  4. I'm not sure how useful this would be to others. I got tired of typing into google site:https://olivertraveltrailers.com/forums/ "some search term". This little html file works fantastic, but I had my Claude.AI create a page I could keep on my local computer, maybe on the desktop, where I can simply type in my search term and all the results only come from the forums pages, but via Google Results. Try it out. It's a single HTML document. Download it and type in something you wish to search for in these forums. I use Claude AI for work and find it to be the best in coding. oliver-forum-search.html

  6. Okay, I have to go to "yucky" work now. But this is what I have so far. Run's on my MacOS, and if someone is s Linux person, like me, it runs there too. Windows (windoze) is to come later if someone can convince me. LOL

  7. Chris, you are one Rock'in Tech Guy! Works great, love it! 😎 I like how it opens every query in a new tab. Exclude words is a nice feature that I've never been able to use before (wish an Amazon search would return results so clean). Efficient tool (and I say that from years of being website and training content PM and editor). I've used site:craigslist.org <search words> for years to search Craigs nationwide. Awesome, thank you Chris! 😂

  8. He’s just a young man, not the battery-god! 🤣 I think making a LiFePO4 investment is important and without internal heaters you’ll be doing work-arounds for as long as you use them, disconnecting them, heat blankets or something. Do it once, do it right! We live in a moderate climate, but over the last few nights with lows to 20F, at 8AM the Ruuvi in our basement at the rear wall measured 27F and the Epoch BMS kept all out battery cells right at 36F. I prefer knowing we can travel any day, at any temp, and use and charge our batteries! 😎 $500 vs. $1200 per 300 Ah is a huge difference though. When we bought our “Essentials” I don’t believe there was an Eco Series available. We purchased Essentails since they were lower cost vs. the Elite Series.

  9. I also asked Google Gemini Pro to compare the 5200 Marine Sealant vs methycrylate for this job. It liked both with a nod towards methylcrylate While both are considered "permanent" and high-strength, they are fundamentally different. Methyl methacrylate (MMA) is a structural adhesive that creates a rigid, chemical bond, while 3M 5200 is a polyurethane adhesive sealant that creates a flexible, rubbery bond. For mounting a 40lb Victron MultiPlus in a trailer, MMA is generally superior because it is designed to bear heavy structural loads without "creeping" (sagging over time), whereas 3M 5200 is primarily for sealing hull joints and bedding hardware. Comparison Table: MMA vs. 3M 5200 Plexus MA310 Methacrylate Adhesive$26.37Plexus 4 (29) Opens in a new window 3M 5200 Marine Adhesive Sealant$27.993M Opens in a new window Bond Type Bond Type Structural / Rigid Bond Type Adhesive Sealant / Elastomeric Best For Best For Heavy vertical loads & plastic-to-composite bonding Best For Watertight sealing & shock absorption Cure Time Cure Time 45-60 minutes (Fixture), 24 hours (Full) Cure Time 48 hours (Handling), 5-7 days (Full) See less See more Key Differences for Your Job Load Bearing: The Plexus MA310 is a "toughened" adhesive, meaning it has the stiffness to hold a heavy inverter vertically without any movement. While 3M 5200 is strong, its elastomeric (stretchy) nature means that under a constant 40lb load, the bond can technically "flex" more than you might want for a heavy electronics mount. Adhesion to PVC: MMAs are legendary for their ability to chemically "bite" into PVC. Polyurethanes like 5200 stick well to many plastics, but the bond is mechanical; MMA actually fuses to the PVC surface. Time on the Job: You can mount the MultiPlus onto an MMA-bonded board the next day. With standard 3M 5200, you would need to wait nearly a week for a full structural cure before hanging the weight of the inverter. Recommendation: Stick with the Plexus MA310 for this specific mount. It is the industry standard for bonding mounting boards to fiberglass because it provides a rigid structural connection that won't sag over years of road vibration. If you decide to go with 3M 5200, make sure to get the 3M 5200 Fast Cure version to reduce the wait time to 24 hours. ODORS Since I have chemical sensitivities I also asked about odors....Both eventually emit none with the 5200 taking a bit longer to outgas his is a great question, especially for a confined space like an Oliver trailer. There is a significant difference between how these two adhesives behave during and after the curing process. Summary: Odor Performance Adhesive Odor During Application Odor After Full Cure (24-48 hrs) Plexus MA310 (MMA) Extremely Strong. Sharp, acrid, "fruity" but pungent chemical smell. Zero. Once the chemical reaction finishes, it becomes an inert plastic. 3M 5200 (Polyurethane) Mild. Faint "rubbery" or solvent-like scent. Lingering. Can off-gas a "new car" or rubber smell for weeks. Plexus MA310 (MMA) MMAs are famous for being "stinky" while you are working with them.1 The liquid monomer is very volatile, and you must have all the windows and the roof vent open in your Oliver while applying it. The Good News: Because it cures via a rapid chemical reaction rather than solvent evaporation, the odor disappears almost instantly once it reaches its "peak exotherm" (gets hot and hardens). The Result: By the time you are ready to mount your MultiPlus the next day, there will be no detectable smell in the trailer. 3M 5200 (Polyurethane) Polyurethanes are much more pleasant to work with initially, but they are "slow movers." The "Cure" Trap: 3M 5200 cures by reacting with moisture in the air. This process is very slow (days, not minutes). The Result: Because it stays "alive" for so long, it can continue to emit a faint, rubbery chemical odor for several weeks, especially if the trailer gets hot in the sun. If you are sensitive to "new product" smells, this might bother you in the small cabin of a trailer.

