  2. Bought this at Ace Hardware for less than $20, works great! The smaller shown is from a roll of Paracord.

  3. David, I just ordered the kit because it comes with a tripod mount that I hope can be used by my Benro tripod. John

  4. Anyone using a Rockstar Commercial full width behind the axle tow flap with cutout for diesel exhaust? What truck do you have it on and does it work well? I’m not interested in any other brand or style. Bill

  5. CRM... I upgraded with new wiring through the Dexter Axles and replaced the two axle originals. Neither were worn through the insulation, so no bare wires shorting the system. In the process, ran insulated wires and inserted them through a flexible hose, nylon zip tied across each of the two axles. Exterior, back side of each Axle, with Zip Ties. Looks real... pretty. Found a Blue Wire on the outside Rear Wheel brake wiring... hidden into the plastic cover in the fender well. The wire was connected to a WHITE going to the Brakes. (Nancy was following the Seven Pin Cords into the Oliver. She is one Hot Oliver Chick Wire Hunter. I say. A good woman that gets into the situation is RARE. She is a KEEPER. Then had Nancy spin the tires on the Left... pull the Breakaway Switch... and LOCKED. Then the right side... same routine... and LOCKED. Now... going to attach the Oliver, with the Aluminum Shanked Weigh Safe with the 2" Ball, as soon as close this post. Not running a Ground Wire from the F350 to the Oliver. I purchased the 2019 27 foot FBQ Signature Airstream, that we added a 3" Lift, Two Solar Panels and went to 16" Sendel Wheels, 16 inch Michelin tires (Like the Oliver FROM the Factory... that already has the high clearance.) A previous Forum Member said that using the Aluminum Shank Weigh Safe, possibly no Ground. Nancy called Weigh Safe and was on hold. I am getting older and my nasal hairs just began to grow out of control... so enough is enough. Or the conversations are... interesting? Weigh Safe's? The BONUS of the Oliver Elite II... is the.... DOUBLE AXLE, LEAF SPRINGS, 16" MICHELIN TIRES AND SENDEL WHEELS and CLEARANCE. The Interior Storage is comparable to larger Airstreams. Owning a 23', 25' and now a 27'... the Oliver Elite II is our favorite... with the double axles. The 27 foot Airstream may be 700 pounds heavier than the Oliver Elite II. The Oliver Elite II is built to last. The shortest Airstream with Double Axles is a 23 foot. Had one... also a great travel trailer. Obvious to Nancy and I.... these Brakes may have never worked properly with the first Owner. We have followed wiring and none of it makes any sense. Of course... riding an Arabian Horse the first time... is a similar experience. Don't wear tight pants... I say. On the Horse or under an Oliver. OK? Free Advice. Buzz Off and enjoy your day. It was only 108F today. Great to be UNDER the Oliver and putting my tools back onto a shelf. Sorry that this post is so short. 🙂 I am no longer sweating, I thought I was under the Oliver and Kissed by an Angel... it was one of our Cattle Dogs licking me... and I have had 72 ounces of water already. That is another issue... to make this short. Maybe the Oliver Fairy Brake Princess will bless our Oliver? Probably not... but thanks for participating. I see a Book being outlined on this Ordeal. With illustrations, too. About kissing something... or other.

  6. @Ronbrink Our local Ace HW did not have the cord holder like yours in stock. I found this at of all places our local “Wally World“ and picked up (2) for $3.97 each. They are fairly robust and will allow me to keep my cables buttoned up when not in use. They are the size I was looking for to fit in my HF case perfectly. Thanks again for the idea!

  7. Two years later and another friend recommended C.J. Box -- I listened to "Open Season" (#1 in the Pickett series) and I couldn't put it down! Thanks to @mossemi and @topgun2 for the mentions here. It was great fun especially given my time spent in Wyoming this summer -- I recognized (and had visited) most of the places mentioned!

  8. I don't really know. Mine does not have a cutout. It has the shield like on the left pic. I have a custom exhaust and the cutout did not work for me. I just went through the shop by truck option and it only gives me the commercial option. I am not sure if they called it that when I bought mine. I really do not recall. Mine looks just like the one they call commercial. https://www.agricover.com/mud-flaps/results/

  9. Hey John, It has solid reviews and will be easier to stow the cable than my present reel. Please up if this works with your tripod mount. Thanks!

  10. And if this doesn't work, there's one more thing you can try before I would recommend calling in a mobile mechanic to diagnose it for you- disconnect your blue wire from the 7 pin connector and run a new temporary one to the load (brake) side of the emergency disconnect switch. You know the wiring from the disconnect switch is good since your brakes work when the pin is pulled. If the brakes then work you know the problem is between the 7pin and where the blue wire is spliced to the disconnect switch wire.

  11. Signed up for the Standby Mode Plan this morning. The Roam 50-GB plan that was on ‘pause’ can easily be reinstated when the time comes to resume that service. With SLM in Standby Mode, while parked in the home driveway and on the Savana’s dash, had cell phone Wi-Fi and when arriving at the COW Barn both my Victron Cerbo and Cielo Breez Max devices also connected. Liking this new service option!

  12. If you ever need another surprise, look for the 120V outlet for the refrigerator and I’ll bet a cup of coffee it is a metal outlet box as well. The good news is that you won’t find a broken blue outlet box! Mossey

  13. With DC systems, 9 times out of ten the issue is with the ground wire(s). Not always, but after 50+ years of working on cars and other things with DC power - this advice has served me well.

  14. @Ronbrink I will warn you about opening that can of worms, if you think working under the beds or the dinette seats is hard on your back, just wait until you pull the vanity door off. Mossey

  15. Ron, you mean Demonic Penguin? 😄 That’s what I use to call that loud jet engine…lol. Sold my old Demonic to a guy with a food truck for $600 after hauling it back from Oliver post Truma install.

  16. I agree, but am compelled to add: "And, how much risk you are comfortable taking." We use an Anderson WDH because the owners manual for our 2019 Tundra tow vehicle requires a WDH when towing over 5K lbs. This requirement is not enforced by police, but by insurance companies and courts should you ever be involved in a traffic accident while towing. As a retired attorney whose practice included defense of serious accident cases, I consider the Anderson WDH "cheap insurance" against the risk that I will be found at fault because I ignored Toyota's WDH requirement.

  17. If you are asking that of me, yes. I, my husband, and a friend did the swapout from a 2008 dometic (very heavy) to the smaller Houghton 9500 btu in an afternoon. As far as I know, four or five of us have swapped for Houghton unuts,,and we've all done it ourselves. Any good rv shop could do it, if the would tackle it. Not difficult. The most difficult part for us was getting the very heavy old Dometic off the roof, safely. Second most difficult, getting the new Houghton unit on the roof, safely. The rest was pretty easy. Thank goodness for younger friends, good ladders, and safety ropes.

  18. Designing for resale could be an interesting topic for conversation. Seems better to build or modify for my use and realize that if I like it, someone else probably will too. I don't want to build my home for someone I'll never meet, I want to build it for me and my family. I enjoy seeing the creative modifications others are making on their Ollies. Some of those ideas might make into production or into my Elite ll.
