  2. These fittings can come off. When they do you will need to carefully remove the strainer washer and use a 1/2 inch hex key (Allen wrench) to reinstall. It only needs to be snugged up because there is a rubber washer on the back side. A bolt with a 1/2 inch head and 2 jam nuts will also work. Might be wise to check them when convenient rather than replace them when inconvenient.

  3. Greetings Campers, I would like to extend a hearty “THANK YOU“ to Foy Sperring the food master, Matt Duncan, the PR & Advertising master at Oliver, to all our volunteers and especially, Scott Oliver, President, Oliver Travel Trailers who without his sponsorship of the 2018 Oliver Travel Trailer Owner’s Rally, it would not have been possible. Success begets success. Everyone wants to know when the 2019 Oliver Travel Trailer Owners Rally will occur. Although we have reached agreement with Lake Guntersville State Park on the date, we are finalizing agreement on registration details for next year’s rally. For the 2018 rally, we encountered significant problems and confusion when registering for both Oliver Travel Trailers and Lake Guntersville State Park. For 2019, we want to have a single point of registration, for collection of attendee fees and campground reservations. Until we have the process worked out, we cannot release the exact date. For planning purposes, the rally will occur in May 2019 at Lake Guntersville State Park, Guntersville, Alabama. We will announce the final dates as soon as we have the registration process and a budget completed. The last night of the rally, I made an appeal for assistance in planning and organizing the 2019 rally. This appeal still stands. I can be reached at coy.gayle8115@yahoo.com Please contact me if you would like to be a part of the planning, organizing and executing the 2019 Oliver Travel Trailer Owner’s Rally. Our priority for assistance now is for someone who can assist in accounting. As we plan for next year’s rally, we will incur expenses that will need to be paid. We will need to develop a budget for the rally. Please contact me directly if interested. Most, if not all work can be done via Internet and telephone. We will need to develop a budget before we set the fee structure and this has to be done before we release the date of the rally. I want the income and expense of the rally to be done with transparency and integrity so I need assistance with the budget and accounting of funds. To move the rally from a good rally (2018) to a great rally (2019), I would like to have committees of volunteers. Below is the ideal structure for planning, organizing and executing the next rally. Please give consideration to being a part of the 2019 rally and contact me soonest if interested. 5. This is my philosophy as well. Solar, composting toilet, 3 20-liter Spectre water cans and drive to a higher elevation if you're too warm. I plan my camping trips to enjoy low temperatures at night no higher than 70 to 73 degrees. I've been caught in unexpected warmer weather and that forced me to find a campsite with electricity, but I never sleep well with the A/C running. I've never had a generator and don't plan to purchase one. Don

  7. We had no problem either...until we did. We were on pavement coming home from the factory after a service visit. Not sure why it failed then since the road was smooth although it was curvy. Anyway, as you can see the drawer was not overloaded. Oliver repaired the drawer. We have since installed the footman loops like John Davies has. I don’t want to worry about what I put in my drawers all the time.

  8. We do not have the shower curtain track in our Oliver but did have one in our Bigfoot. They make stops for the curtain track. This is like the one in our Bigfoot. You could probably use a bit of chalk in the track to stop the curtain where you wanted without using an end stop.

  9. Yes the door has a lip on the bottom to channel the water back into the shower.

  10. Bill, as always, is correct! These work with an Elite II right out of the box. Back off of them slowly when you're ready to break camp. I've never had a problem with getting them stuck between the wheels. Don

  11. Nope - no trimming necessary. However, it is a fairly snug fit. Really not bad except for when it is time to leave camp. One must be a bit careful to back off the levelers far enough so that you can remove them from under the wheels, but, not back off so far that the leveler in between the wheels gets "trapped". Bill

  12. Nick, thanks for the very informative post, but if you read really close, you’ll notice this thread is about generators.

  13. I would be curious if a magnet would stick to BorninPalatka's too. It looks like it is a different metal then ours. What did Jason have to say?

  14. That's disappointing. We ordered that shower curtain track and are in the process of shopping for a curtain now. Prior to ordering we waffled back and forth on whether to buy it. In the end we thought the factory solution was cleaner than a straight bar and we could easily choose to not use it. Maybe a snap at the top of the uphill side would hold it in position when desired. Or a thin hook (aside: I recently discovered 3M makes Command strips for bathrooms / wet environments) could be used to grab the first hole on the shower curtain.

