  2. I agree about the Blackstone. We have two and like them. I also like my Weber Q1000, 10 years old and works great. I removed the regulator so it goes on the Oliver quick connect. I don’t think there were any warranty issues doing that. In fact, many dealers sell kits with the parts needed for the regulator removal and quick connect installation. Mike

  3. Fortunately we have not experienced any issues with our Truma Aqua go in our 5 years of ownership since our delivery in March of 2020. I am glad Truma and Oliver are addressing this recall as quickly as the supply chain allows. Whether in or out of warranty it’s my understanding this repair free of charge if you own a serial numbered recalled unit. I have not read or heard of any Oliver’s or other RVs equipped with the Truma Aqua Go burning down. Jason B at Oliver Service told me the repair/swap out of the burner takes approximately 40-45 min. Great pics/vid and solid write up @Galway Girl. An open source article worthy of reading - https://www.rvtravel.com/oliver-travel-trailers-with-faulty-water-heaters-recalled/

  4. Buy whatever stove you want and just remove the regulator from it. Replace it with a male quick connect and you're good to go.

  5. That was our FIRST Problem. If you go back to all the various Truma postings...you'll find the first one we posted was all about that loose fitting. Truma Factory had us return our unit to them and they discovered their production line tools had the wrong torque setting for that coupler...and that it backed off from vibration over time. The SECOND issue is the one that caused the Oliver Recall, non-crimped burner tubes. The symptoms are 'very similar' in that both cause a build up of gas that ignites with a whoosh / thump and then blows out the burner....it keeps trying and occasionally it starts and runs. In the picture below are 4 different photos from different posts we've made. First - What the raw gas ignition looks like for both issues: Still Pix of Burner Flare due to either: Loose Coupler --- or --- Disconnected burner tubes Movie showing ignition when too much gas is in the chamber. IMG_6925.mov A photo of the culprit coupler - Our Coupler Issue - A movie showing the loose coupler could be turned easily with fingers....not tight at all. IMG_7603.MOV Second - Our Burners Rattle Loose Issue Third - The NEW ASSEMBLY that we are having installed today at a repair center. I'm going to check with Oliver and Truma to see if either can send us a new exterior door for the water heater, as ours had partially melted due to flames of these events. 6. One of the last ā€˜must have’ transitions from the former TV to the Savana is the DC-DC charging cable setup and rear-mounted Anderson connection. The full length 4 AWG dedicated cables running from battery to rear bumper off the Silverado required no alteration with this retrofit. Admittedly said cables, rear bumper connection, a solenoid and ANL 60/fuse box were installed a few months ago, but activation was delayed pending install of the Mechman 320A alternator. The solenoid serves to energize the cable connection via a fuse tap trigger wire from the under hood fuse box and thus, requiring keyed power ignition for use as a precautionary measure. Current fuse taps include the solenoid trigger wire, as well as one for the alternator and Air Lift power. Solenoid and ANL fuse locations. Rear bumper-mounted Anderson connection with Environmental Boot. Now that the Savana is readied for towing and other operational needs, there are a couple of other ā€˜wants’ in sight; van rooftop solar for the portable power station that runs my Dometic CFX3 75DZ, and custom swing away racks for my two Wavian Jerry Cans and spare 30# propane tank. Stayed tuned!

  7. Our Beast of Burden gets a new tail hook ha! After doing a bit of a deep dive I decided to order up a new weigh safe aluminum 10ā€ drop hitch with a 3ā€ shank. I have been using 2 reducers and have never been a fan of them as they are a bit sloppy and noisy or simply too many moving parts. I have to say out of the box I am really impressed with how solid this hitch is engineered. Really well done. I opted to not go with the tongue hitch weight dial. According to quite a few user reviews, these dials use a rubber seal/oring and at times can fail and then require maintenance by replacing the seal. When the O ring fails you will notice fluid leaking from the hitch šŸ‘ŽšŸ». Just not something I ever want to think about….ever especially on a long trip. I did opt in for the stainless steel 2ā€ and 2 5/16 balls vs chrome plated hitch balls and locking hitch pic all keyed alike . B&W tow and stow is also a good hitch which I was also considering. My preference has always been aluminum as rust and corrosion will eventually take its toll on steel powder coats so I passed. There is very little play with the new Weigh Safe 180 3ā€ shank. That said, I did order this 3ā€ anti rattle hitch clamp to keep everything buttoned up with zero play. Edit- I ordered my hitch clamp directly their website. Quick shipping and excellent communication. https://www.hitchclamp.com/collections/3-clamps My reducers will no longer be used when towing XPLOR.

  8. thank you Those are really popular, But our cooking style is better suited by a portable 2 burner table top or even a single burner table top for using pots and pans .

