  1. FWIW, an additional safeguard beyond pool noodles is reinforcing material added to the chafing spots. We do this routinely with sail covers, where lines or hardware make contact with the cover. I mark the spots with tailor's chalk, and take the cover to our favorite canvas shop. They add reinforcement patches on the wear surface (in this case, they'd go on the inside) as a sacrificial lamb. Helps to keep the cover intact. We do a lot of work with, and refer a number of folks, to our favorite shop, so they charged me about 100 for six reinforcement patches last time. I think I got a little discount. Might be more where you are. I don't know. Our sail covers are to big for me to use my machine, and doing that work by hand is just too much for me these days. Lynn has a huge table and can deal with the weight of the covers better than I can. Just a thought. I'd still use the pool noodles, even so, as a trailer cover shifts a lot more than a sail cover in weather. Sherry

  2. Glad you like it- I had the auto wipers on my Ford - hated them I don't mind the column - - not a big deal for me I purchased the GMC over the ford just for what you mentioned - the ride is vastly better - and I liked the interior. The new versions - yours- has the trailer TPMs - so that is the only "suction" device i have... i am not a big camera fan - perhaps one day. If GM ever goes back to work, perhaps a 2021-22 Happy trails. RB

  3. "Finally! Going down to the service center in a couple weeks hope to maybe take a peek. " Normally when we send "spies" on a mission they are told to be secretive. Perhaps a full frontal assault will take them by surprise? In any case - the usual applies - if you are caught we will deny any knowledge of your existence. "Family"? What family? Mike? 4. It’s good news. I just hope it’s a legit option and not just a few battleborn thrown into the battery tray. lithium pro to me would be a roof full of solar, 30+ SEER heat pump, induction stove, and Danfoss/Secop fridge. Then it deserves the powered by lithium badge.

  5. That's a really big price increase! It would make a really good down payment on a permanent carport, or you could buy one of the fabric carports for probably half the price, if your zoning allows you to put up either one. Sherry

  6. We haven't towed yet - I just got the TPMS sensors installed and my B&W multipro compatible hitch this week. Truck is off getting some clear bra installed this week so I have a Scion xB loaner. It feels like a go-cart in comparison. So far very happy with the truck. Cameras on it are awesome, especially the rear mirror one. I get pretty good mileage for what it is. Interior isn't as bad as all the whiners make it out to be. My vertically challenged wife can see well between the mirrors and cameras -- movable pedals wouldn't gain us much more. The ride is amazing for what it is. It's not the Navigator by any means (variable valved 4 corner independent coil suspension), but it blows the Ford HD trucks out of the water. The multipro tailgate is worth getting the GMC (or if Chevy adds it in 2021) in my opinion -- being able to walk in and out of the bed is great. Minor gripes: * I want carplay in the center dash so I can use the super-HD camera that GM has -- its a newer feature but hoping GM comes through. Otherwise if I could switch the camera-mirror to the trailer camera or invisible trailer mode, that would also work. Goal is zero things on the dash/suction cupped/etc... My furion WiFi camera usually has a tendency of falling off the windshield right as it comes time to back up the trailer. * no automatic wipers -- this kind of surprised me - it's not even an option. In WA automatic wipers help with our varying levels of things that aren't rain: mist, drizzles, showers, road spray, etc... * no camera button -- I have to hit home and the icon on the screen - so not as convenient when you're like "hmm wonder if I can clear that". Rather have that as a physical button. * Not a fan of the column shifter - it's still just telling a computer what to do. I like the buttons for <P R N D L> on some cars best as it is much easier to hit the gear you want, and even rock out of a rut. I do like it better than a console shifter that eats up room for no reason. * I still would have loved something with these features, a bench front seat, and carpet delete (knew about before buying) * Still not sure why no adaptive cruise - when the 1500 has many of the same parts and has it.(knew about before buying) * No blindspot coverage with trailer (wouldn't be surprised if this is a 2021 feature) (knew about before buying) I'll go a little more detailed, maybe even with a video, once we tow in June.

  7. "How difficult is the cover it install and remove? How often do I need to connect to shore power to keep the batteries protected, or can I leave the power connected? Does one need to pad the solar panel corners to protect the cover?" Papabiker - As with most things the answers to your questions can be summed up with - "It depends". But I'm sure that this answer doesn't really help you very much. Keep in mind that these CalMark covers (and ADCO covers) are both made from a canvas-like material and are therefore fairly heavy. They are even heavier when wet. In order to cover an RV, they are also fairly large. So, installing and removing when it is windy can be a challenge and I would not even attempt to install when either the cover or the Ollie is wet. I have always installed mine all by myself but certainly this project would be bunches easier with two people. At least one (if not two) ladders are required and to install, the cover must be lifted onto the roof. If it helps you - I'm six feet tall, 165 pounds and in fairly good physical condition - I exercise 6 days a week. Interestingly, removing the cover is easier than installation. If you remove it from front to back, once you clear the solar panels the cover virtually slides over the air conditioner and off the back of the Oliver all by itself due to the weight of the cover pulling it off. Padding the solar panels and (at least) the rear bumper is a must. I have also had some wear of the cover in and around the area of the steps that you might want to pad. I use "pool noodles" for both the solar panels and the bumper. The bigger the pool noodles the better. CalMark does include a patch/repair kit with new covers and it is very simple to use in the event of a tear. Finally, your question regarding batteries. While both these covers "breathe" the answers depend on which batteries you have, how long you will have your Oliver in storage and the type of weather in your area. In my case I still have the old fashion lead acid batteries, I leave my Oliver in storage for as long as 6 to 7 months at a time, typically our winters can get down below freezing for a few days in a row, and (of course) I disconnect all power drains from the batteries. Since the solar panels are covered, they are of no use, so, I connect a small 25 watt solar panel to the batteries and this keeps them at full charge with a very low and slow charge rate thus not causing very much "off-gassing" of the lead acid batteries. However, during long periods of storage, I do check the batteries every 8 to 10 weeks and add distilled water as necessary. I have read posts where owners have not touched their Oliver for similar periods of time in worse weather conditions than I ever experience and the batteries were still fine. But, I'm very conservative with my equipment. Hope this helps you. If you have further questions - either PM me or post them here. Bill

