I generally prefer working on my own vehicles (and home) vs. contracting trades. However, the reasonable amount Alcan charges for labor is well worth it! This is not as easy as it looks! 🤣 Both axles are in today. Torque the wet bolts and brake wiring yet to do. Friday I have new E-Z Flex equalizers coming.7 points

Ollie in the wild! While making our way up to New England to enjoy the fall weather we landed a gem of a CG staying 6 nights at Stoney Fork Federal CG in the Jefferson National Forest. This is CG located near Wytheville, Va. We paid $16 per night electric only with my America the beautiful pass. This is a small CG with only 50 sites most of which are E only sites. We spent time in the Walker Valley and the Big Walker Mountain Lookout Tower. Our lowest temp at night was 46. Incredible sleeping weather and we never used our AC during our entire stay. There is something very special about the beauty Appalachian Mountains. While on a nice hike we found an old foundation with this write up on it. Quite a bit of history on this piece of land. We both enjoy excellent lunches prepared by the Amish women at the Walker Valley Market in Pearisburg, Va and then Burkes Garden, in Tazwell County. Ollie in the wild.. My bride enjoying a nice warm fire. Venison sausage….🤪 from woods to table. 🏹 200 steps to the top of this tower and yes was windy at the top. The beauty to behold at the top.. We won this sign at the 2024 Oliver Rally. Coy Gayle hand crafted it for us. It now travels with us everywhere we go. Thank you Coy for such a fine sign! 🇺🇸 Finally video from the top of the tower. My bride enjoying incredible views of her home state. IMG_3810.mov This is the historical write up we found at the old foundation we discovered on our hike. Rufus was quite the Bear hunter would be an understatement.6 points

Was just at the "mothership" and had a chance to look at a 26. Yes the new windows do give an entirely new look, they also minimize air flow and do diminish the natural light. These same windows and shades were in a prior RV a few years ago and we discovered that you really loose airflow without using the ceiling fan, then you have the added noise. But the biggest issue for me is the shades need to be put in the up position while driving otherwise they get beaten up a bit, and come morning they allow a lot of light in the sides come morning... be prepared if you are sun up wake up kind of person... On a positive note, the accent wall, doesn't look bad and is smooth. The only concern is that you now have a fixed color palette that you will always have to take into consideration... It is a nice touch but doesn't allow a complete color customization as you will have to keep to the grey tones...4 points

The new induction cook top cools off quickly when turned off. This is because the heat is generated directly in the pan and not in the cook top itself. So as soon as the current is turned off the induction cook top will cool off immediately likely allowing for more prep space. I am pretty sure the former LP cook top will is no longer available when ordering a new Oliver. It is likely a whole lot cheaper in the assembly line to simply wire the induction CT and no issue with LP leaks. 🤔 That said, we sure like cooking with our LP! 🔥😊2 points

Yep - there were many things that could be "Optioned" back in the day. But, then we started to "complain" about quality control. So, the solution was to curb options. Bill2 points

Not a fan of wallpaper/texture look on the wall. I've always hated the cheap, dingy wallpaper look on the interior of so many other RVs. Always loved the clean, nautical feel of the bright white fiberglass in the Oliver. Its a double hull fiberglass trailer so embrace that! Leave it to individual owners if they want to cover the fiberglass with something. I'm not sure I like the new windows either, which sure seem to have less airflow. On the plus-side, it does provide rain protection. My trailer is usually my basecamp and I often leave the windows open when I leave for the day's adventure to keep it cooler inside. I worry that if a rainstorm comes up before I return then it can get wet inside the trailer (Colorado is notorious for quick-forming afternooon thundershowers in the summer). I wonder how much more privacy the new windows add with the dark tint? Assume it is significant and the new roller shade is a full shade only? Does the dark tint result in less light transmission and a darker feel inside? I like light-and-bright!2 points

For those members who don’t do FB, here is recent pic of a few 26 YM interior updates from the Oliver FB page. I am seeing the fiber-granite sinks, a vent over the closet door where the pervious speaker use to be mounted. A new Bluetooth speaker, induction cook top, a texture wet bath wall, under cabinet switch lights, a new bath door, and the white belly band. 🇺🇸2 points