  10. thanks. FYI, in my 1 step forward, 2 steps backwards Battery/Inverter upgrade, my BatteryCablesUSA battery cables arrived to add the 3rd battery and bus block, Fuse block, and off switch. I now know 4AWG is NOT 4/0 AWG. Will know at 9am today if they can ship all the 4/0 cables to me in time for me to install before we leave for Guntersville.

  12. I quickly threw together a little shelf for travel books and maps that fits under the dinette table. I didn't put a whole lot of thought or effort into it. I just made it out of scrap wood as a prototype, but it seems to work better than I thought it would. Im sure its been done before but I thought I would mention it. IMG_0248.HEIC

  13. Our 16 year old Dometic is still going strong too. As long as I start it up 24 hours before leaving on a trip the temps stay in the 30's the whole time no matter the conditions. Adding external fans really helped and I have no idea why they weren't standard equipment.

  14. Dead Horse Ranch SP has been very nice. Great access to all sorts of hikes . Quiet, family friendly and clean. In addition, quite a few fiberglass trailers in the park. Including our first meeting with another Ollie in the wild. Shout out to Mark, Lorraine and River! Well met and happy trails. Special mention to Red Rock SP. Small, quiet but oh so wonderful. Next stop Grand Canyon!

  15. Looks like you decided on LiTime LFPs, if so good decision! This was my final configuration, also to include a Victron SmartShunt and ANL 250-Amp fuse.

  16. @Dennis and Melissa Just a thought --- you have 7 nights planned at Dead Horse SP to visit Canyonlands and Arches. Both are amazing and Dead Horse is the best reserve campground for visiting Canyonlands and not too far from Arches. It's a good plan but one suggestion I might make is to use the app Campflare and see if a cancelation might pop up for Devil's Garden Campground inside Arches NP. Devil's Garden may be the most difficult to get campground in all of the national parks. It books up within seconds of the 6 month booking window. It does not have hookups, however. I put a notification request in Campflare last fall and scored a cancelation with a few weeks notice -- they do happen. If you were to score a site at Devil's Garden, it puts you deep inside the park in one of the most spectacular areas of scenery with a couple of the best hikes starting right from the campground. You wake up with an unbelievable sunrise right there. The photos attached are of the campground. The arch photo at sunrise is 100 yards from the campground (you can see RVs in the distance on left side of the photo). Dead Horse SP is very nice and centrally located but the campground is kinda out in the middle of sagebrush and you have to drive to get to hikes and views. Already being inside the park camping at Devils Garden means your're already there -- avoiding the lines at park entry and you are already there for the most awesome time in the park which is sunset/early mornings and late evening/sunset. Regardless, my biggest suggestion would be to plan on being in both parks early and late. The light is amazing and makes for unforgettable experiences. If you stay the whole time at Dead Horse SP, you will still have an amazing time!

  17. I just wanted to share the absolute amazing experience we had with David and Kristine Hess, Jeff and other team members at Sea Biscuit Metal Designs, Johnson City Tennessee. We had the Oliver rear basket installed today. What great service! David, Kristine and Jeff greeted me, and Jeff got right to work on the installation. The rear basket is extremely well crafted, made with high grade materials and expert craftsmanship. An awesome addition to the Oliver!! For those who do not have the Oliver OEM rear bumper receiver option (like us), no problem as Sea Biscuit will provide the hardware necessary to mount the rear basket. Now what happened next is service I have never experienced before! Long story short, after all the hugs from Kristine and David, (yes they love meeting and hanging out with their customers!) I hooked up the trailer, did all my checks, put the tv in drive and as I slowly took off I felt some resistance. Must be the emergency brake I thought, well, turned out I forgot to raise the tongue jack! Yes, I know, I guess I was just so impressed and excited about the new basket, and the excellent service that I forgot about the jack! I usually use 6ā€x6ā€ blocks on all the jacks for 2 reasons, to avoid extending the jacks too much, and secondly for this exact reason, ie if for whatever stupid reason I forget to raise the jacks they will just slide of the blocks. Needless to say, the tongue jack inside shaft was bent backwards approximately 45° and buckled. Anyway, that’s when David, Jeff and team jumped in, Dave cut off approx. 4ā€ where the shaft was bent/buckled, aligned the 2 straight pieces then welded them back together. This was shortly before noon, so the team worked into their lunch hour and David had to push out another appointment! I obviously offered compensation, but David refused! I cannot express my gratitude enough to David, Jeff and team! Sea Biscuit is a great company and David, Kristine and their crew are awesome people!!! Thank you so much again!

  18. My 3ā€ hitch clamp arrived today. I decided to cancel my order with Amazon and order directly from Hitch Clamp for a much quicker delivery. Very impressed with the fit and finish of this product. Zero play or movement with this robust clamp. They also gave me a Veterans discount. šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øšŸ‘šŸ» https://www.hitchclamp.com/collections/3-clamps
