I don't own an OTT yet, but I am hoping to own an Elite on day.  I will name her "The Lolly Olly".  I know you want real owners with real names, but from one who dreams....

Hey Foy, is there a story behind the name Roamy McRoadhouse?  Love it by the way!

I can be a bit eccentric at times and the our name is right there with me.  Last year a proposal by a British government agency to let the Internet suggest a name for a $287 million polar research ship seemed like a good idea to them at the time. Enter one James Hand, a public relations professional and former BBC employee, who submitted "Boaty McBoatface." Well the Internet went nuts and people voted it to the top of the list.  In the end, the suggestion to use the name for the mother ship was not followed and the Minister for Universities and Science, announced that the Boaty McBoatface would be used for the submersibles aboard the now named Sir David Attenborough instead.

That bring us to naming our Oliver.  I mentioned the story of Boaty to my wife and she loved it. For days we riffed on it, with her delivery "Roamy" and me adding Mc Roadhouse.

The graphics were done by my brother and we are adding a Est. 2017 Foy & Mirna icon to the upper right space.  But wait, there's more.  Back from Hohenwald and Roamy parked, we headed to the DMV to paid our taxes, get our title and tag.  The woman who was serving us asked, "Would you like a custom tag?" My wife and I looked at each other and said together "Can we get Roamy?"  The DMV Gods smiled and she said "Why, yes you can!"

Thanks for asking!

That is EPIC!  I have to admit I'm a little upset that they didn't go with Boaty McBoatface.  I'm glad someone of your eccentric nature decided to refrain from being too serious.  YOLO (You Only Live Once) as the kids say these days!  Great name!

Foy & Mirna,

What a wonderful story! I love the name and your graphics! Your brother does nice work.  Does he have a business we could order from online ? When we decide on a name I would love to have it on our trailer ????.

Hello Yvonne,

My brother works for a private company but from time to time I can get him to do work for me, normally for a good bottle of Vodka.  I will ask if he is interested and let you know.  Maybe Oliver designs could be a good side business for him.

FYI they are looking for pics with a visible custom personalized name on the trailer. Here is Mouse, with Zadie and Zack asking to go for a walk.

Can you post some closeups of the rear cargo basket and tell us how it has worked? Does it have running lights or just reflectors? What is the cargo? I think it is an interesting design but it would totally block a rear view camera. Please comment.

Thanks.

John, did you install your camera down low?  I think Oliver's standard one goes up top, so that rack wouldn't be in the way for most owners.

Even if it is mounted at the top of the rear wall the rear platform will block anything on the ground closer than say 6 feet, if loaded with a bulky cargo as in the picture. I can see none of the rear bumper, but my spare and some of the rear wall is visible with mine. I have posted some more pics in my Garmin install thread but I still haven't finished the switch installation. I have to hot wire it when I am traveling... ;)

I don't pick up my Oliver until September. I love the color purple and am getting double purple stripes. Anita told me the "official" color is called violet so I have been leaning toward name the rig Violet. The other name I'm considering is Quill. The reason I bought the Oliver is because I wanted more time in my life to write so decided to retire and move into a trailer to carve out more writing time. Can't wait to share pictures once I pick it up.

If you're taking votes - I'd go with Quill.  Like the sound and the reference and the fact that not everyone knows that a quill was (is?) used for writing.

Oh man, I strongly second Bill's recommendation. "Quill" is unusual and IMHO downright classy. If you Google images for the word you will find some really beautiful ones you could use for a small side graphic. It could easily be combined with the standard "swooshes" too. They alteady look as if they were drawn with a pen. This is very cool!

I love the name "Quill"!!  And I do so agree, claim it now.  Or..."The Violet Quill".  Violet--purple--is the color of royalty.  A royal quill.

Novice Oliver observer here, so excuse me if this is common knowledge.  How did you choose the purple color on your graphics?  I don't see that color on the website but I do see that you can choose other colors as an upgrade.  Did they have a color chart for you to choose from or did you bring them a sample and they matched it.  By the way, I also love purple and can't wait to see your pictures.

Hi Carbon,

Yeah, keeping their website current is an area of improvement for Oliver, in my opinion. In addition to graphic colors, they don't have all the fabric or flooring choices. In fact, the I found out because when I did the factory tour, they had a board with all the colors. So if you have a particular color you want, I'd ask!  It isn't considered an upgrade so there wasn't an additional fee. I'm guessing that either the colors on the website are the most popular or at some point in the past those were the only choices.

No worries on novice questions! I've asked many on this forum and everyone is so helpful. This group helped me with my cabinetry colors...and now with my rig's name. :-)
