Yesterday we left our base camp and took a little road trip north to Eastport, ME and had breakfast. There was a Norwegian cruise ship in port. We were fortunate enough to get to the local dinner before the mass of peeps began streaming off. Eastport is a neat little sea side town and well worth a visit. We then motored on to Calais, Me and briefly checked out the fair on Main Street. Then crossed over the border in Calais and drove to St Andrew’s, New Brunswick, Canada. 🇨🇦 A very cool little town with a really scenic water front. Lots of shops and a lot of restaurants. We spent about half the day there and would go back for sure. Late afternoon we returned back to base camp we were ready for dinner. I cheffed up blackened fresh scallops and bone in pork chops. The weather has been spectacular and the fall colors continue to pop! Eastport, ME. My bride could not resist..😄 The fresh scallops and blackened bone in chops really turned out great. 👨🏼🍳 We always say it’s not fresh seafood unless you can hear the waves crashing. There’s a wide range of “below freezing”. If it’s only down to the high 20s we still rely on our electric space heater (Vornado). I can turn it so that some of the heat is directed into the vent under the bed with the water pump, water tank, etc. We’ve never had anything freeze. I figure if the outer hull is in 27 degree weather and the inner hull is in 68 degree inside weather then between the hulls will be something in between. Below mid 20s we do use the furnace. That’s not been very often since we tend not to camp in very cold weather. Mike3 points

I removed ours when I worked a major overhaul on the steps, sanded down the aluminum and scraped the old tread out to replace with 3M new. Surprising one came lose since ours where in VERY tight. On one side the nut end mushroomed and would not fit into the hole again, so it couldn’t be reused. I just used a standard short bolt same diameter with locknut (not wanting to wait and pay for parts and shipping for such a small item). I have a list of small things like this, that if I ever truly need parts from OTT, I’d get these too. They are nice bolts, how they fit with no threads showing!3 points

These fasteners rely on the strength and having thicknes of the mounting board. I prefer to use Rivet Nuts (AKA RivNuts/Blind Flange Nuts). They have the advantage of expanding on the far side of the connection as well as board strength for pullout. I've found them to be quite strong when the surface being mount to is solid. Would not work on "foam board", but for PVC and metal they are super... at least from my experience.2 points

We had one fall out after a few years. Oliver service replaced it during a service 5 or 6 years ago.2 points

Yes, I prefer the propane furnace in below freezing temps because it adds heat between the shells while maintaining the double hull insulation in the upper half. Once you open all those cabinets and hatches you pretty much negate the whole double hull concept.1 point

Well - As long as you're sure that you will continue to have electricity to run that electric heater AND you open all of the "hatches" to the basement and other areas between the hulls, you should be OK without the propane furnace. If you are in a situation where you need the bed areas and therefore could not open those hatches then you could always use a small fan on low speed in order to move heated air into the space under the beds. Of course, you would also leave the bath door open. Bill1 point

Understood. I know many on this forum have used and had good support from Oliver. It is situations like this that convince me to try to deal with most things on my own (the Truma AquaGo recall for example). I'd rather fix it myself if at all possible and within my skill level, plus it's a learning experience.1 point

As you might remember - We received a notification here on the Forum about a month ago (maybe two) concerning a change in the way parts, service and the production unit all interact. While this is still no excuse for "dropping the ball" (particularly on such a small thing) the internal sorting out of new and different responsibilities just might help explain where and/or how the ball was dropped. Thanks, Mike, I suspect the sheared one came loose some time ago and all those miles we've been racking up caused the shear. Hopefully no damage to an oncoming vehicle. I've never checked them...I thought they were riveted on.1 point

We went with a “cheaper” brand. We have had it a year and so far are very happy with it. I would at least say cheaper is better than nothing at all in the case of a TPMS.1 point

The finishing touch on this project is to install 45-degree angled Zerk fittings! 😎 It's a great solution for ease of access to the fittings (vs. installing the wet-bolts outside-in). Snug them up, just two-finger tight with a short wrench. Don't worry about the resulting angle. Even if it's facing the tire, you will still get a grease gun coupler like this to fit: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H7LPKKU?ref=fed_asin_title&th=1 If you replaced your wet-bolts, purchased the HD shackles and wet-bolt setup from Alcan, the Zerk thread size is 1/4"-28. I purchased this 50-pack, zinc-plated steel like OEM (could not easily find brass or SS in this size). Nice longer threads on this product: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DQBPTK3Y?ref=fed_asin_title&th=1 If you have the Dexter wet-bolts that come with the EZ Flex kit you'll need M6x1mm threads. This is a very nice brass set of 15 (only need 12): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R8GYYYM?ref=fed_asin_title&th=11 point

The rigid "foam" board is what we have in our Hull #1291 manufactured in October, 2022. It may not be apparent in the photo below, but our mounting board is not solid PVC. It has a "foamlike" feel to it, especially on the edge. It feels to me like it is a cross between solid PVC board and foam insulation board. That said, we have had no issues with screws loosening from that board, but we avoid driving on bad roads with our Oliver. I second Mossemi's "one size up" and Geronimo John's silicone adhesive recommendations. A "little dab'l do ya" on the screw threads.1 point

“The Bus” Named at first sight by our two year old granddaughter because it looked like the bus in a book that was frequently read to her.1 point

We watch ours quite frequently before bed. Almost always something that I have downloaded on my iPhone via hdmi on the Furion. Works OK. Recently our adult son joined us for a few nights in Glacier National Park. (He has a stunningly good TV/audio system set up at his home.) We lay in our twin beds and all 6 ft of him in the dinette bed, two nights to watch movies. When his visit came to its inevitable end, we drove him to the airport. His parting words: “Thanks for having me. I loved the Ollie. But I am getting you a decent TV for Christmas” 🤣1 point

We've used the TST system for many (10+) years. We replaced the stock rubber valve stems with steel ones first. (These fit our 2022, YMMV: https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/xtra-seal/tire---wheel/tire-valves---caps/tire-valves---cores/aede909cf322/xtra-seal-bolt-in-valve-fits-rim-hole-diameter-5-8-inch/xts0/17428 ) Definitely get a TPMS, regardless of brand.1 point

We like this place so much we extended for a week. If we were any closer to Johnson Bay we would be in the water 😄. We are looking at Canada. The waves crashing on the shoreline here make it pretty dreamy when drifting off to sleep with the windows open. Our Weber Q1200 busy with the beast. Plated..at 138d West Quoddy Light house which was freshly painted. It can be seen 20 miles out at sea. IMG_4206.mov1 point

We will go for months without using our television but it is nice to be able to watch a DVD if we get a several rainy days in a row. We always bring a few favorites along just in case. Paula1 point

Has anyone had to replace the mount bolts for the entry steps? Found this problem after arrival to campground. One sheared and half was missing, the other was loose but still useable. I'll check with Oliver on Monday. We have a few weeks of downtime starting tomorrow so I'll get to start on my "fix-it" list :) John0 points

I have a general rule for all things digital: “In 3 years something twice as good will cost half as much” So I try to avoid paying extra for anything that is “integrated” with my “durable” purchases. No built in anything at home. Same with vehicles (when possible). This would have been a seriously easy choice for me if it had been an option at time of purchase. No permanent audio visual in the fancy tent!!! 😂. Just bring the current version of IPhone or MacBook or whatever floats your boat. Next summer bring the upgrade. (End of old man rant 😳)0 points