  15. I have a shade problem with the cracks too and have contacted the shade company. They say they will send them out in about a month because they are backlogged.

  16. I'm guessing that these Andersen's are a bit lighter than wood - but at that price I think that I'll take the chance with termites. On the other hand, the Andersen ramps are great!

  17. Wade. the Oliver is no OFFROAD trailer, but it can be terrific on maintained gravel and ranch roads. Any trailer will require some rock protection to prevent nasty damage to the finish, what equipment you decide on depends on the places you will go, and on your tolerance for rock dings and dents. Check out some posts by Overland or PM him, he has the most offroady unit so far, with a 360 degree coupler, HD swiveling tongue jack, extra solar panels, lithium batteries and a Raptor to pull it with. He can answer any questions about taking the Oliver as far as it can safely go. The smaller Elite I is way more capable in the rough but it sounds as if you want the extra room inside. I have equipped Mouse with rear mud flaps, under chassis skirts and a Stone Stomper in front, and this has almost eliminated damage from long periods of driving on unpaved roads. I still have issues with dust intrusion in a few places, and am thinking about a great solution for that. Welcome to the Forums., John Davies Spokane WA

  18. Wade, At one time we had bought a Scamp that had been sitting in a field neglected for quite a few years. The owner dropped the price by 25% before we picked it up, because he found a big hole in the floor. We removed cabinets and partitions to repair the floor. While at it out came the ice box and in went a 3 way refrigerator. A toilet was added, drawers added, furnace ducts upgraded, new tires, a wash and wax, and so on. And then, the unthinkable happened. Someone came along, with cash in hand, and offered me 3 times what I had invested in it. As he left he also said he would have paid more. From this experience we learned two (maybe three) things. Some time later we found we missed the trailer. We started to look for a replacement. We knew something a little bigger would fit our life style better, but also we wanted some thing that would fit down narrow roads and paths. We started by looking at used Airstreams. One thing that struck us was a lot said floor had been repaired or replaced. Been there, not again. Most needed to be polished, and that lead to the discussion of dent removal and hail damage. Maybe time to keep looking. Then we found the Oliver, and the rest is history. Solar power, LED lights, warm even in a rest area when there is black ice and snow outside, high clearance, and great road manners. An awning that is easy to put out and a heavy aluminium frame that won't rust out. But maybe most of all, for me anyway, no particle board floors...

  19. Found this service manual on the internet. We could try to get it added to the Oliver University but I suspect that since it is a “service” manual it won’t be added. Any way there is some real good info here for those who DIY. https://www.carefreeofcolorado.com/documents/Freedom-WM-Service-Manual.pdf See page 13. 20. Hey Wade, welcome! We looked at getting an Airstream 23FB for a couple of years, but went with Oliver. The Oliver wins the off road/off grid contest easily. The Airstream is probably more comfortable - it’s a foot wider and does not have a wet bath. For us, our Oliver is plenty comfortable and we value the off grid capabilities. After 2 years and around 30K miles we remain very happy with our decision. Mike

  22. Get a tall ladder, a rope, some rags and a foam camping pad to kneel on. Pad the ladder and secure it to the awning with the rope. If your silly drip seal is still in place, you can’t do this, so tie it to the entry grab bar and be really careful not to knock your ladder over! If you have to go up near the door, you need to tilt the solar panel up to be able to walk past it. If you climb up near the rear, this is not needed. (This is another excellent reason to throw away that seal. You can clean the accumulated muck from behind it at the same time.) Climb on roof, awning side only (so you don’t slide off). Remove cover of AC. Clear drain of debris. Inspect and clean other components as needed. Reinstall cover. Climb down. Go get a beer. Blowing compressed air up from the drain bottom opening might work but it won’t get the debris away from the top opening, so it will probably plug up again. You need to physically go check out what is going on up top. If you have some 303 Protectant, clean and treat the plastic cover to keep it from getting brittle. Nobody said owning an RV was easy.... I just spent most of a day on the roof detailing. If in doubt, find a young person to do this for you or take it to an RV $hop! Note that the seal is gone: Good luck. John Davies Spokane WA
