussion. The extra width of the Airstream, as with most stick built trailers, allows them more freedom with the floor plans. They also measure 23' as the length of the box, whereas Oliver measures from tongue to bumper, so the AS is actually 5' longer. Their 19' Caravel/Bambi is probably the closest to the Elite II in size, though they're still a foot larger in both length and width. But there has been talk and rumors of a larger Oliver for as long as I've known about the company, and it is certainly a likely avenue for expansion. I imagine though that there needs to be another step in both production capability and general demand before Oliver goes down that path.2 points

UPDATE - 21000 miles, 12000 of them towing the Ollie - still love this truck. Averaged 14-15 mpg on the last trip (8300 miles). Biggest issue is remembering your towing something, and looking down and realizing your going 80 mph.....yikes. And the Ollie - just as satisfying, can't think of one thing I'd complain about, but much to praise. A great match. GMC 2500 and the Ollie EII.2 points

Update..... when you raise the back of the frame by lowering the jacks, the hull flexes, which is completely normal, and the clothesline sags. Thus: ***** It is MOST IMPORTANT that you never remove that droop by further tightening the turnbuckle! ***** Doing so would probably cause damage to the front or rear attach points when you raised the jacks back up and the hull settled back into its normal shape. Just saying... please use some common sense if you do this useful mod. John Davies Spokane WA2 points

I just purchased one of many gadgets for the Ollie thought I’d share it. From where else amazon. The make is Opolar model # CF02 mini car fan. It has USB plugin, mounts anywhere with suction cup. Has four fan speeds and is super quite. It moves a lot of air. The only thing is the USB cable is 10’ long i had a 6” cable that works great. I posted the pictures of it mounted. I’m not sure how to post the item on this site from amazon. If any one can help? Thanks I’m going to purchase a 2nd for the other side.1 point

Joseph is a very cool little town way back in the boonies of NE Oregon. Getting around takes lots time since there is the Eagle Cap Wilderness to the south and Hells Canyon to the east. The roads can be lumpy and tight and always have ferocious elevation changes. https://josephoregon.com/ Joseph is affluent, and nearby Wallowa Lake and the state park at the south end draw lots of visitors in summer. The lake area is highly developed with beaches, boats, aerial tramway to the top, and even a back country outfitter where you can ride a horse far away and far up..... the main street is very attractive, with bronze statuary everywhere because there is an art foundry in town (tours daily). You can buy your own statues, I saw one that was going for $147,950..... LOL. I did say “affluent”. It closely resembles the best Colorado ski resorts without the altitude or skiing... elevation is 4200 ft, the mountains go to around 10,0000 ft. The 5 Peaks RV park is privately owned and on a quiet dead end street two blocks from the downtown stores and a quarter mile from the foundry. Six blocks away you can board a free shuttle bus that goes to nearby attractions. Full hookups, high speed wifi, cable tv, no restroom or showers. $40 per night. There are five older heavily shaded sites like this (ours is number 4) and five brand new ones in full sun. This is what greets you as you drive up. .... Two days ago we drove up into the Blue Mts near Walla Walla to a spectacular fire lookout on Table Rock .... .... tomorrow we are driving to Inmaha Oregon and Hat Point Lookout on the west edge of Hells Canyon, 6500 ft above the Snake River. “Mouse” stays at home base for these side trips, they are far too rough, rutted, and brushy, and passing another vehicle while towing could be impossible. The days are long, the speeds low, and services are nonexistent. What fun....! John Davies Spokane WA1 point

I have a Champion 3400 Dual Fuel inverter Generator. It’s quiet but heavy (94lbs). I’ve been carrying it with us a backup for solar and haven’t really needed it. It has less than 10 hours runtime. While at Tractor Supply yesterday I noticed they had the smaller Champion 2000 on sale for $399. It’s gas only, 38lbs, 2000w startup and 1700w running and is quieter than the big one at 53dba. So, I picked one up and put my big one up for sale. As a backup the smaller one makes more sense.1 point

Well, I look at the floorplans, but wouldn't buy an Airstream...too many quality issues. You are so very right..quality is so far below OTT. To be honest, before happening upon OTT and this forum, I was very uneducated on travel trailers in general. What I have learned from this forum (and others) beats my college degree by miles and miles!! I wouldn't fulltime in anything but an Oliver. Not just the exceptional quality, but the exceptional service. And I do hate to sound like a girl...but, Olivers are pretty. Whereas, the streamlined beauty of the Olivers may not be real high on the priority lists of some folks, it is me. Airstreams are pretty, but from reading the airforum posts over time, there are just too many quality control issues with brand new Airstreams. Overland, thank you so much for explaining the length measurement differences between the two trailer types. I was unaware of the difference.1 point

That's a surprising amount of slack, and it makes me wonder how much the trailer flexes the other direction when bumping over rough roads (and what damage the clothesline might potentially cause over time). Maybe worth adding a bit of additional slack to the line, or a spring at one end like Mike suggested, or swapping out the stainless cable for a bungee?1 point

Trained mice with little disinfectant scrubbers on their feet. That's the usual way. I wouldn't worry about your vent pipes. They're stinky by design.1 point

I always appreciate JD's mods. This particular one seemed cool, but I seem to shy away from drilling and adding permanent attachments on the interior. I settled for some (4) large marine suction cups and a length of purple shock cord. We move it around to suite our needs. It has worked out very well, and works outside as a nice drying line.1 point

Hello! My husband, Travis, and I are purchasing Raspy's Oliver (hi, Raspy!). It is safe to say that I am SO excited to own an Oliver. Travis and I looked at every type of RV, and were disappointed in every one until we found Oliver. I am in the Army (I have been in for 15+ years), and Travis is an amazing auto body technician. We would like to find telework jobs in a few years so we can use our Oliver more, but for now we'll take short, less frequent trips. We named our Oliver "Opus" long before we were able to purchase a trailer. Opus is named after our favorite wine, Opus One. One of our first long trips will be to Napa to visit Opus in Opus. ? For now, I will only ask one of my 4,267 questions. Has anyone added the reading lights on their own? We want them, and I can't find a forum thread about it. I did, however, find one that identifies the correct light. Thank you all. I look forward to meeting you someday. - Monica1 point

Hi Monica! Welcome to the Forum! I think this is the reading light, from Amazon. The picture below left is from Amazon, and the one on the right is from elsewhere on the web. I think you need to drill a hole in the fiberglass for the wires, and attach the bracket (2. Fix Bracket onto surface) from below. Then attach the lamp to the bracket with the hex key.. You would then need to connect the wires into the 12V system in the wiring harness, which is at the back of the overhead compartments.1 point

I can’t post a link to an Amazon product from within the Amazon app using an iPad or an android. So I go to the Amazon site through a web browser and copy the link from there. As an example, see the picture below. Copy “amazon.com” from the browser search bar. It is the highlighted window in the picture and paste that in the posting. You can paste that in a different browser window to test it. Mike1 point
