If Mike disappears from the forum suddenly, the moderators would like to assure everyone that it will only be a coincidence.3 points

Thank you Susan for asking this question about redundant CO detectors. My 2017 LEII came with two CO detectors. One of them is paired with the Atwood Propane/CO detector under the dinette. The other is paired with the First Alert Smoke/CO Alarm unit, which is under the attic near the television. And I will state that I am not sure if the 2020 or 2021 Oliver’s are equipped with two CO detectors, so there is a small chance that topgun2 is correct. I must admit to a small amount of pleasure I gain when correcting a forum moderator.😂😂😂 Mossey3 points

Dang it! I hate when this happens - specially if it is Mike that points to the error of my ways. I guess that I've never really looked at the smoke detector and just assumed that it was ONLY a smoke detector. Sorry about that. Bill2 points

I don’t want to derail this Ollie photo thread, but to answer your question our understated swooshes which we like and preferred are silver met and yes we felt that 4 days was long enough for our shake down. In the sun the silver met swoosh’s are really very light colored and matches our Tundra paint as close to perfect as we could ask for. We farm blueberries aka (super food) on a small scale, so we needed to get back home to the Blue Ridge foothills and get super busy. Leaving on a Saturday was perfect as the weekend campers were all settled in and we had the road(s) for the most part to ourselves. Hohenwald is only 450 mi from our home. A great trip home through Tenn and Western NC. We are fortunate to be able to park our Oliver at our home.2 points

I called Xantrex (it’s been a couple of years or so) and they spent an hour or so on the phone troubleshooting various things that I can’t recall. What finally did the trick was to simply power it down totally by disconnecting it from everything and letting it sit for a day. When I hooked it back up all was well. If you call their support number they are very willing to walk you through troubleshooting. Hope this helps! Mike2 points

This is the standard pin, it has a very slight and rough 45 degree bevel on the small end: I used a file and a belt sander to make a nice tapered bullet contour. I polished it with 360 grit sandpaper after reshaping it. Optional: the holes in the ball mount did not have much of a taper: I used a 1” drill bit plus tapered polishing stones to open it up and smooth the inside edges where the pin will slide past. You only need to do the left side, the one you normally insert the pin from Now it slides in with much less fussing and swearing. John Davies Spokane WA1 point

GAIA Premium allows downloading ALL the wonderful USFS maps, plus the MVUM layer. Without the MVUM you simply don’t know where to drive. What appears to be a main route will turn out to be a brush infested ATV track .... the popup Info window for the road tells you immediately. I lay out routes in different colors, here is an example in ID with the MVUM layer also active. I When you get out of the National Forest the Public Land and Private Land layers show you clearly where you can and cannot go. I quit buying those expensive paper USFS maps years ago, they just get torn, lost and outdated.... plus some states have so many different Forests (Oregon has eleven) that, realistically, at $9 each you just can’ buy them all. I haven’t stayed there in an RV, but used to spend a bunch of time at the property +30 years ago when I was a student at the University of Mn-Duluth. I got to know enough of the guys with sailboats in the marina that I’d be part of race crews, help deliver boats around Lake Superior, and help with boat maintenance. I’ve walked by it several times in the last few years and it looks like they’ve added a hotel and cleaned up most of the boatyard junk. The location is great, but don’t expect much for on site beauty. The view in the distance of the working harbor and Duluth hills will be nice, but the immediate view will be of an asphalt parking lot and chain link fence. It’s just a parking lot for secure winter boat storage repurposed for summer RV’s. From memory, it’s not far off from a Walmart parking lot, but with hookups. It’s going to be awning to awning tight. People and cars will be coming and going at all hours as they access their boats. The good news is that it’s at a great location on Park Point and walking distance to the Park Point beach, Canal park, the Lake walk, at least three breweries, one distillery, a whole bunch of restaurants, and down town Duluth. My wife and I met at the University. We still go up to visit almost annually. My parents honeymooned in Duluth. If you’re going to visit Duluth and need a central spot to park before heading out on the town, it’s a GREAT location. If you’re looking to just hang out at the marina campground, there are other choices in all directions from Duluth that I’d rather spend time. HTH, Ken1 point

It will run my small Atwood Air Command AC with NO Soft Start, plus the converter and the fridge electric heating element. I am sure it would run the standard AC unit (by itself) if it had the SS. And you are correct, it cannot be paralleled. It is very quiet at 53 dBa and standing outside I can’t hear it over the quiet Atwood fan noise from 10 feet away. One easy pull starting, every single time, if you run it dry before shutting it down. I did add a $20 digital hour meter/ tachometer to keep track of service. Highly, highly recommended! I use a super duty 25 foot 12 AWG 15 amp extension cord and it gets very slightly warm to the touch. If I had to run the cord further I would use my 15 to 30 A adapter and the Oliver supplied 30 A black cord as an extension. I have never needed more than the 25 foot yellow cord. Interesting posts: I am satisfied with my Dometic fridge - it has done just fine the last many trips, it was the first few that set me against the darn thing. The AC - as stated by others - and move it to the front of the trailer, just aft of the bath wall. Option with compost toilet, black tank delete, larger grey water and fresh water tanks. Option those cool Aussie off road running gear. Can't recall the brand. and that's about it. Currently parked on a bluff overlooking the Dinosaur/Vernal valley, just biding the day away....1 point

