  1. http://www.liveworkdream.com/2018/07/23/walmart-free-camping-spot/ Probably about time. The whole process was so abused. Far too many RVs vs shoppers. And why? At least three beautiful yt parks within fifty miles... Last few times, we were appalled at the number of RVs, obviously bmany staying far more than the one free night... Sherry

  2. UPPER SUNSHINE RESERVOIR. The area around Cody is insanely busy in summer, and finding a place to stay that doesn't require a reservation and $50 per night is very hard, especially if you do not have a fixed arrival date. It is one of the main "feeder towns" that tourists go through on the way to Yellowstone and Tetons. We wanted to revisit the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, and avoid the Parks, but we could not find a place to camp. A little research turned up this gem.... About 30 miles south lies Meeteetse WY, and due west are a couple of irrigation reservoirs; while both offer camping and water access, the jewel is the Upper Sunshine Reservoir, the western-most one. It takes about half an hour to drive there from the town, along a stunning valley with views of the jagged glaciated mountains south of Yellowstone. Most of the access road is high speed WY highway. The last 4 miles are well maintained gravel and dirt (possibly very slick when wet, definitely dusty when not). Location map: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Upper+Sunshine+Reservoir/@43.968422,-109.1090158,11z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x534c5725b1e82ec9:0x278afb15aaf5ba06!8m2!3d44.0490298!4d-109.0627262 Run by the Wyoming Department of Fish and Wildlife, it is a well maintained area with lots of dispersed camping, a boat ramp, pit toilet and lots of fish. It is definitely brown bear country, and you must take appropriate food precautions, but all we saw were antelope and a little Jack Russell terrier that repeatedly weeweed on Mouse's wheel. It is very popular on weekends. Midweek, it is not crowded. Most of the day-fishermen pack up and leave by 400 pm. We elected to camp on the shoulder near the (non-busy) boat ramp because we were worried about thunderstorms. Some of the dispersed spots would be very greasy after a heavy rain and we needed to be gone by 700 AM to get to the Buffalo Bill museum by 800 am when it opened. Even in summer there were a lot of birds including some American Avocet, which has a cool "Doppler Shift" call and curved up bill, and we had never encountered any of those before. The sky was threatening and overcast, and we had a brief downpour at midnight, so we could not do any star gazing, but it should be a great location for that in better weather. Timelapse sunset: https://youtu.be/N8ejZg49EWQ Highly, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you are in the Cody area! Five stars, well maintained, isolated, free. Meeteetse is a pleasant, prosperous little community with a Conoco and a chocolatier, so it is a good spot to refuel the truck and the wife before heading to the Cody Mess. The highlight of the Cody Firearm Museum for me was: The Colt Navy 1861 revolver, serial number 1: [attachment file=IMG_6752.jpg] ...and the Longmire tv show display. Here is Walt's badge: ...and the entire display with his Winchester and 1911, and Vic's Glock and badge; I need to rewatch the series now..... John Davies Spokane WA

  3. Has anyone received replacement window shades as mentioned in this TSB? http://olivertraveltrailers.com/topic/tsb-white-window-shades-night-shade-fabric/ If so, did they send you all of the blinds or just enough to replace your defective shades. The reason I ask is that the response I got from the company sounded like they will be sending all 4.

  4. Jason has provided us with the needed measurements and updated the TSB for anybody else that needs to replace their blinds. All is good! Kathy

  6. I was wondering if anyone has a way to remotely monitor the temp inside your Oliver? Just looking for a piece of mind when I leave my dog in the trailer and the temp is very hot outside. Never know if the electricity goes out even on a sunny day. If I could look at some app that would indicate everything is fine then I'll feel better.

