  1. Yesterday I had the Alcan 5 leaf pack installed at Alcan. This morning I decided to crawl under XPLOR for a closer look and check the torque on my 16 of my 9/16 Ubolts torque setting on the high nuts juuuuust to satisfy my OCD. I found in the short trip back to the our base camp (only 9 miles) from Alcan the Ubolts definitely required retorquing. Each of the (16) high nuts needed at least 1-2 full rotations to bring them into a torque spec per Alcan of 90’lbs. I am glad I checked these high nut fasteners as it is clear that the new Ubolts will stretch in a very short period of travel. This is why Alcan repeatedly recommends you check the torque on the high nuts and wetbolts. I will check again at the required interval of 50//50/500 mile mark. Passing this forward! Happy and Safe Travels All from Grand Junction, CO! You will need a 3/4” deep well socket which can be purchased alacarte at a local HF store.

  2. This morning we had the 5 leaf pack installed on Hull #634 XPLOR at the Alcan shop here in Grand Junction, CO. We had an excellent experience from start to finish. We opted for the upgraded heavier duty wet bolts, nyloc nuts, Alcan HD 2 1/2” shackles. Our Monroe shocks are still in good shape with less than 2500 miles on them. Over all very happy with the work performed by Tucker at Alcan, he has installed the custom 5 leaf pack on a number of Olivers. Lew the owner was excellent to deal with and explained everything in detail. If you have questions about the install, parts or pricing, give Lew a call. Now we can get on with our trip to Utah, Wyoming and maybe Montana. Onward & Safe Travels! Drop off early morning - yes we hit the loves to top off with diesel, saving 76 cents per gallon with our TDS Open Roads Fleet card. We love LOVES. Ha! Thanking Lew 2.5 hrs later after the new leaf packs were installed. Gotta have a little swag.. Decal swag - Optional upgraded wet bolts. Torque specs -

  3. Thanks! 👍🏻😊 I like the 2 1/2” HD shackles. In fact I like just about everything HD or over engineered. Glad I got this spring/shackle upgrade completed.✅ The Team at Alcan are top shelf!

  4. We were in Hohenwald this week and saw some new products made by SEA BISCUIT METAL DESIGNS on display in the Oliver showroom. One product caught our attention, so we decide to visit Johnson City. The rear basket carrier and storage boxes are very well crafted. We already have the OEM rear bumper receiver option so installation was simplified. Since we weren't using the bumper receiver on this trip, we replaced one for the other. We're very pleased with the quality and the design. The lockable boxes increase the secure outside storage, and they're easily removed from the basket in case we want to use it to carry odd shaped/sized cargo. We went with two separate storage boxes, but they also have a larger single "coffin" box that spans the width of the basket. The low profile doesn't cover the original license plate location, so no need to move the plate and rewire its light. The CNC cut "Oliver" name on the carrier is also a nice touch.

  5. Give David Hess a call he and his wife Kristine are the owners of SeaBiscuit. They are fine folks and they will get you set up with exactly what you need. https://seabiscuitmetaldesigns.com/product-category/oliver-travel-trailer-accessories/ As for weight limit, the good folks at Oliver may provide guidance on that. Naturally a caution flag on any excessive weight which could really impact the overall handling of the trailer under way on the super slab. Made in the USA.🇺🇸

  6. Glad to see he used the 2 1/2 in shackles. Now, I am not the only one. 🙂 Great post. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

  7. Oliver did ours and I checked the bolts on our way to East Tennessee at about 70 miles and then at about 120 miles. Final check was when we got home, a couple thousand miles. Each time some tightening was required. Not much on the final. I’ll probably check again before our next trip (Inks Lake Oliver Rally). Mike

  8. I did this upgrade first and by itself. Made a shorty cable and just mounted it at the batteries. You also need to connect the red wire to positive, so simple. When I upgraded to LFP and new inverter, I mounted the shunt at the other end of the B- battery cable closest to the inverter to get it out of the battery bay.

