  1. I would be VERY interested in knowing WHY they made the change. Charlie.
  2. Maybe not so much if the air isn't moving through the pipe? Charlie.
  3. For those who have no idea of what I'm talking about... This one is only $114K Charlie.
  4. We live in the land of "Team Ropers" with a dozen roping arenas nearby. Many of these cowboys have expensive horse trailers with living quarters. Our local TS had a small area dedicated to RVs - now they have expanded to meet the needs of those customers who need more than just horse supplies. Charlie.
  5. It'd be helpful to know his special interests before suggesting places. If he likes a really good port, I'd suggest Ficklins - it's in Madera. Charlie.
  6. Well, we show our Ollie frequently to just about anybody who asks to see it - we're proud of our choice of a well-made TT. That being said, we're not interested in Oliver's new rewards program. I hope it works for them, but it looks like some slick salesman just "sold" them a "turn-key" marketing program. Disappointing. JMO Charlie.
  7. Ours has never come down in more than 12,000 miles. That may be because we eliminated all the cords except power, antenna and HDMI when we recovered them with a white protective wrap. Charlie.
  8. We went with Battleborn years ago. Their internal management systems make them worry free. Best investment we've ever made in our RVs! You couldn't pay me to go back to AGMs. BBs are warrantied for 8 years. Two BBs equals more power output than contained in 4 AGMs. Charlie.
  9. In Arizona, it's state, county and city sales taxes (unless buying from a private party aka previous owner), plus the insurance costs AND your Arizona license plate. The Arizona license plate for our 2020 cost us $825. You can imagine what a new Class A license plate would cost! Charlie.
  10. Yup! And the front tiedowns assisted in the constant flexing of the frame during all those miles in which there was "no problem." Charlie.
  11. GJ, I agree. Just in case the sun doesn't cooperate, the take-along Champion 2500 Dual Inverter is insurance as we cannot be deprived of our creature comforts. I also take a 1000 watt Yeti AND a 300 watt Jackery. After many cloudy days boondocking in Colorado a few years ago in a Sprinter Airstream, we actually NEEDED the 1000 watt Yeti as our Sprinter battery and four BBs ran "too low" to supply the needed 12.6 volts to kick in the solenoid for the onboard generator. We plugged into the 1000 Yeti as if it was shore power and used it to boost to 12.6 so we could start the onboard gen to charge everything back up... Damn, that old Onan was noisy 🤔 Charlie.
  12. After looking around at our needs for our Ollie's 2000 watt inverter and its lithium batteries, we chose the 2500 Champion dual fuel inverter based on price, weight and the fact that I never plan to use gasoline in it. Note that propane wattage output is always less than that of gasoline. It took us only a short time to realize the need for TWO regulators - the normal pressure regulator on the Ollie tanks AND the back-pressure regulator that comes with the unit for attaching it to a remote tank. After some alternations, we were able to use propane regulator included with the Champion to hook up directly to the Ollie. The propane-powered unit is reasonable quiet. It runs our AC or microwave and it will provide our lithium batteries with about 28 amps of charge. While you can buy two and link them together, we have had no need to do that. We do use a null plug, which eliminates the need for grounding the unit. Note that without it, the Ollie's surge protection won't like you! We've had it over a year, but haven't had the need to use it much as our lithium batteries provide for most our needs. But, we take it each boondocking trip and at 39# it is easy to load/unload into the back of the pickup. At less than 18" high, it fits under the hard cover on our pickup. We have made LP hose and electric cord so they reach our Ollie front connections without excess. While our unit is a year old and Champion continues to change/upgrade them, it is similar to this unit, which can be viewed at https://www.amazon.com/Champion-Power-Equipment-200961-Ultralight/dp/B08L45W2V9/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2HQF8CA30OCBA&keywords=champion%2Bdual%2Bfuel%2Binverter%2Bgenerator&qid=1671671377&sprefix=Champion%2Bdual%2Caps%2C158&sr=8-3&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.c3015c4a-46bb-44b9-81a4-dc28e6d374b3&th=1 Last, but not least, I had the need to contact Champion's phone support. It took a while to get through to a real person, but he was very helpful and supplied a part that I had screwed up when altering the back-pressure regulator to fit Ollie's LP connection. He expedited the shipping and there was no charge for the new part. In short, the Champion 2500 Dual Fuel Inverter works for us. Charlie.
  13. Isn't the load rating for within the confines of the truck... and not the cantilevering amount that hangs over the end of it? Charlie
  14. Correct! When temperatures are satisfied too quickly, the compressor ceases removing humidity. Charlie
  15. You'd think Oliver would adopt this or a similar mod to all new units. Charlie.
  16. Well, I've said for at least 30 years that hydrogen would be our future energy source. Charlie.
  17. I wouldn't think so. First, there should be a clear definition of "short cycling." When I refer to short cycling, I'm using the HVAC definition, which basically means supply air does not distribute before returning to the unit - whether that be a furnace, an air conditioner or both. Charlie.
  18. Just an FYI, I've tried twice - once last winter and once this winter - to change the temperature differential control in Ollie 617 from 2 degrees to 1 degree and the circuit in the AC starts clicking and won't stop. That indicates a controller issue. I just gave up and left it at the default setting 🤨. Charlie.
  19. Well, I think Dolly said "you can't put 10 pounds in a 5 pound sack" or something like that 😶 Charlie.
  20. Sounds like a pump calibration problem to me. Wonder when the state last check it (if ever?) Charlie.
  21. We installed four BBs in our 2013 Airstream and we have re-installed three (they weren't hooked up correctly) in our 2020 Ollie. Couldn't be happier! Battleborn was great to work with in both installations. Charlie.
  22. Note X-Chocks and similar items need re-tightened as tires cool - sometimes more than once.
  23. As a past insurance agent during the 1960s and trying to remember my old business law courses in college, the phrase "care, custody and control" come to mind. I personally have always carried an umbrella policy as you never know what may happen next... like repercussions from giving advice on a site like this. Did I say that out loud? Charlie.
