My husband has gotten so skilled with the truck backup camera that I almost never participate in the hitching up process anymore...

Pisgah Inn will now allow non-guests to eat lunch there if you make reservations. We were across the road at Mt. Pisgah campground for 4 nights this week. Best hike we did was the Black Balsam Knob hike (off Forest Service Rd. between mileposts 420 and 421.)

My wife is hesitant to buy, due to cost
Nancy K. replied to John Welte's topic in Introduce Yourself
When we wanted to buy a used Ollie, they were selling for almost full price within a few days of being listed. So we decided that we would buy a new one, enjoy getting to choose all our options, and if trailer camping didn't turn out to be for us we were confident that we would recoup almost all of our investment. We have had our Ollie for 9 months and are truly enjoying it. -
Some questions about the 2022 rally: Are the rally dates definitely May 18-22, 2022? Is it important to make reservations at Lake Guntersville by phone (vs. the website)? If we decided to only stay 2 of the 4 nights, which nights would you suggest in order to be there for most of the group events? Any other words of wisdom from past attendees? Thank you.

So that last graphic is funny to me because the parts of North Carolina that have "Carolina Clay" have red clay. "Carolina Sandhills " maybe...

You do realize that the title of your post has now embedded the song from The Little Mermaid in my brain... My latest handmade gizmo is a fabric holder for grocery bags/trash bags. The opening at the top is larger than the one at the bottom. It hangs from a command hook placed high up on the left wall of the main closet.

A drop down table would not work for me because I use that table constantly when preparing meals, organizing my daily items, etc. If I had a drop down table it would likely stay up 90% of the time.

New Owners from SC Joining the Oliver Family
Nancy K. replied to SC Lakers's topic in Introduce Yourself
Welcome! We are from NC, near Raleigh. Our second journey in our Ollie was to hike at 3 SC state parks, using Table Rock SP as our base camp. Made the mistake of entering from the wrong entrance (the East Gate - we missed the sign about no campers) Very curvy! We survived, but make sure you enter by the West Gate entrance for campers. After unhitching, we were able to take the truck to Caesar's Head SP the next day which has a parking area that would not work with the trailer attached. -
What I like about Harvest Hosts: quiet, generally flat, we usually don't unhitch, the small amount of money that you spend is often for products (farm produce, a museum tour, etc.) that have intrinsic value.

For Harvest Host or boondocking nights I plan to reheat something on the stove, like chili. I also usually freeze ahead several meals (for 2) in small flat rectangular take out containers and then they fit well in the freezer. (chicken pot pie, casseroles, etc.) These I heat up in the microwave. One night we always have hot dogs on skewers with the fire pit.

Is this the Ollie that was at the dealer in Apex? We live pretty close to there in Fuquay-Varina. Congrats!

This past weekend: Buck Hall Recreation Area/Francis Marion National Forest just north of Charleston.

The twin beds work fine for lounging around if you are leaning back against pillows or a rolled up sleeping bag. For me, it's more comfortable because we have the regular cushions and not the thicker mattress option. When I sat on the thicker mattresses when previewing the Oliver I was not as comfortable sitting on the edge because of the angle for my legs, but that's a personal preference. One of us uses a foam topper on top of the cushion, but we are glad we chose to not get the mattresses. We live close to the Southern Mattress factory if we ever change our mind.

Today is the official launch date of the book. Thank you to all who preordered! May it bring you much encouragement. It's available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Walmart, and other sources. For a signed copy, please send me a message.

Has the Escape Room in Statesville opened yet? We wanted to stay there with Harvest Hosts last year but the escapes weren't being run at that time.

Cindy, I'm so happy that it arrived! Hope it will be an encouragement and blessing to you while on the road. Nancy

Thanks, everyone! The book will be available on May 6th, but you can preorder now at https://amzn.to/3t13TXM (available in both paperback and ebook formats.)

Today I received the first author copies of my book. So proud of the two teenagers who created this beautiful cover for me! I specifically asked for a hint of an Ollie heading down the road (without the words on the back).

Time2Go, we got the cushions, thinking that if they didn't work for us we would get Southern Mattress mattresses later (since we live near where they are made.) So far we are fine with the cushions (plus a foam topper for my husband). It seems to me that if you are going to buy SM mattresses, it could be beneficial to go ahead and get all the cushions that Oliver includes in the base price. Even if you throw away or give away the foam (and foam is actually quite expensive in a 4" width), you will have extra of the fabric that can be used if you ever have a rip in one of your dinette seats. Or you could use the fabric to make some bolster cushions. When we made our order, I actually got in touch with the man who does the upholstery for Oliver and requested that any scrap fabric from when my cushions were cut out be saved for me, since I am a seamstress and figured I might someday want that additional matching fabric.

Source for custom size tablecloth for the dinette?
Nancy K. replied to John E Davies's topic in Ollie Modifications
Hi John, my Etsy shop is mostly sewn photography props and vintage items. (www.etsy.com/shop/littlelassies) But I could add a listing for the Ollie tablecloth. I could also take payment via Paypal email. I would estimate the price to be Cost of materials + $12 + Shipping. Please send a private message with info about the colors you like and whether you want solid/patterned/etc. If it's fabric that I already have on hand it will be cheaper since I'm trying to downsize my fabric stash, but I can purchase whatever you want. Thanks! -

Do you want one with elastic on the corners like a fitted sheet? I sew (and have an Etsy shop) and could likely make what you are seeking.