  7. Hello folks, I have 2 dogs so I also grappled with this concern. I have been using the Tempstick (described in the list provided by ScubaRx and reviewed by Long, long Honeymoon on YouTube). Tempstick does indeed need a wifi hotspot. It can be set to alert me as the temp reaches a setting of my choice AND I can monitor in 'real time' from my phone whenever I wish. The setup was very easy. The customer service was excellent when I had questions before and after purchase. I try to be VERY careful to not leave the app 'open' on my phone as it will continuously send/receive and use significant amounts of data! (an oops that goes cha ching!) Realistically, there will be areas where there is a weak or no signal. In that event I plan to simply forego leaving my dogs unattended. The initial cost for the Tempstick, the cost of the hotspot and the added $10/mo for said hotspot has been well worth it for me. Hope this helps! Happy Trails!

  8. With our dog inside we always put our Maxx fan in the auto position in case of a power failure or A/C failure. The fan runs off the batteries and when in auto will come on at 78 degrees (factory preset) or whatever temperature you have it set at. In case of a power failure the fan will start at the preset temp and come on. We leave the bath fan vent open so it can suck some air in through it if needed.

  9. Thank you Kathy, I will look into your link. Perfect example of needing a monitor is during my last camping trip my A/C went down. Luckily it happened after we got back from a bike ride. Indoor temp was 97 and having a piece of mind that all is well for my dog is worth the price I pay for a good monitoring system.

  10. I’ve found this product and just beginning to research it. https://rvpetsafety.com ——————————- This looked like the perfect solution for us....at first. After reading the subscription policy on this unit It appears that it may end up quite expensive. The monthly subscription that can be turned on/off can only be used a few times per year and you are charged everytime you turn off & on, so the annual service may be the only way to go. I also located a discouraging U-Tube video about it. It sounded like the company has had a tendency to change pricing/charges and is hard to communicate with. They may have worked out all of the issues by now but the subscription details bother me so I think I will try looking elsewhere. Link to video: https://youtu.be/sW1MhTDn1S4 I just found the Marcell PRO system - https://www.marcellpro.com. I haven’t read the fine details or looked for reviews yet ....so time will tell. Kathy

  11. When you slow down and smell the roses it is amazing what you see hiding just beyond the roses. Also having your morning coffee while backed up to a river or mountain vista, saying " I wonder what day it is?", and don't really care...

  12. The "grill" (intake) on the bottom of the air distribution panel on the air conditioner will pop out. There is a foam filter on the back side. Take it out and wash with water.

  13. Hey kids, I just ordered an LE 2 for delivery in mid October. Sold my leak-ridden Airstream to a welder who will either make a hunt camp or a meth lab out of it. Happiest day of my life (recently) was when that piece of junk rolled out of the driveway. I was wondering, since I want to install a TPMS, if the Olivers come with metal valve stems? Mingy

  14. HI Tom and Linda, actually our delivery date is the 19th as i'm told they don't do two deliveries in a day. It is very exciting for us as well. We closed on our house last week and have moved the remainder of our stuff into my moms house. The grand adventure begins. Our first excursion will be the mini Oliver rally in Jacksonville in October. After that we will be back to Atlanta to regroup and then head west for the winter. Right now we are in the process of getting things like a telescoping ladder and generator. We hope to do a lot of boondocking mixed in with some Thousand Trails stays as well. At least that is the plan at this point. We have camped all over the U.S. in the past 30 years using our Coleman popup and Hi-Lo travel trailer but we were always in vacation mode. Forcing ourselves to slow down will probably be the hardest adjustment of full timing. Good Luck, Ken and Judy

  15. There are lots of systems out there that will do what you describe. BUT, you will need a wi-fi hotspot (which requires a separate cellular phone line and will incur a monthly fee) inside your trailer and a good cell phone signal wherever you're parked. Then you can use any of these systems.

  16. First of all, it is 8 feet wide and the Ollies are 7 feet wide, so..... this one won't work. A narrower one might possibly. Your stuff inside the drawers would get really trashed if you towed in inclement weather or on unpaved roads. The "sturdy steel frame" will rust quickly due to road debris and rock strikes, and it will be a seriously horrible PITA to keep it nice. If you want extra space consider the rear cargo platform that is an unlisted option. It is engineered for your trailer and is made of the same high quality aluminum. Or add a cargo pod of some sort on your tow vehicle's roof. Did that help? John Davies Spokane WA
