It does look lovely. Close to Newland, 30 minutes or so  from Banner Elk. We love Banner Elk.

Love that they will offer dog walking.

We spent a few days at the 2022 Oliver Rally at Lake Guntersville SP. LGSP has an impressive 69,000 acre lake which looked pretty inviting with the hot temperatures. We will consider visiting this park again in cooler times of the year.
It was really fun meeting many of the owners on this forum and just seeing so many “Ollies in the Wild.”

There is nothing like being back in the high much cooler elevations of the NC Smoky Mountain Expressway.

Agree, agree, agree!

Even though this year's Rally allowed for more time to visit with other Ollie owner's - there still wasn't enough time.  For this I apologize to all those in attendance that I simply didn't get a chance to visit with or missed in passing.

A special THANKS to Matt Duncan and his gang for organizing and running this year's event.  Also, to Scott Oliver, Rodney Lomax (and his team) for being soooo gracious and generous in attending and supporting the Rally.

Get your site early for next year because all the "veterans" have already begun to reserve the best sites.

Have the dates for next year been announced already?  Looks like all sites are already booked for the same weekend.

The annual Oliver Rally has always been the week after Mother's Day.  For 2023 those dates will be May 14 for Mother's Day and the Rally will start May 17 (Wednesday) and end May 21 (Sunday).

Bill

p.s.  If you are having trouble booking sites via the internet then I'd suggest a call to the State Park - they sometimes "block" a bunch of sites knowing that we will be using them.

We will have the same truck and trailer combination.  I couldn’t quite make out if you had the Anderson sway hitch or not.  Curious because we’re getting one but had mixed feelings about it.

Please don’t waste your money on an Andersen. No way does any HD duallie need one for a 7000 pound Ollie. Spend the money you save on fuel😬 and on a set of extra wide Rock Tamers, and enjoy the simple ease of hitching it.

I agree with John here.  When I went from a half ton to a 3/4 ton the Andersen came off.  Not really needed for a truck like yours.  Mike

Sorry, no worries, this is why you should always use the Quote feature when you are commenting on somebody else's post, especially if you are referring to one on a previous page. I naturally assumed you were responding to the post directly above yours. I see that I am not the only one who was confused...

Ollie in the wild at Endless Caverns RV resort near New Market, Va. An overnighter here on our way to the great north woods! Water and electric only with a dump station. Not a bad place but could use an infusion of cash to spruce it up a bit. Picnic tables were old and built for kids or midgets. 😅 We did not take the cavern tour as we were just overnighting and needed to travel on.

Ollie in the wild at Promise Land SP near Greentown, Pa. A nice quiet place to overnight with 30 amp only at this site. Perfect for an overnight stay or maybe longer. No AC needed perfect sleeping temps at night! The host kindly gave us a heads up on lots of bear activity. A nice SP and would stay here again passing through.

Ollie in the wild at Interlake CG in Rhinebeck, NY, a nice long level site with FHUP. This area is really in a drought, hopefully the farms will get some rain soon. Overall a nice CG and would recommend it.

A little exploring on the Hunter Mountain Sky Lift in the Great North Woods. We had the Skylift just about to ourselves, a perfect time for the higher elevations of the Catskill Mtns.

Ollie still in the wild -

Love our trusty Weber Q1200. It will grill pretty much any of the meat, breakfast sausage, trout, or yard bird that we enjoy. Last night we enjoyed a little fire side “kickin chicken”. My bride enjoys chillin & grillin. 😊

We’ve been using our Q1000 for over 6 years now.  You can replace the grill on one side with a griddle which provides a solid surface if you want to do meat on one side and a vegetable or something that needs that solid surface on the other side.  It’s also good for bacon and fried eggs.  Mike

Ollie really in the wild at Box Creek NFS decommissioned campground, Moran, WY.  Note that this campground was decommissioned due to bear activity.

Be advised that the wind here can be a bit on the wild side!
