  1. Thanks to everyone who contributed to my newbie battery problems, charging is complete, chief technology guru, aka my wife, got battery app working, she had to call corporate help desk on the victron app, someone did not set it or changed the default code, ńot a biggie but she works so cheap i don’t ask when she will get it done…..been married 40 years took me first 20 to learn many things.

  2. Would love to have been one of the luck owners to benefit from the 3500 pound axle shortage and got the super duty 5200 pounders. I believe I remember that they can be upgraded to disk brakes which is an option that OTT really should consider for new trailers. Thanks for the low down Bill! GJ

  3. John, Here's how I understand it: D52 is 5200 pound axle and D35 is 3500 pound axle. The D52 has larger brakes and larger spindle that requires larger bearings and probably other different parts. Believe when an axle label says "D52 capacity: 3500 pounds" meaning the axle assembly came with a 5200 pound axle with 3500 pound springs, 4 leaf, the assembly is rated at 3500 pounds. Our LE2 came with axle labels "D52 capacity: 5200 pounds" meaning the axle assembly came with a 5200 pound axle with 5200 pound, possibly higher rated capacity springs, 5 leaf, the assembly is rated at 5200 pounds. Believe Mountainman198 posted about this in another thread, too.

  5. Hello everyone. It's time to introduce myself after lurking here in the forum for a few months. I purchased my 2022 LEII (Hull #1056) from Paul and Tina at the end of January. While yet to begin my adventures (as winter has yet to depart the mid-Atlantic), I've spent the past few months learning about the Oliver and it's systems. The four season functionality, quality construction and top notch customer service made my choice easy. The bonus is the informed, pleasant and supportive user community that I've found here on the forum! I look forward to getting to know you all better through the forum and at future rallies. Warm regards

  6. Yep, they ran out of 3500 pounds axles when building our LE2 is my understanding, so they installed 5200 pound axle assemblies with 5 leaf springs. Steve installed disc brakes on his LE2 5200lb axles and Pete installed disc brakes on his LE1. The larger drum brakes on the D52 5200 pound axles are very effective and durable. When I need to rebuild the axle assemblies, disc brakes would be nice.

  7. I wish I needed new axles. So I could dream about getting 5200 axles with disk brakes and springs of my choice (written so as not to kick the sleeping Spring Bear topic). Bullet Proof! But then I would need to ask Crazy Horse to rob a bank to pay for it.......... GJ

  8. The purchase of my LEII came earlier than I expected as I’d originally intended to get a new hull. I will not make it to the Oliver Rally this year due to other commitments. The 2026 rally will be a priority as I approach full retirement. I will be looking for great advice and recommendations from other owners prior to hitting the road.

  9. Well not completely! Clamp-on amp meters are great tools for RV owners, and many double as multimeters too. But it’s important know the differences and limitations to make an informed choice of which meter will meet your expectations. Clamp-ons are great for measuring higher currents, such as battery chargers and power feeds. But they're not great for measuring low currents, such as branch circuits and parasite loads. They don’t have the resolution needed for lower amps, and they can be finicky if not positioned just right. If you plan on measuring small currents, then get a basic Multimeter with a shunt type ammeter. They measure "in-line" with the current, typically up to 10 amps (+/- 1 milli amp.) Some clamp-on meters with built in multimeters, such as the Klein CL390, also include a shunt type amp meter. But check the specs because a lot of these are in microamps, which is too low for an RV’rs needs. Amperage is subjective of many factors, so if you're really serious, consider a $$$ data logging meter to see whats going on over time. The Victron smart shunt also has data logging (+/- 10 milli amps.) You can use it to measure the current of various loads by isolating the circuits and inputs. Having said all that, I recommend getting both a Clamp-on ammeter and separate Multimeter to cover all your amp measurement needs. You will probably be reaching for the multimeter most of the time. If you want some Oliver real life examples of ammeter accuracy, and how to measure parasite loads, see my post in the topic “Battery depletion rate 3% or more per day... with EVERYTHING off?” My post is way down on the third page with photos. Hope that helps, Geoff

  11. Does anyone know where to find an event calendar for the 2025 rally? Nancy my Wife and I plan on attending the rally in April and are wondering if anyone would like to join us for a bird walk one or two of the mornings. We attended the rally in Maine back in 2023 and led a couple of beginner bird walks and they were a big hit. We were asked to do it again this year but we are planing to attend the 2025 rally this year. If anyone is interested let me know and maybe we can have the walks listed on the schedule of events, if there is one. The other option is to contact us directly and we can pencil something in. The birds should be in peak spring migration so the birding should be great. God willing we plan to arrive on April 29th and stay through the 2nd of May on site #F56. However there is one glitch. I was summoned to Grand Jury duty for 3 days a week for 3 months starting April 7th. I was told because I am self employed, I can get out of it for financial hardship but I need to appear in court on April 7th and tell it to the judge as they say. Wish me luck Bill

  12. looks like mid 2016 LE2 was a changeover time for the hanger width - mine was born in July 2016 and is 50.5" - so you need to measure to make sure oliver was able to upgrade my LE2 hull #157 to all new running gear (D52s etc) side note - my original truma was also compliant with the recall / had all the tabs bent over!