  9. @jd1923 I installed a Victron SmartShunt along with the LFP upgrade to the Oliver, as well as one in my portable power station, which has dedicated solar. The VictronConnect app is a great tool for monitoring our DC systems!

  11. I only torqued the Ubolts this morning. @500 mile mark check Spring wet bolts, they should be good with the HD nyloc nuts. Alcan will provide a very detailed work sheet when you have the springs installed. 👍🏻

  13. The On/Off feature of my Freedom X remote stopped working several months ago, maybe even longer but just didn’t notice. Last month I bought a new replacement on Amazon and attempted the pairing procedure upon install, but the new unit didn’t resolve the issue so it was returned. I have in the past and am currently now leaving the Xantrex turned On full time by way of the units power control button. From all I have read, there is no problem leaving it On, other than the continual draw on the battery(ies) when not connected to shore power. The only downside when on shore power, if the power is lost one may not be aware of a switch to DC and find a low battery situation.

  16. Hello Snackchaser, You were spot on with your advise. It was indeed a polarity issue and I verified that by switching around the pos/neg at the Victron. I have now ordered the 5.5mm to SAE that corrects the polarity issue. Love the Starlink Mini. Thanks again. Tim

  17. Yes, the basket and boxes are sold separately. If you don't already have the dual receivers for the OEM bumper hitch, then you'd have to get those too. The basket is very solidly mounted. There is no free-play.

  18. If you want a comfortable ride do not go with a 3500 and avoid the camper/snowplow package. There is a big difference in ride quality as the capacities increase.

  19. The inverter breaker is under the street side bed, at the front (battery box wall). The sequence is as follows: Turn off solar. Trip the inverter breaker, then turn off your Lithium batteries. To turn back on reverse order. You don't want to put loads on the inverter by turning a battery off or on, one at a time with the inverter on. Again, 1. Turn off solar 2. Turn off inverter at breaker 3. Turn off batteries This information was provided by Oliver, and confirmed by Lithonics. Our winter storage needed a conversation with Lithonics.

  20. IMPORTANT TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUE Potential Internal Battery BMS Damage MODELS IMPACTED 2021 – 2022 Oliver Legacy Elite II models equipped with (3) Lithionics Lithium 130AH Batteries & Xantrex 3000W Inverter INFORMATION Oliver Travel Trailers was alerted that under certain conditions the Lithionics internal BMS could be damaged if the full load for inrush amperage to the inverter is loaded on a single battery. RESOLUTION Owners with impacted year models should follow the Lithionics approved method for the proper restart/reboot sequence of the batteries and inverter to ensure all batteries are ON before turning the inverter ON. NOTE: The inverter is also a charger and when it powers up while connected to shore power this is utilizing the charger side. The above referenced potential condition exists only when the inverter side is turned ON. PROPER RESTART/REBOOT SEQUENCE If the inverter is OFF, drained or has entered (LBCO) Low Battery Cut Off and any or all of the batteries are OFF (no LED light on battery), then the following procedure should be followed: 1. ENSURE THAT THE INVERTER IS TURNED OFF 2. UNDER THE STREET SIDE BED ACCESS PANEL, SWITCH THE INVERTER CIRCUIT BREAKER TO THE OFF POSITION. PRESS THE RED BUTTON Note: This will cause a communication issue for the inverter remote display and requires a proper restart sequence to ensure proper communication between the inverter and remote display. (Error 20) 3. TURN ALL BATTERIES ON 4. SWITCH INVERTER CIRCUIT BREAKER TO THE ON POSITION. PRESS THE LEG BACK INTO POSITION 5. TURN THE INVERTER ON AT THE INVERTER 6. VERIFY COMMUNICATION SOFTWARE HAS LOADED: U3 01 06 A. PRESS THE UP/BATTERY BUTTON TO SCROLL THROUGH 7. TURN THE INVERTER OFF AT THE INVERTER 8.
