BackofBeyond
We all have gadgets, gizmos, and things we use often but forget how handy they can be: for off grid my two favorites are: the handy dandy German Military surplus " trinkwasser" water carrier And my Arb. Can't beat it for all the extra fluids and overflow. It runs of DC when moving and off grid, AC when on shore power. It will freeze if set that way or cool too your designated temperature. Sips power like a gentle hummingbird. What are yours?? 2 Cindy, Russell and "Harley dog" . Moderators SeaDawg Posted June 17, 2021 Moderators Share Posted June 17, 2021 My favorite gizmos, in no particular order. Rooftop solar, plus home made "portable solar", from cheap Coleman panels. My conical shape tea kettle, plus pourover coffee cone. At our camping property, the $100 ecotemp shower/water heater. Has worked for 13 seasons, with one small part replacement. This year's fave, as we are camping a lot on our property, this year, a redneck deck from reused dock boards, and pt stringers, in three sections. 8 x 12 in total. Keeps our feet dry in the rain. Will make a great tent platform someday . 5 gallon stackable water jugs, bought many years ago. 4 2008 Ram 1500 4 × 4 2008 Oliver Elite, Hull #12 Florida and Western North Carolina, or wherever the truck goes.... 400 watts solar. DC compressor fridge. No inverter. 2 x 105 ah agm batteries . Life is good.
Mcb
I’ve been pondering this question since it appeared. While not entirely clear on what qualifies as a gizmo, I’m pretty sure I’ve got a fair number of them. Still, it’s hard to pick a favorite.. But while replacing my very tired old Milwaukee Cordless wet/dry vac today I realized that this is my favorite gizmo.. for the truck, the camper, for dealing with disasters like the time I sort of flooded the Casita years ago… 4 Mark & Deb..2020 Elite II..Dearie..Hull #685..2016 Tundra

Nancy K.
You do realize that the title of your post has now embedded the song from The Little Mermaid in my brain... My latest handmade gizmo is a fabric holder for grocery bags/trash bags. The opening at the top is larger than the one at the bottom. It hangs from a command hook placed high up on the left wall of the main closet. 3 "Creativity is the fun of putting together unexpected ideas." Overland
This screwdriver. I think it's the perfect utility drawer screwdriver that will cover 90% of your needs - for when you don't want to go dig out the toolbox. Compact, but pops out to a usable length, and has a good selection of quality German bits, which lock in place so they don't fall out. I keep one in the trailer, one in the center console of the truck, and one in the junk drawer at the house. 1 4

Steve-Gwenne
A favorite gizmo?? I love gizmo's & can always get distracted by anything with 'gizmo' in the title. I do like our trash holder. It holds a plastic bag by pulling down the black things. I have it in the closet, on the left, with a plastic bag holder above it. I have a collapsible kettle & mini coffee bean grinder, for pour-over coffee. 2 SGC & GRC Hull 224 [2017] 2017 GMC Sierra HD Crew Cab Diesel

Mainiac
Another favorite gizmo: a magnetic whiteboard calendar (CVS $7.99). Mounted on the closet door with Command strips. All pertaining info is written there. Also local reservation paperwork is held there. That gives local emergency numbers, as well as CG info (usually). 2

Lol, it took me a minute to figure out what you were talking about…yup, I like hammers. Depending on what I was doing with it, any of the four with wooden handles in the upper left were my favorite.. They were made by an outfit named Douglas Hammers… I’m not sure they are still around.. somewhere on this forum there was a thread about stakes for tying down awnings (I think) and one of the suggested products came with a really cool looking hammer which I may need to pick up sometime… I bet Overland got one… or maybe two.. 1 Mark & Deb..2020 Elite II..Dearie..Hull #685..2016 Tundra

Moderators Mike and Carol Posted July 30, 2021 Moderators Share Posted July 30, 2021 Hammers are good. I got this short sledge at Home Depot. Works great for pounding stakes for the awning and Clam.