  10. I'm considering converting my old paper manuals to digital format. I'm not looking forward to the task, but if done well enough, might be a useful task, as least for the next owner. One thing I just thought to do, was to find as many original manuals online first in good PDF format. Saving tons of time. I might be able to create a stand-alone we page that points to the individual manuals and include a search function. That would allow me to search through just my manuals for key words or phrases. I'll keep pondering this. Has any of the owners of older campers done this - digitize? My 2016 only has a nice leather ring binder of documents. I suspect new Ollies come with a copy in digital format, but not sure how well done it is - have any reviews? I've seen some nicely bound books of Ollie manuals too. Cheers,

  11. Found these cool decorative emblems that have helped with repairs and mods. Any emblem you like could help cover up where needed. Last year I upgraded the OEM inverter. It had a remote switch, requiring OTT to cut a 2 1/2" square hole in the fiberglass below the pantry shelf. Now we have an emblem of the Arizona state flag in that spot. Just recently, I removed our Dometic A/C and thermostat. I decided to relocate the new furnace-only thermostat under the pantry. That way we could set temp while lying in bed, nice! WOW, what a mess under the old thermostat! There was even a broke-off screw in the wall, like the installer tightened it so hard the head broke off! I used a Dremel to file down the steel screw flush. I mounted the new thermostat, drilling one 1/4" hole for the wires, and mounting using 3M VHB 4950. One small hole is all you need! 😎 This time we went with the flag of the great state of Texas! @Mike and Carol should like this! We lived in Texas for 9 years. It's where our son grew up, went to school, played sports and he stayed for college. We also have a Red-White & Blue theme for our Oliver, so the Lone Star state flag is perfect. Sure looks a lot better! These are really decent quality emblems, 3 3/8" diameter an 1/8" thick and reasonable cost. I chose the semi-flexible models. They have the US flag, the Thin Blue Line, Army, Navy, every one of the 50 state flags and many more: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09GH2TC75/?th=1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09G8SWZ42/?th=1

  12. Going to a new A/C you have remote control for that. I added a heat-only furnace thermostat, so just ran two wires from under pantry around rear of basement to furnace. All original wiring for Dometic was left in the walls (not that I’d ever use it again)!

  14. Thanks MosseyI In a way I made in impulsive buy, and maybe could have waited for better pricing. Though I noted list prices of about $1400 for just the main unit (ABD required) and thought the current Amazon prices of $987 ($1,006 today) and $138 ($143 today) for the ADB was good enough (saved $24 plus tax vs. buying today): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DM6YMJNY/?th=1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F1464FSX/?th=1

  15. Good questions. Answer? You don't. If below-freezing temps are possible when in storage, you must have power connected to ensure the 12V battery heaters can protect the batteries. And, when power is connected, you don't need to keep SOC at 50-60%, just when no power is connected. Dropping SOC to 50-60% applies when storing the batteries for long periods in a temperature-controlled environment, like when the batteries are removed from the trailer and stored inside a home.

  16. @Steve and MA this was very helpful. You'd think I had looked there before after all. these years. It's not perfect, for the 2016 as some equipment might have been different, AND much is certainly different now with newer components. I'm well into creating a program that will simply search a folder, maybe called Oliver-manuals/, and the web page will scan that and be ready to search in a few seconds. Pics to come.

  18. Just took a peak at the manual and it looks like it has one thermistor in the unit itself, and one inside the remote too. You can activate the one in the remote by using the "Follow Me" function. This is an awesome feature to have!

  19. Thanks! It got down to 12 degrees when I got stuck in Mammoth. Luckily the lead acid batteries hung in there. I guess I have some extra insurance, now.

  20. Yes, "According to the NEC, the general rule of thumb is that the circuit breaker size should be rated at 125% of the ampacity of the cable and wire for continuous loads." 45A x 1.25 = 56A, round up to 60 as a 50 would be too low. 60A x 1.25 = 75A, but your 70 should be fine at 10A over.