I decided not to add screen to my Truma vent. It was not gonna be as easy and clean as the fridge, so it was not done.1 point

In your shoes I would choose a much bigger mesh size and epoxy it behind the slots. I don’t see how a 10 mm mesh could possibly obstruct airflow. It would certainly keep out larger insects, like those pesky Murder Hornets. Add a strong magnet on the inside at each corner and along the edges and make a solid “storage cover” from Sunbrella or a vinyl fabric, with matching magnets (observe polarity!) to slip onto the outside when the heater is dormant. I don’t think you should travel with it installed, so a bright color would be good so you will remember to remove it. I have some like these, I actually use them to hold an old cotton sheet over a gun safe, they are super strong for their size, you have to watch your fingers when getting them close together.... https://www.amazon.com/DIYMAG-Refrigerator-Magnets-Premium-Brushed/dp/B07B3SDRCP/ref=sr_1_9?dchild=1&keywords=Neodymium%2BDisc%2BMagnets&qid=1593276158&sr=8-9&th=1 .... depending on the thickness of the Truma access door you might need bigger ones. It could involve some trial and error. Let us know how it works out so I can make some for the fridge grills for dusty roads. I get dust infiltration all the way into the cabin, along the lower sill of the fridge door. ;( John Davies Spokane WA1 point

I personally would not choose a Thailand-built Honda generator, motorcycle or other power equipment, but this particular problem should not concern you too much. Unless you also plan to operate your generator on the bow of your sailboat.... Google “Honda EU-2200 Recall Forum” for some discussions. From a boating forum ( unsubstantiated statement, but not the only place I have heard this) “Honda has denied warranty coverage to boaters that used their generators daily and wore them out within the warranty period. The warranty is by calendar time, not running hours and they had no right to do what they did. I know of at least two cases like that which were posted on different cruising websites.” OTH Honda has always been good to me for the (excessive number of) recalls I have dealt with. Buy a Yamaha 😉 John Davies Spokane WA1 point

Montana and South Dakota are 2 of the popular places. Check out America’s mailbox” in South Dakota. For a small fee they will do everything for you. In Montana there are attorneys that will set up an LLC and get you and address for it. You can get a driver’s license in both states pretty easily. There is some question as to the legality of theses options.1 point

I think you probably have to register in the state where you have a driver's license. You need to move to Oregon!! . . . . . well, on second thought . . . . . not the best choice right now 😷1 point

Susan, I had "Mouse" delivered totally naked, and after two years of people asking "Is that some kind of Casita?" I ordered a set of Ollie decals and installed them myself in a line, as you describe. The number of questions has dropped exponentially. The right side is a mirror image - the big "OLIVER" is at the rear. It looks very nice IMHO, understated and not too big. It is easy to install graphics if you prep correctly, use tape and a level as aids, and don't drink any beers before hand. I aligned the bottom of the small letters with the bottom of the large letters. If the factory won't do this, ask them to just leave them off and give you the decals, they can leave them in a drawer. In the middle of the Idaho Panhandle, we pulled off the highway into a river access point, and I think we ran over Dorothy. Only her Ruby Slippers were left...... Later, on a gravel bar (Island Bar CG, BLM, free) of the Salmon River three miles from Riggins: The view out the back was stellar, in Picture Window Mode (frame held up with a rope), including fly fishermen, lots of rafters and a few jetboats: John Davies Spokane WA1 point

Our fridge is fine. It has run continuously for 4 and half years. No fails. Worked on propane boondocking at 9,000+ feet. If we’re not boondocking it is on shore power. Haven’t used 12V. I know there are better options out there, but our fridge has been a reliable appliance. Mike1 point

John - I'm sure that Anita in the Sales Office can get that for you. Just give them a ring - there really isn't any "sales pressure". Bill1 point

This past September I got a chance to see one of the new "printers" that had just been installed. Pretty impressive! This area does virtually all of the printing for all of the Oliver companies - not just the Travel Trailers. Bill1 point

At the Pisgah Inn on the Parkway they sell a grey t-shirt with the label - "The view from Mt. Pisgah" - on it. Bill1 point

My wife and I just recently got back from a trip to Newfoundland (where I am from). We spent a day driving up to Bonavista and saw several campers docked cliff-side in fields just off the road overlooking the ocean and watching the whales swim past. There is no doubt that our Oliver will make an appearance up there in the near future.1 point

Parked outside the Clark Fork Pantry, a stunning bakery and cafe in the teeny town of Clark Fork Idaho, way up in the Panhandle, next to the gorgeous Clark Fork River. Truck and trailer are filthy, but we have been asked twice on this thousand mile trip if the trailer is new..... I don't quite know what to make of that. John Davies Spokane WA1 point
