Agree 100%. We routinely see empty campsites with reserved cards on the site. It’s inconsiderate. My brother owns a restaurant here in Boerne, TX. He had reservations for 290 people for last nights Valentine’s Day dinner. Steak and Lobster. 184 showed up. One customer bragged to my brother that he made reservations at 4 restaurants in town and decided on his. My brother asked if he canceled the other reservations and he said, NO! Why would he do that? My brother explained that he was turning people away who didn’t have a reservation and he had ordered food for all who reserved, so not canceling was totally inconsiderate. Maybe restaurants should require a deposit for reservations. Maybe campgrounds should charge a penalty for not showing up with no notification. How hard is it to make a call? Mike8 points

If he has any of that food left, we could be there by tomorrow evening and help him out with it.3 points

We will be in E21 for the rally. We love music but my talent ends at sitting around listening lol.2 points

That’s where we stopped on our way home. It was 80 here today but will be much cooler and windy tomorrow. You’re bringing us cold weather!2 points

I’m sure he’ll be having a steak and lobster special for a few evenings. Since he’s next door we would probably get some on Sunday but we’ll be out camping!2 points

I have been out camping in NM, SoCal and AZ since mid-Dec. Observations are as follows: AZ -While State Park campsite reservation systems have often shown no spots available, up to 1/3 of the campsites remain empty. Talking to camp hosts at several of the campgrounds they blame people who make reservations, pay and then don’t show. So no spots available but many spots empty. Frustrating! NM -State Park campgrounds continue to fill up in improved campgrounds with hookups. Where available, room remains in campsites without hookups -the “reserve, then no-show” behavior noticed in AZ does not appear to be impacting NM State Park campgrounds ability to fill the improved campsites SoCal -had no issues finding campsites in FCFS areas within Joshua Tree -had no issues finding campsites with hookups or without hookups along the I10 corridor General observation: AZ and NM seem to be about as busy as they were during the 2020/21 and 2021/22 Winter seasons. Even though the Canadians are back in full force, there does not seem to be a overload at State Park campgrounds or boondocking/BLM areas (including Quartzsite). This tells me that more people are parking their RVs and not coming out to camp this Winter. I just wish they would cancel their reservations so the rest of us can use the sites that sit empty.2 points

Just an FYI for some. We tow with a 2014 F150 Crew Cab with 6.5ft bed with the 3.5L Eco Boost. We have the max towing package and heavy duty payload package. The Max payload for our is just over 1800lbs. I think I was pretty close to that when we left Ohio to pick up our Oliver last July..lol. We have the Anderson and the Oliver tows great. Towing we get about 12 mpg, alittle better on the back roads. Without towing around 17 here in the only hills in Ohio. I have had zero problems with the 3.5 so far. Not sure the life expectancy of that engine but so far so good. It will be more expensive to fix than the V8 but I hope I dont have to find that out. We plan to start taking longer trips (multiple weeks) in the next year or two so I will probably be looking to upgrade myself. Currently the TV has just over 152K miles but runs like a champ. My decision is go with newer F150 or move up to 3/4 and then of course gas vs diesel. If you research this there has to be hundreds of articles or videos on that alone. As many has said "comes down to personal preference and planned usage"1 point

It’s been a very cost effective addition, tough and waterproof.1 point

Another good option is to remove storage basket and install a box like Mike & Carol. Storage Tray1 point

I have 4 Rubbermaid Action packers that were purchased new, and first put into service in 2018 with our Sylvan Sport Go. They have never been water proof, and I did not buy them with that as a goal. I use one with my Elite II storage box for items that can wet. I would also like to know of a waterproof option, since none of mine seal enough to be considered even water resistant.1 point

Good to remember that Meghan plays "All About That Bass" on the Ukulele! I'll reach out to Matt and see what we can arrange. Maybe we'll get lucky on that beer this time. Scotty1 point

We might be able to help with bass and guitar, not professionals but like to have fun :) John1 point

I use the same Rubbermaid container to carry my Honda generator in the back of our SUV. I have never used it in the front basket because I don’t carry anything of value there. I have never tested it in the rain, but it does keep the gasoline fumes contained. You could always put some silicone or rubber edge trim around the top lip of the tub to create a gasket. OK... thinking Friday night around 6pm at the Beach Pavilion. BYOC and BYOB. I'll put together a list of about 10 popular songs that people know the words to. Or, maybe have handouts with just the words so folks can sing along. I'll post a google drive location that people who play instruments can download the charts from . After the singalong, we can have a signup sheet for an Open (no) Mic, and folks can perform for us. Simple and easy. Who do I have to sweet talk to schedule the Beach Pavillion? Scotty1 point

That article is not a general "camping" article, it is about dealer inventory and commercial RV parks. I haven't been out since late last October, but I saw no sign of large numbers of empty campsites in the state parks and forests around here... tho in the off season (October and on) the parks do have vacancies mid-week, but certainly not on the weekend. Yes the dealer lots are once again full. Maybe people are finally getting fed up with the outrageously high cost of parking your trailer cheek and jowl with 100 other trailers, just so you can plug in. 😉 John Davies Spokane WA1 point

We tow our Elite at max trailer towing speed, on the interstate, and secondary highways. And, max tire speed. We don't get carried away, but with a 5.7 hemi towing a little Elite, we don't sit in the slow lane, all the time, either. Best tow speed is where you are comfortable, imo.1 point