  23. I agree that their reputation has taken a significant hit. Will has a huge number of followers. The issues he found are shocking but why is it that I have the same battery (X3) that are 4 years old and have been through a bunch of discharge/recharge cycles and they appear to be in the same condition today that they did in January 2021? Is Dragon Fly handling complaints quietly under their 10 year warranty or are there no real amount of battery failures out there? Surely they have lawyers advising them. If the design issue is as Will describes, why haven’t I received notification from DF that my batteries are prone to meltdown and/or burning up? As I mentioned before, I feel like there’s something here that seems a bit off. I will continue to track this issue while cautiously using my Battle Born’s as I have since 2021. Mike

  24. Patriot/CRM: Thanks for posting Will's latest video. Pretty much substantiates my claim of melting plastic as a source. But it does not explain all the other issues he is pointing out. Sad and potentially dangeros situtation. If you have BB's, it is a must see video. GJ

  26. She's up top and installed, running ever so quietly... I'll write more on the installation soon and total height measurement. It does appear a bit tall, though I took the picture from higher ground. I ran the furnace during the Bears game (love when the Packers get beat, it's so sweet)! Then Chris and I went out to check on the Oliver... The cabin was at 74F and with the Chill Cube set to 60F it cooled quickly (but true testing can not be accomplished during the winter)! When it kicked in, it started drawing only 2A, OMG! We're always on inverted battery power, no shore line. it took a few minutes to ramp up. Highest reading was 18A. The Dometic Penguin II needed over 150A to make that freight train sound and would take 2-3 times as long to cool (how does that work)? I didn't measure total usage this time, but at the high draw of 18A (which sounds crazy, but it would certainly draw more on a hot summer day) I could run this A/C for 50 hours! I'm thinking with 900 Ah LiFePO4 batteries we will be able to run this on at least 3-5 hot afternoons when boondocking, get a hook-up after a week out. Out west you rarely need to run A/C overnight. A/C in the afternoon, furnace by dawn, so yes if they ever sell an upgraded model with heat pump and Bluetooth it would kill the market. Then it settled down at 10A, in AUTO mode the fan was running a low-medium speed (as recorded, run movie). The fan can run even slower/quieter! The huge evaporator fan in the Non-ducted version of the Chill Cube is the secret, and it's what sold me. When turned off the oscillating vent goes back to closed position, love how the air handler hangs <1" below the ceiling! I'm 6'2" and when the vent was full down, standing tall it was still 2-3" above my head. Love how it pushes a lot of air up and down the Oliver hallway but does not blow directly on the beds. Living in the Southwest, and especially after living a few years in South Florida, Summer has become our least favorite season (more so for Chris). I have a feeling that Summers in the Oliver are going to be pretty decent running this A/C unit! 😎 Furrion Chill Cube Running.MOV

  27. It was mounted using an additional extension piece of “starboard” backing plate (as mentioned in a previous post) glued in with a very very strong industrial grade marine grade fiberglass adhesive. I do not know the name of the marine grade odorless adhesive that was used. I do know its used in Marine grade installs. I opted not to have my installer drill through and bolt the backing plate through the fiberglass. My concern is the “hanging weight” on the bolt through the fiberglass from the 3000W inverter/charger could/would eventually cause the fiberglass to star or splinter and eventually just crack. In my experience and discussions with Jason E at Oliver service over the years, drilling through the fiberglass is not at all recommended. So drilling just was not something I was willing to risk. So far my Victron 3000W inverter converter is still very secure.

  28. Will you be making a thread on the installation of the chill cube for those of us that want to follow along ? and once you get it on the roof we would like to know the final increase in height above the stock dometic unit !

  29. It would be nice if all the best features of the Chill Cube and Turbro could be combined into one unit! Love that the Cube has an actual variable speed blower motor instead of a 3 speed like the Turbro. I'm sure it's also quieter due to better internal ductwork located outside of the RV instead of in the inside cover like on the Turbro. Being able to lock in in 50% or 75% power is another biggie. Don't know why they rate the Cube at 18k though when it only puts out 9k-9.5K Btu's. That's a big difference from the 12.5K Btu's that Morton's testing showed on the Turbro. Hope that doesn't become an issue in the desert...

  31. I just installed two Epoch 300aH Essential batteries in my LEII. @jd1923 let me know he ordered his from an authorized retailer called Renewable Outdoors and I did the same. They had the same price as the Epoch website and had very good communication and service. They simply process the order and the batteries are shipped direct from Epoch anyway. https://renewableoutdoors.com/products/epoch-batteries-12v-300ah-heated-bluetooth-lifepo4-battery-epoch-essentials So far, so good with mine. The batteries arrived in good shape in protective boxes at 55% SOC. They connected to the app easily. Agree that it's anoying to have to find them in the list of every bluetooth device in range but the app allows you to rename each battery so it's quicker to find them in the list. The app provides all the stats you could want. It's too soon to comment as I have yet to take a trip with them, but I'm excited to have 600aH and expect to have no power worries at all. As a side note, the list price as gone up by $200 to $1199 in the last few weeks. Not sure if this is related to the China tarif situation. It will be interesting to see what happens to lithium ion battery prices across all brands as 98% of all lithium batteries are made in China 😞