Back (in the day) all propane cooktops were oriented with the "back-splash" opening towards the curb-side of the Ollie. However, (as Mossemi states above in about 2017) because we owner's kept asking for the cooktop to be oriented with the back-splash oriented towards the rear of the trailer, the company listened and made the rear facing back-splash the "norm". Some of us said that this not only allowed the back-splash to help deter "splashes" from reaching the bed area but it also increased counter space. In reality, since the area that the cooktop covered didn't actually change, there wasn't any real additional counter space achieved and there was some concern that if a person reached across the cooktop with the front burner lit, there could be a risk of catching a sleeve on fire. With the new convection cooktop there is much less risk of a sleeve catching on fire. However, there will be the need to have pots and pans that are compatible with convection cooking. Bill1 point

I think that beginning in 2017 you had a choice of cooktop orientation. That may still be the case unless the stove prevents it. Mossey1 point

And, basically this grey wall covering is NOT removable. It is applied to the wall prior to installation. At present there is no option for ordering an Ollie without this covering, but, I've heard that there is a continuing discussion about this (and other things) inside the company. Bill1 point

WOW, we now have 50 Olivers represented for this rally. I have updated the list on Google Sheets but have attached an image of this list below. Please make sure you get your BBQ dinner payment in to Paula ( Cleo Ratliff Jr ) as the BBQ has to paid prior to the week of the event and a deposit of $1000 is due Friday (Sept 5). CGI Detailing will be providing t-shirts and if you are interested in getting one, please make sure you have picked the size you desire on the Attendees list as well. Those that have already selected size, please double check your selection, as there have been several folks looking at this list and may have accidently altered your selection. Paula will also be posting an itinerary closer to the event. Remember there will be a meet and greet at the firepit in the Live Oak Loop. There will be door prizes and plan to hold drawings the night of the BBQ for those in attendance.1 point

I saw my first spruce grouse ever this week in Two Medicine GNP. I thought it was a ptarmigan but the ranger corrected me. You see ptarmigan don’t visit that area. He added that the NPS had just finished a study on ptarmigan camouflage in the wild. Of all the adaptations in wildlife, silent p is the most rare. 😁1 point

Yeah, it’s pretty simple. I’m 6 feet tall so I just stand on the Oliver ‘bumper” to attach it. I put it together on the ground and once it is attached I fire it up and let it sort itself out. Once it has figured its position I just reach up and align it.1 point

I also did the POE injector method for powering the Mini. As far as mounting I initially had it on top of my flagpole but the ended up being a problem with the cable and the flags getting bunched up. This is my current method for mounting on the Oliver. It has been working great so far. Links below. No. I have thought of the possibility, but we drain the tank after each trip and sanitize once a year. John1 point

A couple of years ago I secured a small bag of these clips - probably 20 or so. Be happy to send you a couple if that is what you need. Bill PM me with details1 point

Yep, me too which is great. No sense liking what's not goin' to happen! We like our walls and windows and all our necessary corrections and wonderful mods! Our hull is turning 10-years-old this fall. Should have it another 10, or 20, and keep it in the family...1 point

For us, the advantage of double pane isn't temperature control, it's noise reduction. They really do help when the guy with the huge Bluetooth speaker sets up next to you. But the bigger problem for me is that those Lippert windows really don't move much air. We never really felt a breeze in our old trailer. That said, they're better in the rain. For functionality, I'd like to have just one swing out window for use on rainy days. I know some of the other fiberglass trailers do that with the rear window.1 point

I have mixed feelings about them myself. Not sure double pane is that big of a deal after years of use. Disappointed they only open 3 inches. The valance thing looks dorky. Always thought the chrome stuff looked tacky so an improvement with the white trim piece. Love the no maintenance of the windows though. The existing windows on the Oliver have always been the bane of ownership to me. Poorly designed and out of date.1 point

For the convenience of customers and prospective customers alike, we have created a Measurement Index for the Legacy Elite II travel trailer. You may find it on our Oliver University page http://olivertraveltrailers.com/oliver-university/. This will help if you have any questions on measurements throughout the interior and exterior of the travel trailer. Coming soon: Legacy Elite I Measurement Index. Thank you1 point
