  1. Wondering why you're thinking Xantrex now vs. you had an earlier interest in Victron. Why? Oliver owners that have the 3KW Xantrex have them because OTT installs them exclusively. I know of 5 Oliver owners on the forum who have replaced the 2KW Xantrex inverter with the 3KVA Victron Multiplus II. I have never read of any Oliver owners who have upgraded from the 2KW to 3KW Xantrex. I'm not sure of all the reasons why, but Victron has a Power Assist option that allows those on less powerful generators or mooch-docking power less than 15A to still run A/C by combing some battery amperage. So, there are a lot of Oliver owners and forum members that can help you with configuration of the 3KW Xantrex, but I do not know of any with actual Xantrex installation experience. I'm glad that I went with Victron since we now have 6 Victron devices! 🤣 This includes Victron 30A MPPT solar chargers, an Orion 50A DC-DC chargers, SmartShunt and more devices all integrated on one network, viewable on the Victron Connect app. Now to answer your question: When moving up to any 3KW inverter the KISEA 20 Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) will NOT be needed. This ATS is used as a work-around allowing the 2KW inverter to add a separate 20A circuit to run Air Conditioning (A/C). The 3KW inverters have a built-in 30A ATS that can run your entire 120VAC power panel so that the inverter supplies AC power to all 120V breakers including A/C. When you remove the old Xantrex, you will also remove the attached 15A Xantrex external ATS and a funky residential junction box, with a maze of wires and wire nuts inside. OTT rigs this instead of the preferred route of installing a split-bus AC panel, allowing them to install the same panel in Olivers with or without an inverter.

  3. Great news. A rep for Girard Awnings will be at our rally. This was confirmed by email to me. Kelsey Sacha, Lippert Rally Coordinator.Support, spoke with her Team and said a Girard Rep would attend to do Q&A.

  4. Due to popular demand, I will again be collecting and distributing a list of attendees and their campsite location. I did this the first year we attended just so that I could put faces to names from the forum and Facebook groups. But it turned out that others liked the idea, too, so I brought copies to the event. So here we go again. If you are interested in participating, please comment below with: Site Number, Forum Name (if applicable), First Name(s), State, Trailer "Name", and Hull Number Example: G23, Steve Morris, Steve and Deb, Ohio, "Curiosity", 1360 The final list of attendees and sites will be posted the weekend before the event, and I'll bring copies with us if needed. NOTE: This list is in no way authorized, encouraged, or associated with Oliver Travel Trailers. This is only for the convenience of attendees. 5. We received our Mini a few days ago and started service on Friday. It's amazing that a DeWalt 20V battery is all you need to power up to use Starlink with its internal Wi-Fi. I have 5 DeWalt batteries 2-6AH, a Dewalt charger mounted in the Oliver Attic and we always bring 3-4 batteries and several DeWalt cordless tools with us. (They make a Milwaukee 18V battery connector too.) Just moved this out on our deck pointing north and it connected quickly. Created our $50 account and quickly configured the Starlink Wi-Fi. Ran a few Ookla speed tests at home and got 120-130 Mbps down and 15-20 up, certainly acceptable! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DM1T6VX2?ref=fed_asin_title&th=1 Yesterday we drove to the far NW corner of the Prescott NF west of Walnut Creek. There was no cell service the last 20 miles of dirt road. Again, it connected quickly and is so easy to align with the Alignment feature. I wasn't too fond of the Obstructions feature since with the bright sun it's hard to see your phone screen, but obstructions are obvious. For now it's just sitting on the truck toolbox, but if you look closely at the cables going up to the roof, you can see I've already wired the truck, but I still have work to do on the rooftop mount. I will start a build thread on all that when finished. The Mini does take some juice. I started with a 4AH battery which it consumed in a couple of hours. Then I connected my big HD 20/60V 6AH battery and it lasted for over 5 hours streaming TV, battery dead when I got back out in the morning. With a bit of camping usage, 2 phones, my laptop and TV, I figure we will use 10 GB per 24 hour day out on the road. So the $50 package will be fine when we camp for a week or a couple of 3-day weekends and not bad when over at $1/GB. For the month-long trips the unlimited package would be the way. Out here with minimal radio waves (only a couple of strong FM stations come in) and no electrical interference, I'm getting 140 Mbps down and 22 up on a bright sunny day in the forest. Very nice!

