  1. Leave the furnace on low and open some of the hatches. Make sure the fresh tank is full, that much water would take a long time to freeze.

  3. Your leather cushions look fabulous. I know you will love them. We did not get any cushions on delivery of Hull #050 in early 2014. Our plan was to have some leather ones custom made locally in Tupelo. We chose a beautiful Water Buffalo hide from their selections and had the front panels of the back rests embroidered "The Outlaw Oliver". Here's Dustin cleaning up after a trip to the Mother-Ship back in 2015... Here's Reacher checking his e-mails. He's been sitting on and sleeping on those cushions for 8 years now and they are none the less for wear.
  4. I would like to "reserve" a spot as this sounds like a great trip. Distance and lack of cell service is never a problem for us. Put our name down as "coming".

  6. We have had our sewer hose permanently connected for over 14 years on two different Oliver's with no problems. I can't see any reason to do it any other way. It's way too hard to get down and hook up every time for me.
  7. IF I were to decide to paint any part of our Oliver, I would do it with Plasti Dip. It comes in a boat load of colors and is completely reversible. I've used it many times on various parts of our vehicles with complete satisfaction. Get on You Tube and spend some time watching the tutorial videos. It might be just what you're looking for.
  8. The specs state: Weight capacity: 5,500 lbs Tongue weight capacity: 550 lbs That's a little light for the average Oliver.
  9. As an old airline pilot once told me, “the only time you have too much fuel is when you’re on fire.” 30 pounders for us.

By far, the best and easiest way to fix this problem (many of us have had this through the years) is drill it out, I would start with the easy side locked in place and use the correct size bit (as determined from the opposite side) if that doesn’t fix the problem, go up to the next larger bit until it works, try not to go too much oversize to prevent “slop” in the fitment.
  11. John, I agree with all you’ve said but the world is filled with idiots and apparently there is one among the owner’s because that is exactly the reason that the engineering change was done.
  12. James, I'm not Foy, but I'm sure it will be fine for you to come to this mini Rally and see what's what. There will be plenty of folks to talk to and I'm sure you can find out more than you ever wanted to know about Oliver Travel Trailers. We will be in Hull #050 in site #83. Feel free to come by and 'set a'spell'.
  13. We travel with several Rand McNally atlas'. One of them is marked in highlighter with every road we've traveled over the past 14 years. Sometimes we're surprised to find out we've passed this way before. Another rides in the truck with us. I trust our GPS to get us where we want to go, but I don't always let it decide the route. I also like having the atlas so I can "look way down the road." The GPS has a rather narrow overview unless you zoom way out and then you lose detail.
  14. This will also occur with the regular toilet if you overfill the black tank when flushing. Makes a hell of a mess.
  15. Hang in there. I've been told by the higher ups that a longer, wider Oliver is definitely in the works. I wouldn't hold my breath till it's available, it will be at least a couple more model years.
  16. This looks like a good match for the Elite II, excellent towing and cargo capacity.
  17. If you're satisfied with the towing experiences you've had with a 6000# SOB, then I suspect you'll be OK pulling an Oliver.

  20. I don't nor have I ever owned an Andersen. The only way I can see that the chains could have "tightened" was for the whale tail to have made a 360 degree 'flip' while it was unhooked, thus drawing the chains tighter.
  21. Welcome to the most exclusive club in all of FG Trailerdom. We've had two Oliver's over the past 14 years and are the owners of the first Elite II sold, Hull #050. You are going to have the time of your life.
  22. Frank, I don't have any pictures but Lee Slusher and I swapped out Hull #050's original plastic toilet with a porcelain throne while out in Quartzsite a few years back. It was a simple matter of disconnecting the water supply line, removing a couple of bolts and lifting the toilet out. There was no "seal" as in a wax ring, just a smaller pipe exiting the bottom of the toilet and going well into a slightly larger flange on top of the black tank. Also, there was no filth as I expected. All that said, remember that the gray and black tank vents merge under the vanity and exit out the top of the trailer. If the outside vent exit is somehow blocked, theoretically sewer gases could back up and exit the shower drain. That's close enough to the toilet base to perhaps make the stink source confusing. I once had mud daubers partially close up my vent pipe. I just took the cap off and put a water hose down inside it and flushed them all back down through the drains and into the waste tanks.
  23. Most likely if you order a 2022, it will be delivered in 2023 so you've got plenty of time. Wait times on fiberglass trailer manufacturers range from several months to several years. Escape is currently out about 23 months to delivery from the order day. As far as seeing out of the windows unless seated, you won't have enough room to be walking around. Most of the time you'll be on the bed or at the dinette. If you're concerned about using seat cushions to sleep on, buy the available mattress and keep the rear made up as a bed. Use the front dinette for eating.
  24. That would be an explanation for the extra run of pipe and would be an improvement on what they did before with only one inlet.
