  1. My wife Jane (Hospice nurse) and I (former Bosch employee) retired earlier this year and after a cross country trip to California from home base in Chicago by car, decided we needed to investigate trailers. We had followed Oliver for a year or two, and looked at fiberglass truck bed campers prior to purchasing this Elite2. Very happy with our decision - but making many rookie mistakes as we weren’t camper prior. So far, only correctable mistakes and a few serious close calls! We head to Hohenwald tomorrow for a factory tour. Currently enjoying Green River Lake State Park in Campbellsville, KY ( beautiful park)! hope to meet you all in our coming travels! 2. In a case of odd timing, I received mine yesterday, too. Just a day after I finish my bathroom fixture replacement... I now have one of each style. If anyone has or will be getting a High Sierra shower head to replace the original Oliver pull-out faucet head (just the head, not the hose or entire faucet) let me know, and you can have either of mine free. The adapter with a male hose connection is for Oliver Travel Trailers pre-2021 and the adapter with a female hose connection is for the later model. I can bring them in April to the rally, I'll be at the Eggs-n-S'mores rally in Florida in January, or you can pay to have one shipped to you. https://www.highsierrashowerheads.com/shop/adapter-for-oliver-travel-trailers-chrome/

  3. I had the same thing happen a few years ago and posted about it then. One wire on the trailer side of the connection was loose. Melted both sides of the connection. Replaced both the outlet and the power cord. You can access the outlet from under the dinette. Not something I ever thought to check.

  4. @Patriot Ah, I see. You have an additional set of the female half of the quick connects. That’s an expensive cap! Thanks for clarifying. 👍

  5. Steve, My stock black caps fit my ELys perfectly. This is how I roll using my Ely QCs.

  6. Is your shower drain valve fully opened? Many of us have experienced "wet feet" when we forgot to open, or fully open, the shower drain valve.

  7. When Patriot told me about how he was connecting Ollie's chains, I did not use them at the time because Ollie's chains were easy to connect/disconnect on the Tundra hitch. When I purchased the F-150, first thing I noticed the chain hooks were not as easy to connect/disconnect as they were on the Tundra, then I remembered what Patriot had said before. I thought Patriot was using lifting shackles (my mistake), so started using screw-pin lifting shackles (using blue Loctite on the threads) that also exceed federal guidance that makes it easy to connect/disconnect Ollie's chains. Thanks David! 8. I received my faucet adapter for newer Oliver trailers from High Sierra today. It fits great. It is made very well to boot! If you have purchased one of these and need the adapter just go out to their web page (under Help) and submit a comment stating the year Oliver trailer you have and that you had already purchased their faucet but need the adapter for newer trailers (My 2021 E2 has a smaller, male fitting on the end of the hose).

  9. Hi Patriot and all the other helpful people, We get some pretty cold nights (and days) in the East! We like to spend time near the beaches in November. And up in the Mountains. So the ECO will be on at night. I don’t like to run the FRESH water waiting for it to heat for dishes and stuff so I switch it to COMFORT. It’s good to know in the milder weather we can turn it off. We are one year in to the Oliver and the Camping adventure and sad to see the season end. We have not gone off grid yet but are practicing up at the State reservations that only supply electricity. Thanks for the help, advice and good ideas. Catherine

  10. Wow. Thank goodness you caught this before anything more serious. Whenever I'm on shore power, I have a habit of periodically putting my hand on different parts of the cable to feel for heat. I try to do it whenever I leave or return to the trailer after having been out.

  12. I had the same issue on my 2021 LE2....with the trailer level the shower drains very slow and backs up. The work around is to use the front jack to raise the trailer one inch or more above level. You can experiment to find the workable amount for your trailer. When raised, my shower drains fast. So, I raise the trailer before using the shower and lower it back afterwards...wish it was not so...but part of the Oliver design experience ! Steve

  13. Wow! Small world! I worked in automotive aftermarket sales in Chicago and Germany , at a diesel exhaust plant in Grand Rapids, as country manager for all Bosch products in Philippines and ended in engineering out of Farmington Hills. 28 years of employment at an excellent company. Now time to travel North America!

  14. Yes, I took the ball chain off the stock black ones and screwed onto these Igloo caps. They won’t screw onto the Eleys, rather press on instead.

  17. We used our old EU2000i with a SoftStart equipped Dometic for a couple of years. Our OEII has the 3000 watt Xantrex. We only used the generator for summer boondocking in the Texas Hill Country, never at high altitude. The combination worked well most of the time. We couldn't use the microwave concurrently with the AC, and if the batteries weren't at 100%, the Xantrex had to be dialed back to the lowest charge rate. When outside the trailer, the generator was much louder than advertised due to the higher rpm and frequent surging as the AC compressor cycled. It was annoying. At least when inside the trailer the generator surging couldn't be heard over the noisy Dometic. We recently switched to the Truma AC and a 3200 watt generator. They're both much quieter, inside and outside the trailer.

  18. @Catherine The only time we left our Truma on all night was on our 48 day recent western trip. The temps while camped for a week inside Yellowstone NP dropped below freezing at for 3 nights. As a result it will run periodically and yes you will hear a slight 10 second Truma hum. It sure is nice having on demand hot water within about 8-10 seconds. Typically we just turn it off after use to conserve a little propano! On a side note, you will really like how easy it is to clean/decalcify and winterize your Truma. Welcome to the forum! Patriot 🇺🇸

  19. @Hoosier, even though yoir camper is likely out of warranty, I'd open a ticket on this. It's always best for Oliver service to know "what happened ", and perceived cause.

  20. A quick internet search revealed that 14-16 inch pounds is the correct terminal screw torque spec. But to be sure, I'd contact Furrion or whoever made your new plug to verify. I'll be checking mine now! Glad you didn't sustain too much damage. Dave

  21. Sewer gas smell I suspect. She had quite a time and covered a lot of possibilities on that one. I hope it is as sometimes I have the same problem... with my Ollie gas, not my personal effluence.

  22. Thanks for posting that! I was wondering if the regulator size was different. It makes good sense that it is. Curious that if one connects to the trailer's onboard LP quick connect, the propane is still regulated by the lower flow Oliver regulator. I would think that you would still need a stand alone tank that had the high flow regulator separate from Oliver's lower flow regulated system. That's how I plan to run mine anyway. This is very true for the newer Oliver trailers with the built in PI EMS. My 2015 Oliver has no EMS built in so I don't need the neutral/ground plug. I have the portable PI EMS, but would not be using it while boondocking and using the generator. Please correct me if I'm wrong!