  6. I purchased the same hitch when I switched to a 2500. In addition to looking good it also allows you to reverse the balls under the truck when not in use to save your shins.

  7. Your link was not working for me but I did find the Amazon listing for these WattCycle batteries. I had seen them before, nor the Will Prowse video. Now I get why sometimes you wrote 280AH and other times 300AH! https://www.amazon.com/WattCycle-280Ah-LiFePO4-Lithium-Battery/dp/B0DS48GH5F/?th=1 The 2-pack is a good savings over buying two individually. The 3-pack is the same price as buying 3 singles. If you go for 3, buy a 2-pack and an extra single! Who knows about the effect of tariffs, but all LiFePO4 components even in the "assembled" in USA batteries come from China, and China has had steep tariffs since the first Trump Admin (was 25% now adding another 10%? something like this). China manipulates their currency anyway to be competitive in pricing. These batteries are 15.1" long, 7.6" wide, so two of these will not fit in the 14x21" battery tray. For this reason and reputation many of us have gone with the 300AH Epoch that are 13.6" long which fits in the tray. Your choice is half the cost though. Without the tray, my battery bay floor is 18x24" but certainly measure yours as it could be different! Without the tray you could fit three, two put in first length-wise and the third sideways. Running the cables to 3 will not be fun without the tray and you will need to make custom length cables. You'd have to wire and tighten up the bolts on the first two, push them in and then mount and wire the third. You will also have to figure out a way to strap them down OR cut spacers to fit around and snug them like I did with wood studs. Others prefer using plastic so to have no wood in the Oliver except for the kitchen drawers! The ONLY install we've seen installing batteries without the tray is Mike's @rideadeuce where he installed 2 HUGE 460AH special Epochs which filled every available square inch in the bay, where they have no possible room to move. I forget if he added anything extra to secure them, but you would have to with 3 batteries not filling the space. Maybe you could find a metal or plastic tray just less than the 18x24" space to help. At least line the shelf bottom with rubber as Mike did. Hope this helps and do have fun!

  8. @Dennis and Melissa Just a thought --- you have 7 nights planned at Dead Horse SP to visit Canyonlands and Arches. Both are amazing and Dead Horse is the best reserve campground for visiting Canyonlands and not too far from Arches. It's a good plan but one suggestion I might make is to use the app Campflare and see if a cancelation might pop up for Devil's Garden Campground inside Arches NP. Devil's Garden may be the most difficult to get campground in all of the national parks. It books up within seconds of the 6 month booking window. It does not have hookups, however. I put a notification request in Campflare last fall and scored a cancelation with a few weeks notice -- they do happen. If you were to score a site at Devil's Garden, it puts you deep inside the park in one of the most spectacular areas of scenery with a couple of the best hikes starting right from the campground. You wake up with an unbelievable sunrise right there. The photos attached are of the campground. The arch photo at sunrise is 100 yards from the campground (you can see RVs in the distance on left side of the photo). Dead Horse SP is very nice and centrally located but the campground is kinda out in the middle of sagebrush and you have to drive to get to hikes and views. Already being inside the park camping at Devils Garden means your're already there -- avoiding the lines at park entry and you are already there for the most awesome time in the park which is sunset/early mornings and late evening/sunset. Regardless, my biggest suggestion would be to plan on being in both parks early and late. The light is amazing and makes for unforgettable experiences. If you stay the whole time at Dead Horse SP, you will still have an amazing time!