  9. When we drove down, we came from the Seattle area, so we had bought almost everything to fully outfit the trailer including all kitchen items, bedding, our clothes etc. In Hohenwald, a few blocks from the Oliver delivery center are both a Walmart and a Tractor Supply. We had carried in our truck a couple ice chests and bought all our fridge items at the Walmart in the AM before we went to our pickup... Also...if you're interested in what others have bought for their Oliver's you can check out the Oliver Trailer Outfitters link on Amazon. 10. I will post what I can when everything is finalized and I know the ball is rolling. I will be moving on from the brand and Oliver will be helping me do that. I'm trying to be as reasonable as possible and I'm confident they'll do the same. More to come later, thanks.

  11. I would appreciate your final out come on the matter. I have followed your posts and agree with you. I shared similar issues and posts. Some may not like the bad press on the forum, but i think it is important. We are all Oliver owners this forum should be for the good bad and sometimes ugly. If pressure isn’t put on the company by these issues. Then no change will be accomplished. Thank you.

  15. Love the gif. Pass the popcorn. Tests have been done in Australia on far more efficient ac units than the Dometic units available to the US. and, we've all seen Overland's experiment. Will it run ac? Sure. How long.... However, I'm really glad Oliver is getting into lithium. Maybe then, they'll offer a dc danfoss compressor refrigerator . 😄 Sherry

  16. Final update: Oliver is stepping up to make things right so we can all move on. We're all disappointed but its for the best at this point. Take care.

  17. For anyone looking for a Ford F150 TV, Hertz has declared bankruptcy and has a fair amount of those in stock at good prices. https://www.hertzcarsales.com/ Their interface is not very easy to use but make sure you have your location and distance to cover most of the nation and especially the south. 18. So these were the two brass connectors, and you can see the full split down the length of them. Oliver was very responsive and got me the parts quickly. I finally got around to changing them out yesterday. It was a tight spot to work in, but honestly the most frustrating part was trying to wrap the plumbers tape around the threading of the intake in such a tight space - that stuff twisted and stuck to everything but the threading. Took about 2 hours total, but we are back in business. Thanks everyone for your input.

  19. I purchased 2 of the A1 2300/1800 generators from Sam's on sale for $700. I researched every brand out there and the Honda & Yamaha were the front runners for sure. With the amount of use it was hard to justify the expenditure to purchase one Honda.... and with the current recall that kinda made my mind up. (Plus having $300 in Sams rebate cash made the decision much easier.). The reviews on most all different brands are very positive. Availability and trust in your neighborhood store or repair shop is really what makes or breaks having a good experience. Usually if you do not have problems from the start when you purchase a product you normally are satisfied. I have ran one of the generators around 2 hours now and it seems to do a very dependable and capable. Only time will tell. Once we get our Ollie in July we will do some testing to make sure everything runs great. Erv Carter

  20. John, I spoke to Jason when I had this happen and he said it is very common. His suggestion was to drive the trailer over a bump, like a speed bump and it will correct itself. That is how they do it at Oliver service. I didn't want to hook up the trailer so, I lowered the front of trailer and raised the back, until the front shackles flipped. I then lowered each rear side with a piece of wood and a jack under the center rear shackles. As I lowered the rear jacks, the shackles righted themselves. It took a couple of tries as one would flip but the other wouldn't. Andrew

  21. The biggest problem IMHO is not so much finding a “reputable” dealer or shop, tho that is hard, but finding one that does not have a six week backlog of work. In recent years RV sales have skyrocketed but the building of new campgrounds and service facilities has not. This is not a sustainable long term situation. Something is going to collapse. 22. jhorton, We had the same problem. Probably better tools available than what I used. Used a wood paint stir stick sharpened to a dull point on one end to remove the sealant without damaging lens or gel-coat. Took my time being very careful. After digging out all of the sealant possible with the lens in place, used the same wood paint stir stick sharpened on one end to lightly pry the lens out placing plenty of cloth padding between the wood stick and gel-coat to prevent damage to the gel-coat/lens. Removed the lens twice because of leaks. Sealant used by Oliver leaked the first two times. Recommend contacting Oliver, they may be using different sealant on the Lens than sealant used during 2015. Last time used white Marine Silicone adhesive/sealant to stop the leak. Taped the lens and gel-coat with painters tape where I did not want the adhesive/sealant to contact. Placed the tape so it could be pulled off in one direction while applying the adhesive/sealant. Have not had any leaks since sealing lens last year accumulating over 12,000 miles on Ollie during that time. This is where the water dripped from the LED lens housing in the upper rear cabinet: Resealed lens:
