  1. In response to another Elite II owner's request for graphics files for the "old" side decals I happened to be with Matt Duncan when we went on a search for these files. Matt thought that he knew exactly where they were housed - both on the original computer main hard drive and the USB memory stick backup of that hard drive. Unfortunately, BOTH of the file folders for both the USB and hard drive had been erased and replaced by other files. We tried to re-constitute these deleted files without success (after about two hours of trying). Given the nature of the files that replaced the original graphics files, it would appear to me that a somewhat inexperienced employee had done the deed. And, since the "marketing/advertising/video production/rally organizing/printing/etc." department for the travel trailers basically has no full time employees (at this point) there simply wasn't anyone there to watch the "store" or computers or files. Yes, it would be nice to think that files of this and other natures would be housed securely, but, its not exactly easy to get into the area where these files were located. Now, having said all this - I would think that the artwork for the "nose" and "tail" just might still be around. As I recall, during our search for the "side" decals there was/is still a file or two with the "Oliver Elite II" artwork for the various different font types that have been over the years. I will ask and see if they can be found and report back here. This might take a bit of time, so, please be patient. EDIT: Any additional information that I obtain will be posted under a new thread such that we don't hijack this thread any longer on this topic. Bill p.s. Basically during the search for these side decals and for the hull number plaques is how we discovered that the side decals files had been lost. Also, there were/are only a handful of people that were familiar with all the things that went on in Matt's old department. So, its not surprising (at least to me) that information about these types of things would be somewhat limited.

  2. I have a Houghton that I installed and experienced the problem with the humidity. At the time I had not heard about the Cielo workaround but I did read on this forum about installing a relay to control the fan and the need to disconnect the existing temperature sensor and add a new one with a longer lead. I mounted that by the factory installed thermostat. This cured all my problems. I know this doesn't answer your question about the Cielo workaround with a Houghton but since I'm part of the Oliver Universe and own a Houghton AC I wanted to reply.

  8. We counted 45 Olivers camped this morning. What follows are pictures of each campsite, as well as a video showing folks at the Monday meet & greet. We'll start with the video, then post a few pictures at a time. Others, please post your pictures too. Monday Meet & Greet.MOV

  9. First of all, credit to the Oliver owner that shared the installation of these on his screen door, great idea and product recommendation! I finally got around to adding a push bar to our screen door for ease in exiting and closing, and also resolved an ingress problem, as well. Although both installations offer support, my decision to mount one on the closet door as a grab handle when entering to help pull one’s self up and in, proved especially beneficial! Also, each can be used as a towel or clothing rack. Respective modifications were made for custom fitment, here’s a look at the final outcome:

  10. Yep - these used to be produced "in house" on a really neat machine. In fact, there is still some unused material that was used in the loft above the Sales area. I wouldn't be surprised that if someone were to make Oliver an offer for this material they would be more than happy to get rid of it (suggest sending Jason Essary a note if your interested). When the decision was made to stop producing the side decals (basically at the suggestion of current owners) much of the materials used were not replaced and the few people that knew how to use that fancy machine went on to other things. Since I've not actually seen the machine is a couple of years, I'm not sure that it still there. Bill

  11. I believe it's a Scandvik. On ours the screw-on part cracked, likely from over-tightening. This is s good replacement: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AJVE86M/

  12. Add TOSOT to the list, SDG and some Leisure Travel Van owners routinely install them with the Cielo.

  13. What's needed is a list of all AC units that are compatible with the Cielo. Might help entice those having humidity issues to give it a try. We know it works with the Atmos 4.4, and the Turbro/Pioneer units, but has anyone else tried using one with any of the other brands/models? I wonder if Cielo has a compatibility list?

  15. Definitely not strong enough to do pull ups! I first considered thru-bolts, but instead decided the heaviest and longest coarse thread SS screws would suffice. The door is thicker on the hinge side where 3/4” screws were used, 5/8” screws on the other side. Most of the force is lateral rather than vertical, and the screws are tightly set in the door’s outer fiberglass shell. Given the applied force, I have no concerns whatsoever! However, if ever the need for better reinforcement then said bolts will be used.

  16. As with anything else, I'm sure that there are some zerks that are better made (materials, craftsmanship, etc.) than others. However, given the relatively simple design and purpose of these things, I've never given the cost of a zerk or where or how its made much thought. Heck, you can buy as many of these little things as you most likely could ever use for much less than $50. Having said this - I would strongly suggest that for any new zerks and/or even old zerks, the usage of protective caps over the zerks helps keep them cleaner and less likely to get "plugged" by keep most dirt out of that little spring loaded ball that is in the end of the zerk. 17. Dubbed "The Flying Sea Turtle" by my wonderful wife in summer of 2016. By next Summers camping season we will have had 10 years with her. Truly a unique Oliver for both the Logo... (many people remember the Turtle) and the unique stripes that no other Oliver has. They were a test pilot by Oliver but they decided to stay with the original "swoosh" design. I have to say I am still very proud to own her. See you on the road! Scotty

  18. Boudicca -- the name given to a beloved dog of mine, because she fiercely stood her ground as a small pup against a much larger dog of mine (he weighed 110 pounds). Boudicca (or Boadicea) was Queen of the Iceni, a Celtic tribe in eastern Britain. She led a major uprising against Roman rule around 60 AD -- this was after the Romans ignored the King's will, seized the lands of the Iceni, and enslaved the people; personally, Boudicca was flogged and her daughters were abused by the Romans, so she sought vengeance. She brought several tribes together, they numbered tens of thousands, and they waged war. Though they killed 70,000 to 80,000 Romans, Boudicca's army ultimately lost due to lack of training, tactics and the advantage of terrain. Though her name is Boudicca, I usually refer to her as "my Ollie".

  19. Since our Oliver was a one sided purchase, she still prefers the Hampton Inn and I have been in 'the dog house' ever since. My real reason for an Oliver was so we could travel with our dogs! Mossey

  20. I think it is - “the trailer”. Not really a formal name. We also call the truck, “the truck”. Sometimes our imagination just runs wild.

  21. Curiosity- Steve and Deb from northern Ohio Copy/pasted from my “Meet Curiosity” thread: Paul Harvey mode on: “And now, for the rest of the story!” The inspiration for the came from a video by the “From She To Me” YouTube channel, which is the travels of a couple our age in their class B van. The voiceover for a recent trip was “Every one of our journeys begin with curiosity. What will we discover? What challenges might we encounter? What will be the lessons we learn?” I paused, replayed that scene, and paused again. Epiphany moment! I turned to Deb and asked how “Curiosity” sounds for a name for our new Oliver, and she was all for it. Then I looked at various images for graphics inspiration. I saw the corporate logo for Curiosity Software Ireland, and thought I’d fiddle with something along those lines. On a whim, I wrote to them asking permission to use their logo. Surprisingly, not only did they approve, but enthusiastically so, offering original graphics files and their endorsement. They plan to tell our story on their social media blog. Crazy how both events happened!!

  23. I’m late in joining this discussion, but wanted to answer your original question, @Boonter Jeff. We purchased a one-year old 2023 Sequoia early last year. Almost immediately I completely removed the 3rd row of seats, meaning we now have more room in the back, and less weight (~ about 100 lbs., if I remember correctly). We find the front seats quite a bit more comfortable than our Highlander had, and we greatly appreciate the torque/power. The gas mileage when towing, however, normally hovers around 14 mpg. We find we have more than enough storage space in the Sequoia when we are towing. Barb in Colorado

  24. You would think and they certainly should be available! I'm wanting to get the exterior of our hull looking good again! I guess I can add custom artwork like many have done but I like to restore vehicles back to factory stock condition. I was told exactly this: "The graphics are not available. A sign shop or graphic shop should be able to take a photo and recreate the graphics; I do not have a file that I can send you." I questioned this answer, to no avail. So I'm supposed to take a picture of my 10-year-old faded graphic, missing sections have peeled off, and somehow create new artwork! If anybody has Oliver artwork files for the front logo and rear-side label "Oliver Legacy Elite II" I would greatly appreciate it.

  25. I was told by one Oliver owner, at the Texas 2024 Rally, that his wife insisted their Dometic Penguin II ran on, with fan ON, running all night (this model in Auto mode will turn the fan on-&-off with the compressor). Reason was, she would wake when it turned back on. Good for her, since we with our windows open had to hear their A/C all night long (and all day for that matter)!
