We camped at Julian Price Campground several years ago. Fun lake to Kayak on! No electric or water on their sites. Sites A30, A32, A33, A34 & A35 look like nice sites with some sun. E loop has some nice sites with sun, too. Last time we were there restrooms were not clean. We like the non-reservable sites for last minute access. Probably busy on the weekends, too. With the Geezer card should be around $10 per night. There is a private campground at Linville Falls with hookups: http://www.linvillefalls.com/ If anyone in the group likes chocolate, there is a Kilwins chocolate factory at Blowing Rock. There's a BBQ resturant at Blowing Rock, too, don't remember their name. https://www.kilwins.com/stores/kilwins-blowing-rock-1 If you head toward Asheville on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Christa's at Pineola on Rt. 181 & BRP is a good place for breakfast and lunch. There is a campground on Rt. 181 between Rt. 221 and BRP that has hookups, but have never camped there. If anyone likes hiking, drive to Table Rock parking area for an easy hike to the top with nice views. Grandfather Mountain is a State Park, but have not been there for years. Linville Falls Park is another nice place for a hike to overlooks to see the falls. If it has not been raining too much and you have a 4WD vehicle, Wiseman's View is a beautiful place to visit. After we visit Wisemans View, we will continue on Old NC 105 to the end when it turns back into pavement, but if it's been raining much, don't recommend traveling over the complete road. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g49294-d4339937-Reviews-Wiseman_s_View-Linville_North_Carolina.html Wisemans View on Old NC 105: Old NC 105 view of Shortoff Mountain while riding a dual sport bike:4 points

BillySevel I had the same problem trying to figure out how to reinstall the egress window screen. The screen is mounted outside the widow channel using four metal clips. The clips snap into the edge of the plastic channel. Just hold the screen in place and push until you hear it snap. It took me several frustrating minutes to figure it out.4 points

Back in the day, those Hehr covers were probably only a dollar or so. I was surprised at the increase. I need to replace one on my 2008 trailer. They weren't original equipment, at least not then. @DCKiefer found them, and shared the idea with the early owners. I do think they help with runoff, and to help minimize collection of debris in the weeps. They are pretty sturdy. And, removeable for cleaning. Mine are over 10 years old.2 points

We camped at Banner Elk - what a nice little town in a really scenic part of NC. I can’t recommend a campground, but have a funny story about where we camped…. The short version - we met the couple next to us while camping at Unicoi State Park in north GA. He (Kevin) asked where we were going next, I told him (it was a COE campground down the hill from Banner Elk). He said don’t go there, keep going up to Banner Elk. I asked if he would recommend a campground, he said no, camp in the parking lot of my business, JACKS Glass Shop for as long as you want, W/E included and there is a shower and small kitchen in the shop. So we did. It was a great camping spot. We sent him a bunch of TX BBQ supplies when we got home for him to use on his future camping trips!2 points

BT, welcome! Hail isn’t a big concern with the Oliver, we’ve been through several hail storms (medium to small hail) with no issues. Since everything is molded to shape there’s also no worries about cabinets and other interior features coming loose. It’s solid. Not as wide and spacious as an AS, but very liveable. Ask questions, lots of experts (and opinions) here…. Mike1 point

The windows in my 2018 don't have the hole at the top either. I believe by this time, instead of just one "universal" window assembly, Hehr decided to make L/R specific assemblies with (2) appropriately punched weep holes. An ignored aspect however was the upside down screen on the curbside assembly, with plastic glide strip at the top and retention springs on the bottom. Not a huge issue to correct however. Significant quality improvements to the Hehr 5600 windows were incorporated sometime mid 2019 and probably found their way into Oliver's 2020 MY production. One easy to spot change is the elimination of the exterior visible pop rivets that retain the glass divider strip. Other notables are closer and more consistent tolerances and correct orientation of the obscure glass pane in the bath window units. I don't know if the upside down screen was corrected but maybe someone with a 2020 or later model can check this. Hehr makes weep hole covers (p/n H109-916) but rather than plugging the holes, they provide an "awning" to help divert rainwater from entering. Unfortunately they only come in black and are relatively expensive but I'd think something like this would also benefit the bottom holes.1 point

If that Ford is a F-150 3.5 Eco-Boost with tow package it will pull anything you can get into the truck and trailer. If your a minimalist camper under most conditions you will never overload your Ford, or get close to it, just Install the Anderson and hit the road, you will never know the trailer is back there most of the time. On a rig like to have I would not even spend the time putting the pencil to it, many on this forum are pulling will a Ford with your setup and have no problems. trainman1 point

I'm still going to pass on electric vehicles for now, even the hybrids are still out for me. I'm sure the day will come that it will be the only thing you can buy, but at age 76 I'm sticking with the fire breathing gas engines. trainman1 point

Erika E - I assume that you are asking about weep holes that are actually at the top of the windows (these windows could be installed so that they opened in either direction depending on which side was down and thus the top weep holes needed to be plugged). I think that a simple call to the Oliver Service department will solve your problem. Bill1 point

I use quick disconnects on everything, all water hookups as well as my cable TV connections, I just purchased a Camco brass set on Amazon, 6 pairs and it did everything on the trailer plus and extras for future use. All my LP gas connections are also quick disconnect, grill, firepit, etc., which is pretty much the standard for LP gas connections. trainman1 point

RE propane: We have the 30 lb tanks. We have had a tank last as long as 55 days of boondocking. This would include heating water, running the refrigerator, and some cool evenings and mornings of light furnace use. Trapped in a Walmart parking lot in Pampa, TX during an ice storm, we spent 3 nights and 4 days in sub freezing temperatures and winds up to 40 mph of snow, sleet and rain. We used maybe half a bottle of propane. My opinion is the only time you have too much fuel is when you’re on fire.1 point

We got a Camco 30a surge protector from Amazon. It works well, when you plug it in it doesn’t pass power for about 45 seconds until after it has checked to make sure everything is okay. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it is yellow and very noticeable. Progressive Industries makes a good one too and they are black, a little less noticeable when hanging from the power pole. Either is good. We’ve used ours a lot over the last 5 years and it has performed well. Mike1 point

I'm really fond of that area, too. People in Banner Elk have all been great. Two of our best friends lived there for a long time, out by Hound's ear, but have moved back to Florida. We've rented cabins on Seven Devils during ski season. The only place we've ever camped nearby was Plumtree, and we'd like to try some other places.1 point

I replaced my four old AGM’s with two BattleBorns in January. We just returned from our second long trip with them and I’m pretty happy with their performance. Even running the furnace at night, using lights, water pump, charging our devices, etc we never got below 80% by morning. Our solar generally had them back up near 100% by noon. I think you’ll be happy with yours. Mike1 point