  9. On cold, rainy nights we keep the windows closed. For ventilation I open the maxxfan and the bath vent. With the maxxfan on a low setting pulling air out there is fresh air coming in through the bath vent. You might get a damp bathroom floor if it rains hard or is real windy, but it wipes up easily. Agree with your parks assessment. Palo Duro is one of our favorites. Be sure to drive up to Jerome while you’re at Dead Horse Ranch, and Sedona of course. You will really be blown away with the southern Utah parks! Mike

  10. I had the same issue with one of my breakers, specifically a circuit breakers with manual reset. Replaced the faulty stock Chinese made breaker for this one, problem solved. The last pic was posted by another owner and shows the breaker I replaced, labeled 12V BREAKER in his illustration.

  11. John, I just noticed as of March 31st, I have been on the Oliver Forum for 1 full year. the great support from other Owners, like you and many more, gave me the comfort to buy Hull 292. I have enjoyed all of your great info you have provided in the past and yes, after the April Rally, we have an appointment at the Mothership. Want to/Hope to have everything installed before then. Have a call into a Local Xantrex repair/installer for a quote. I took the plunge and ordered 2 280 Ah Lithiums. Based on the Tariff adventure and the fact that I took out the Battery Tray and have the room, I’m thinking of ordering a 3rd, before the price goes up 50%. Gary

  12. I certainly believe that to be true for converter/chargers connected to shore power (reason why ours is only plugged in at home during August for A/C). When parked ours stays in the 90s SOC most of the time from solar charger only. Solar is naturally OFF all night long! 🤣 So the batteries should stay healthy.

  13. Excellent JT! Great build shown in your photos. It's cool that you started this thread just 4 weeks ago, and today you have the setup you wanted working well! 😂 Thank you for getting me started on ours. We received our Mini recently and activated our account today. Easy setup and more to come soon...

  14. Hey Dave, Great choice on TVs, I really like the 10 speed and of course the engine brake especially on roads like the Teton Pass with 10% grade. Ford nailed it with the engine brake and 10 speed transmission. My particular Super Duty has the Tremor factory lift which if I recall is approx 1.5-2” depending on your tire size. I also run Nitto Ridge Grapplers. My recommendation is that you order the 8” drop and you should be fine since the standard SD does not have the factory lift. I do have another Aluma trailer that I use for various utilities. So the 10” drop with my trucks lift serves me well. I highly recommend this to keep things quiet when towing. - https://www.hitchclamp.com/pages/videos It works great. Are you gong to be at the Rally? If so let’s get together and talk Super Duties! 👍🏻 If you have any other questions shoot me a PM, glad to help. -David

  15. Hey Gary, when you reply to a 4-year-old post, chances are low to get a response. Looking at MJ’s profile, his last time logged into the forum was 3 years ago. He likely sold their Oliver back then. JD

  16. Installed and tested. Works as intended. I tapped the wires going to the 12V receptacle and installed a cutoff switch which you can see in the photo. I’m not sure if the POE injector consumes power all the time or not, but installing that LED switch guarantees it and the router are off when I’m not using it. The injector has a chassis ground terminal, and I ran a wire back to the common bus. (The instructions said this would help reduce signal interference.) I did have to do ethernet cable surgery on the end going into the waterproof connector at the splitter going into the dish. After many bad words and prayers for forgiveness, I finally got the tiny wires in the right order and pushed through an RJ45 shielded connector. I probably could have got by using a cable intended for indoor use, but I purchased an outdoor rated cable made to the same Starlink standard. The protective boot over the connector was too big to fit inside the waterproof connector, so I had to cut off the end and put on a plain shielded connector.