  14. We just picked up our new Oliver Elite ll on Saturday Feb. 8, 2025 at Evans & Son RV in Petersburg, IN. Rained most of the way home to Tennessee, but it towed like a dream. Such a difference from our previous RV.

  17. Yep - The Rally schedule historically has not been set/released until much later in the proceedings. However, with regards to past years - there is nothing happening at the Rally until after registration which doesn't start happening until after noon (or so) on Wednesday (April 30). On Thursday and Friday (May 1 & 2) there are usually morning seminars up in the main ballroom of the Lodge. It is possible that Saturday morning MIGHT be open and Sunday morning usually sees many owners head for home. Most afternoons and evenings are left open for visiting and vendor or owner presentations (usually in the vendor area and/or at the "beach pavilion"). Bill

  18. Exactly! Having lived in 5 different states in many cities and counties, I would say that a locale that does not have a recycling program today is a rare case. I keep used 5-gal containers in my garage for oils and antifreeze. These must be recycled separately, but it's safe to say that antifreeze is antifreeze wrt recycling. Brake fluid, spent fuels, oil based paints, solvents, etc. are hazardous waste. Our city schedules one month a year and they actually with application will come to our homes to pick up these wastes. The will be by our home this March! (see link) I go to drop off oil and antifreeze every couple of months. Sometimes I bring the Oliver with me while doing so to check the tow weight! 🤣 https://prescott-az.gov/trash-and-recycling/residential-collection/

  26. I have 3 clamping multimeters and all 3 measure AC and DC amperage. One of the better ones I have is a Klein Tools CL390 which is around $100. Edit-Just took a quick look on Amazon and couldn't find a clamping meter that didn't do both AC and DC amperage. Might want to check your meter's documentation to verify that it doesn't actually measure DC amps.

  28. YES, it important to have a pressure regulator. Not using one could result in you blowing your water lines apart at connections. A very costly proposition, not to mention a quick end to a trip. The water pressure isn't the same at each campground. Not using one is "high risk, low reward".

  29. We've experienced the same results with the Calgon/PineSol practice. We keep a container of the solution under the bathroom sink storage and add it on each dump - about 1.5 - 2cups. After adjusting the blade valve cables and using the C/PS solution we've yet to have leakage in the dump hose.... It appears that the cables operate a bit smoother especially when almost in the fully closed position....

  30. Like @mossemi has noted above, the freshwater inlet has fewer "restrictions" than the City Water side (I believe is true in all OTT models) for this, and other boondocking reasons, we've adopted the practice of only using water from our FW tank -- regardless if staying at an established CG with city water hose bibs. As @Geronimo John has noted in other similar threads, static and dynamic pressures are NOT the same animals even at the same pressure! One can really "hammer" the OTT system with a dynamic pressure at 40psi ultimately causing leaks or other damage, IMO. Always SLOWLY crack open the city water valve when using either the FW fill or CW side of the OTT water inlet system, this practice will "soften" the blow of dynamic water pressure on your plumbing system. FYI, we haul around a "Travel Berkey" water filter system (it lives under the forward dinette seat) and never yet had a problem consuming filtered fresh water from our tank. We keep the FW Tank sanitized regularly throughout our travels as a standard practice. Monitoring the CG water pressure going into the City Water inlet with our in-line pressure gauge is another SOP for us which indicates when we need to "throttle-back" the flow via the hose bib valve due to high CG water pressure. Casablanca has 40psi pressure regulators, but peace of mind is achieved by monitoring the in-line pressure gauge. For our style of OTT camping, we only connect to the City Water inlet when sanitizing the plumbing system.... my $0.02. Safe travels, ALL!

  31. Older hulls are equal to the newer and every used dollar saved allows you to add mods that are important and special to you. Check the Modifications forum. Who needs more water? We do! 🤣 Olivers have a boondocking port where the onboard water pump will fill the FWT from an external source. Many members have 1-2 small 5-gal tanks for this reason. Not good enough for boondocking in Arizona (or Colorado)! We always have an extra 35 gallons, don't leave home without it! https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/horizontal-leg-tank-35-gal
