  1. Milton made landfall at Siesta key/Sarasota around 8:30. Moving very fast. Damages from wind, torrential rains, and tornadoes will be seen in a big part of the state. No power in many many places. About a quarter of our county, so far. My extended family and friends have all reported in. Safe and good.

  2. For the last few hours members of our "family" have started to feel the effects of this hurricane. This is only the beginning of a 12 to 16 hour period that is forecast to bring up to 20 inches of rain and a record storm surge. Hopefully everyone will make it through this storm safely and the damage that it is sure to cause will be somewhat limited. God speed to all of those in the storm's path. Bill

  3. I've just received emails from both Shallowgal and Mossemi. Both report bunches of wind and rain. Power was/is out for both since between 9:30 and 10:00 last night. Apparently a small tree has fallen on Mossemi's house causing little damage. Shallowgal "only" has small tree branches to clean up around the house. Hopefully most of the rest of Florida sees similar. Bill p.s. glad to read Seadawg's report above too.

  4. See you there. Moderators of the Forum just want to make sure everyone that would want to attend have the opportunity to do so. There are many new owners that may not have realized there is a Rally they can attend this year.

  5. Fix for falling shade frames. I tried replacing the clips and applied silicone to help hold. Nope. The large shade frame fell off again on the last trip so I was determined to do something different. The shade frames will never fall off again. I removed all of the clips and their spacers. Cut and installed 4" long sections of aluminum c-channel purchased from Home Depot using original screws along with blue Loctite. Then placed the frames back on, drilled and attached the shade frames with #6 stainless steel screws. Fitment is perfect. Hope this helps others. Photos attached.

  7. As Bill reported, Mike and Krunch Mossy are both alive and well. He asked me to let everyone know.

  8. I would remove the bolt and use that hole to run the new cable. The bolt likely has a wire attached going into the interior. You might be able to use the existing cable to pull the new cable through to the interior. Then clean up the rooftop mess until you get it completely clean with rubbing alcohol. Use 3M 4950 VHB tape to connect the Shark Fin to the roof. Add a little dab of caulk to seal the cable opening.

  9. Wow, those temps are almost too good. You should probably run it a lower setting. Ours is set on 4 out of 5. Update on our fridge, now half full of food. I moved the Ruuvi sensor from the far corner of the door to under the drip tray. Read the labels in the picture. I had these in my garage and guitar cabinet, hence the pics. It's been a semi-cloudy day and rooftop solar is keeping up with the fridge on DC mode. Warmer in the cabin than the trunk, cause the windows are closed and no A/C on. Very happy with these temps now.

  10. The 5100 Bilstein rear shocks do not create a lift, only the fronts will do that. I paid around $500 for the set of fronts and rears at Shock Surplus. However when install the Road Active Suspension this device does raise the rear about an inch and half or so.

  11. I have the trim lok drip rail above the windows and Oliver sign on rear of trailer, very satisfied with it. The Trim Lok is 1/2” deep/wide, I discovered this 3/4” deep/wide drip rail that should work great for below the awning.

  12. That would be Trim-Lok Drip Rail. Great for around the windows. Looks like it could be great on the awning application as well. Link is: https://www.amazon.com/Trim-Lok-Drip-Rail-White-Height/dp/B01CJRH19Y?th=1 Scotty

  13. The rooftop-mounted external antennas may work under optimum conditions, but I wanted an antenna up high to clear obstructions (trees, topography). I’ve gotten cell service in parks claiming to not have cell service with a weBoost Drive X-RV setup; for instance Davis Mountains SP in West Texas.

  16. We’ve stayed at Gun Creek, nice campground. Cumberland Mountain State Park in Crossville has a nice campground, especially area 5. Buc-ee’s usually has the lowest price gas and diesel, we usually stop. We’re getting a Buc-ee’s here in little old Boerne Texas on I-10 in a year or so. Mike

  17. That’s not OEM. That looks like what most of us have used to go around our windows. The original seal is bigger and a different shape. Mike

  18. You got that right, ‘low’ is the way to ‘go’! Camped for a week in moderate ambient temps and found this energy miser mode to be sufficient to meet our cooling needs. Best of all, this light sleeper didn’t have to fuss with ear plugs! Also had an opportunity to use the heat pump with night temps dropping into the mid to upper 60s. There is an increase in noise level, but this mode heats quickly and the fan shuts down completely between cycles. Love me some Atmos!

  19. Dave, Thanks for the recommendations. It is amazing that fiberglass (key word glass) cuts through rivets. I need to do the project again I'll implement your suggestions. I'l also discuss your ideas with the factory when we close the ticket. Close ups of how the rivet failed. The factory had asked for these pix below. I'd be interested in your thoughts on the failure mechanism of rivets in the pix.

  20. I have a '20 Tundra TRD Sport which was purchased before I knew I'd own an Oliver and right after Covid began and dealers were desperate. I have done no suspension modifications but added taller Michelin Defender tires. I do have the TRD sway bars and Bilstein shocks which I think are helpful features. I have no squat at all with the WDH. Outside of payload, which is low..around 1300# .. I find it to be a perfectly acceptable tow vehicle for the ILOVHER. It has plenty of power with the V8 and when using the Tow/Haul mode, the transmission comes to life. RPMs at times can tip up to 3k+ if you're a lead foot but doesn't stay there. I like the integrated brake controller and the plug and play seven pin. I am certain when its time to do brakes, I'm going big ProComp slotted. I would just feel safer with bigger braking power. The other thing I will add at a later date is an external transmission cooler. Somehow Toyota slipped that out of the builds starting in 2019 and uses some kind of heat exchanger. All three of my pre 2009 V8 4Runners had external coolers. There is a big stink on the Tundra forums about this as people are scan gauging pretty high ATF temps while towing. I pack light and distribute weight inside the camper if necessary (like the cooler of ice and beer) I don't do much mountain driving and if I did, the Tundra would do the job but certainly not as safely as a 3/4 ton or 1 ton diesel. I also think it's crucial with a half ton truck to have the Andersen WDH; no doubt there! With all of the above said, if money were no object, I certainly would love a larger truck but it's not in the cards as of now. The Beast is my daily driver and gas just shot to 5.29 here so I'm going to stick with her for now. With my travel primarily on the east coast, and not full time as of yet, I think its a good dependable truck for towing my baby ILOVHER.

  21. This nordicware wok skillet has become my favorite cooking utensil. Small enough on the bottom for our little burners, heats evenly, cleans up easy,, and I use it almost every day, if we have poor weather. (Unfortunately, we've had a lot of rain, this summer.) I only carry this, a small 7 or 8" skillet, a small enamelled pot (1.5 quarts, i think) with two handles, and a lid, and a teapot. I've used it many times for sautéed veggies, making kale/collard/Swiss chard greens, jambalaya, heating sauce for pre-made pasta, heating 90 second microwaveable rice (no microwave for us), pad thai with precooked noodles, fried rice, etc. The one I have works on an induction burner, too. I bought mine at Costco. I stow it in the drawer we built beneath our dc fridge, upside down, along with a few other items.

  22. Cinnamon Sugar Donuts We only make these while camping!! Special treat! I buy the Pillsbury biscuits, poke a hole in the center and fry in oil. We then shake them in a brown paper bag with cinnamon sugar. So easy. Warm donuts—everyone loves them!
