  1. I have been with Oliver since early 2014 and just wanted to add my insight. The Forums were developed as a way to communicate between owners about modifications, places to see, etc. They were never intended to be, nor are they now, a direct communication channel between owners and the company. There are five Oliver owners that are moderators and well over 1,000 members to give their take on things. At any given time, day or night, there are anywhere from 5-20 people active simultaneously on the Forum. We are a small company and unfortunately just don't have the resources to monitor the forums on an around the clock basis. Yes, we do try to post information or technical bulletins when we develop them, but as a small, growing company we find ourselves wearing many hats and can't always do it in a manner that satisfies our media driven society’s need for instant responses. It may seem that we are ignoring issues or requests when we don't reply or post something here, but believe me, nothing could be further from the truth. Our reputation for integrity and transparency probably works against us sometime as we set the bar so much higher for ourselves than others in our industry. We definitely want you to be happy with your Oliver. I have worked for good and bad companies over the years and can happily say that Oliver truly cares about their customers and its employees. My suggestion for anything technically related with your Oliver, whether it is a warranty related issue or a routine service is to contact Jason in our service department. He can be reached during normal business hours at 866-205-2621 or 931-796-6836. He always tries to return calls the same day, but again, like the rest of us, he’s only human and unfortunately, we have to let him go home sometimes too. If for some reason, you don’t hear back from him in a timely manner, please try reaching out to Brent in our Sales department at 888-526-3978.

  3. This week I added the much needed (by me) water accumulator tank to the outlet of of the water pump. The following may be helpful to you if you want to add to your trailer. FYI, the factory has added this to all the 2018 trailers as I understand. I decided to not only add the accumulator tank, but also utilize the silence kit which adds 2 ea. 30" hoses. The reason was to make the mounting more flexible. With the hoses, I would not be limited where I mounted the tank. (You may be able to find suitable hoses locally, but having everything arrive at my doorstep has it's benefits.) Parts I used: 1. ea SHURflo 182-200 Accumulator tank. $42.11 on Amazon today 1. ea SHURflo 94-591-01 Silencing kit. $25.94 on Amazon 1. Remove the 4 mounting screws in the pump base. 2. Turn off water pump, open the sink valve to relieve the water pressure, and remove the short white hose between the output port of the pump and the valves to the right of the pump. Have towels available because the faucet is higher than the pump so some water will drain out when you break the connections. 3. Before I remounted the pump, I tested several locations for the tank. I chose to move the pump as far to the left, allowing the tank to be mounted to the right. I dressed the hoses around trying to minimize any sharp turns and minimize the hoses hitting other objects. 4. After you have all the connections secure, test the setup, and if you're satisfied, mount the pump and tank. This modification made my trailer much more pleasant to be in. At times the pump vibrations would make the plumbing lines vibrate against the back of the cabinets and sounded like a jack hammer. The tank is pre-charged to about 30 psi. As you can see from my picture, I placed the tank so I could access the air connection should I need to adjust the pressure.

  4. I did it. Ordered my Oliver which is scheduled for production in early February. My dream had always been pulling an Airstream until reading about the Oliver alternative. Without ever physically seeing the trailer I made a deposit. A few weeks later I was able to see the factory tour and was not disappointed. Looking forward to the adventures she may bring. I live with my lovely wife on the beautiful island of Hilton Head. We share our house with an unfriendly cat whose name is Pearl. I have a goal to be an average golfer, far from reaching. Hoping to visit golf courses around the nation in my travels. First time travel trailer owner and finding excellent guidance in this forum. I’m looking forward to our shared experiences and hope to meet some of you along the way.

  5. In the basement storage compartment of the LE2 there is a switch and a light. Guess I had never bent that low while looking up. I had always used a flashlight. I was looking to see what it would take to add one and "poof" there it was. Am I the only one who missed it?

  6. There have been a number of threads about this in the last 12 months, things seemed to have stalled out in Howenwald.... Today I sent this to Oliver via their Service Request page... Hi, I don't need this for my own trailer, since I modified the pickup design myself, but you REALLY need to post a service bulletin describing how to get this done, especially about the availability of a rental or loaner spin-weld tool to install the threaded fitting into the top of the tank. The tool is expensive (especially for a single use), hard to acquire and most RV dealers will not have one. It has been a year since this subject was started and I have seen no sign of any progress on the forum. Have you modded trailers away from the factory, and how was the work accomplished? This long delay is unacceptable. Comments? has anyone seen or used a factory kit that included the special tool? FYI - older related threads: http://olivertraveltrailers.com/topic/has-anyone-received-the-fresh-water-pickup-tube-kit-and-did-it-include-the-spin/ http://olivertraveltrailers.com/topic/fresh-water-tank-modification-new-suction-line/ http://olivertraveltrailers.com/topic/how-to-fresh-water-tank-suction-tube-mod-no-spin-welding-required/ Thanks, John Davies Spokane WA

  7. Matt, Thanks for the comment. I'm sure Oliver is busy and I believe they are doing their best. It seems to me that this forum is being used as designed, as a place where owners can communicate with each other. That is where some of the friction shows up. Some of the issues that have come have been brought up directly with Oliver and have not been answered. I, for instance have called Jason several times with a friendly message and request he contact me about the water tanks. I was never contacted, so I addressed the problem myself. Months later, I have still not been contacted and it doesn't matter at this point. This has nothing to do with a need for instant gratification. Meanwhile, I and others have posted detailed pictures, procedures and videos about how to work around the problems, such as the water tank issue and the grounding problem. It seems like Oliver would want to be involved in that kind of stuff. At one point we were told that the grounding issue was fixed after a certain hull number or year, but it was not true, so I and others have addressed that issue ourselves too. During discussions about these issues we contact each other for advice on this site. I hope Oliver is monitoring the comments, but If they are not, and they don't return phone calls, or they give out false information, it leads to frustration. Again, I love my trailer and have a lot of repect for Oliver, but it's worrysome to be met with silence about problems. I'm not looking for any handholding and I can figure out how to jack it up, but it would be nice to be able to contact them and get a thoughtful response. I imagine that Oliver is very busy, and that is good, I want them to be very succsessful with their excellent trailers, but maybe it's time to get someone in that is designated as a liason and can return calls and give accurate information about the few troubling issues that have come up. Jason is very good at what he does and maybe he should be allowed to continue to focus on that, without distraction. If we, as owners, use this site as a way to communicate with each other, and it's an official site, then prospective buyers are reading it too. I have happily shown my trailer to a number of possible buyers and always tout the great design and special features, but it must hurt sales to have possible buyers read frustrated posts. Wouldn't it be better to have the contact person I suggested, to address possible issues before they get bigger? Some of the questions, like how to jack it up correctly, could have easily been resolved with a clear letter on this forum by a person from Oliver that could have explained the discrepancy. BTW, that has never been a controversial issue with me, but it was discussed a lot. Then there was the broken door slides (mine have been fine) that caused some folks to at least threaten to cancel their orders, when it could have been resolved very quickly if proper attention was given to the problem. So, I think it's just a communication problem and the sometimes seeming lack of dealing with problems. True or not, that is the root of the problem and the seed of the frustration. I have run a small businees for 40 years and I am acutely aware of how difficult and overwhelming public relations and problem solving can be. Those problems come with the territory and are a byproduct of success. The bigger Oliver gets the more squeaky wheels there will be and the more opportunites for developing a devoted following.

  8. I would like to offer some love to that old mare. I called Jason several months ago and scheduled a visit to the mothership next week. He informed me that the fix for the fresh water tank could be done in an hour or so. Come on in and we will get'er done. I am greatful for small favors, if it didn't work out, I was planning to ask to loan/rent the tool to install the mod myself. I know that experience in proceedures with plastic count for a lot in my book. I hope to observe and lend a hand so that I might be able to help another Ollie owner in the future.

  11. Hello! My story is similar, researched Airstream’s for a few years, but ordered my Oliver sight unseen on recommendation from a good friend. Wanted solar and the composting toilet. Picked it up last November and currently camping at the Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort on HHI! I’ve come every year for 17 years to timeshare, but this is a first time camping here. I’m from MA, and not missing the current snowstorms one bit. You will love your trailer, just be prepared for a steep learning curve with all the special features. Jason the service manager is terrific, and you will find the forum members will come to your aid quickly!

  12. Thank you! Got the 25 ft cable at Walmart and attached. Had a fuzzy screen and tried to find out why. Didn’t know to turn off the green light. Thanks so much for your quick reply!

  13. The orientation of the accumulator is irrelevant. Vertical or horizontal is fine. It's more important to find a mounting that gets it as close to the pump as is practical and mounts it securely enough that it doesn't flop around. If the pump stutters when trying to shut off, the problem can be too long of a hose to it or too small of a hose diameter. The pressure should be a bit lower than the operating pressure of the pump switch. Enough lower that it accumulates enough water to reduce cycling and reduces high pressure buildup from expanding water as the water heater warms up. I set mine at 20 PSI and the pump wants to shut off at about 40 PSI. If the system is at 40 PSI and I turn on the water heater from cold, the pressure climbes to about 60 PSI. This is much better than going up over 100 PSI and popping the relief valve. It seems to me these accumulators are a bit small for the best operation, but they are much better than nothing. I'm considering changing mine to a domestic style, number 5 model designed for residential water heaters, but they do take up more room. As long as there is pressure in the bladder, the tank will empty completely when the system is drained. There will always be pressure as long as the bladder doesn't leak, and if it does leak, you'll know it by the sound of the pump as it goes back to cycling too much like before the accumulator was installed.

  14. John, As you know, I designed the fix, developed the hardware, brought in the required router, and did a couple of installations. Reed documented the work as it was being done on his trailer and posted it. I posted a detailed look at the parts required and explained the procedure. The fix I designed and am using, works perfectly. I also contacted Oliver and offered to assist them in getting this repair off the ground for existing trailers. I never got any response of any kind from them. Nothing. Silence. Others have requested "kits" from Oliver and have gotten practically nothing. There is no support of any kind, that I can see, regarding the tank upgrade. I'm afraid this is typical and it's too bad. But I can assist anyone wanting to do the upgrade by lending the tool, supplying the parts, etc. I love my trailer and it's a real keeper, but as time goes by, I'm realizing we are all on our own with issues that Oliver doesn't want to deal with. Hopefully, there won't be any issues that I can't deal with on my own. The water tank problem was a mistake in design and not a failure. As you know, this isn't the first time we've gotten the silent treatment or had a response that didn't make sense. It would be better and less frustrating if Oliver simply said "we are not going to help you with that" or "we don't know what to do about that" or "we'll get to that issue when we can" or "that is not covered under our warrantee".

  15. Hey June, the cable connection should be on the back drivers side corner. There’s a cap that lifts up with the connection underneath. You need to get a coaxial cable for TV. You can get one at Walmart, Home Depot, etc. I got one 25’ long. Sometimes campgrounds will let you borrow one. Doesn’t hurt to ask. The connectors look like this: After you connect the cable to the outside of the trailer here’s what you need to do next. If you have the HD TV antenna (looks like a white flying saucer on the top of your trailer) look in the back overhead storage on the left for a small box with a small button and light. If the light is on, push the button so it goes off. Now you’re ready for cable. Turn on the TV and go to the menu to select cable as your source. Then do a channel scan and you’ll be good to go. Mike

  16. I don’t recall this being mentioned, it is pretty darned cool and will be very useful to anyone who camps west of the Black Hills. http://www.hogtimemusic.com/nomad/MultiYrCampsiteMap.htm Note that he has a truck camper, so with a trailer you should probably study the satellite maps before commtting to an isolated forest road.... more here: https://www.truckcampermagazine.com/camper-lifestyle/the-25-best-campgrounds-of-the-west/ John Davies Spokane WA

  17. My initial plan was to go vertical, but it proved to be more practical to mount horizontal . The main thing is no warer is trapped inside the tank when winterizing. I use a compressor to do the initial purge, then the pink stuff for the final step. So, I'm comfortable that no water remains in the system. As far as performance, the positioning is not a factor.

  18. On our 2018 it is horizontal next to the pump.

  19. I had posted that the accumulator tank should be installed vertically. That was based upon a how-to web site and a The ShuFlow documentation is more circumspect. It says: The accumulator can be mounted in any position. However, for complete sanitizing/winterizing, the recommended mounting position is with pre-charge valve stem up. Can someone report how the Oliver factory is installing them?

  20. @kountrykamper @hap I reached out to Jason Essary and here is what he said: First part is that on the Elite II we don’t have to worry about jack failure for the flat tire as you should not use the jack to raise the trailer. You would want to run the good tire up onto a block or special tire ramp to lift the other tire off the ground for easy changing. Jack spots. There aren’t any built in jack spots per se like you might find on a car or van with a special reinforced area for the jack. The best place would be to place the jack on the steel section of the subframe as close to the tire that needs to be lifted. DO NOT put the jack under the axle or leaf springs. Thanks, Jason

  21. Yes, there is an HDMI port, but is occupied by the HDMI cable from the radio/DVD player. There are not two HDMI ports. So you will need to swap out cables if you want to switch from the fire stick to the DVD player. Another option is to use a small HDMI switcher such as this.

  23. As a "normal" habit I go over every thing I purchase and make adjustments to either things that were not completed correctly (at least to my standards) in the first place or to make my life easier in the long run. Knowing Anita as I do, I'm sure that she was trying to make a "funny". But, for those that have had problems these things really don't seem to be too funny. Certainly better to make those adjustments in a place where one has the tools and supplies as opposed to being out in the middle of nowhere and suddenly having a real problem. Bill

  24. Reed, We had two window leaks in the Ollie. First leak was top of dinette window last year. Oliver resealed outdoor porch light fixture above window including hole where wire passes into the hull. Another leak appeared at top of rear window, too. Decided to makes repairs at home this time. Found water coming in around rear exterior Oliver sign/ LED housing above window. Appeared to be 3m 4000 marine sealant holding Oliver sign lens in place, took some time to remove old sealant. Resealed with Starbrite white marine silicone. Did not want to use 3M 4000 sealant again, used something flexible and easy to remove. Happy to report no leaks in either window after very heavy rains.