  17. Ty J: Is this a drain tube? If so it would be simple to penetrate the hull on both sides and pipe them down via the existing Dometic drain tube. GJ

  18. Gary, we’re big fans of Texas State Parks. Parks that we’re familiar with around here (Boerne, just north of San Antonio)…. there’s Guadalupe River State Park and Blanco State Park. Guadalupe River State Park has a nice area in the river to swim or wade. Blanco State Park is small but nice. Further north is Inks Lake State Park, another nice (and popular) camping spot. We’ve heard good things about Perdernales Falls State Park, but haven’t been there. One of our favorites is Mother Neff State Park between Waco and Temple, not exactly Hill Country but worth a visit. We camp there often. Another park we like is Lost Maples State Park an hour or so west of here. There are a number of nice commercial RV parks in and around Fredericksburg, we’ve stayed at one (Peach Country RV Park in Stonewall) and drive by the others pretty often if you are interested. The state parks fill up fast, recommend reservations! Mike

  19. PJ, what ever choice you make on the batteries, the right choice is an Oliver. It’s not just the Trailer, which is fantastic, it’s great fellow Ollie Owner, like Mossey who will take the time to answer your questions, and you will have lots of questions, after you get your Oliver. Hope to see you at one of the Rally’s. Lake Guntersville Rally is at the end of April. You would learn a lot and meet some great folks.

  20. Gary, I did purchase this and later went without it, returned it to Amazon. First, when I got my hands on it, the breaker did not appear to be quality level for 4/0 battery cables. Then when I removed our battery cables, I found that OTT had an ANL fuse holder and 250A fuse well hidden up above inside the pantry wall (see pic). If yours has this, it's all you need. To find it, follow your positive/red 4/0 cable out of the battery bay and it should be right there on the interior side. Fuses are also better protection, since they protect against an overload in both directions. Breakers are directional with source and load sides. But then fuses do not include ON/OFF switches. I went without a cut-off switch and twice since when upgrading other electrical components, I merely remove the battery ground with a 1/2" wrench. If you want a cut-off switch I would do what @tallmandan did in his post. If fact your upgrade could follow his good example:

  21. Unfortunately, Mechman does not offer an alternator for your Nissan. If you are having issue with your stock alternator, a direct replacement may be all needed. However, in my situation where a 40A DC-DC charger was installed and my stock alternator was aged, the high output replacement was a great solution for my inherent battery charging system problems. If you plan or already installed a DC-DC charger, then definitely consider an upgrade. If you cannot find an aftermarket high output alternator for your specific vehicle, then check if Nissan offers an alternator with a higher amp rating. In my application, the 320A alternator required a ‘Big 3’ cable upgrade, which would even benefit a stock alternator.

  22. I believe I will purchase the $50 plan for local trips, a week or less. Understand we have an unlimited T-Mobile Business data plan 4-5G cell with Pepwave router and Parsec Husky antenna that works well by itself on most days, not at the bottom of a canyon! 🤣 We watch news channels and YouTube videos. We're not the download the 2-hr 4K high-rez movie types. Twice a year we go on trips 3-4 weeks. This May-June we're going for 5-6 weeks. Then the unlimited plan makes the best sense for sure. Ordered our Mini from The Depot yesterday and it will be here tomorrow. Ordered the cabling I need coming by Friday. I will go with the company @Patriot suggested - TYA, the Striker Mount with polycarbonate shield, magnet mounts, carry handle and the front rock/bug deflector, since mainly we will have our mounted top of tow vehicle. I have my shopping cart full. They sent me a reminder but I'm waiting a few days in hope they send me a promo code. This cart adds up to a bit of $$$! They say Starlink works up to 100 MPH on the road (cool, but we'll keep it under 70). It's going to be fun!

  25. Maybe a case of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Just in case it would brick the inverter. Oh! I should install the firmware upgrades over and over until I *do* brick it. Then I'll have an excuse to swap in the Victron unit. 😉

  26. Our 3 x BB's are a perfect AH storage capacity for our style of camping/boondocking, FYI. But when it comes to AH's, "MO is BETTA", IMO. Frankly, I don't know what I'd do with another 300AHs! Keep the AC running for the Knuckleheads when we're away, I suppose! HA!
