  1. Forum Members, there are a number of titles (w/slight variations) of books addressing the above topic. (if this has been discussed before, please let me know what to search for, for hits, as i found none) authors are; Roundabout Publications, Don & Joyce Wright, Spurgeon L. Hinkle to name a few. is there one that rises above the others. how about the same for State & National Parks. are any of these books worth it, or do you use the INet for research for up to date camping locations. i am of course reading all the contributions on the current thread > Oliver Camping Campgrounds & Parks we just finished our 2nd outing of, 6 weeks, 6622 mi, 13 (mid-west & southern) states, 1-3 nights in each, at State, City, CoE & Harvest Host sites. we have already started to look at the next outing. Regards, Bryan & Maggie
  2. SteveCr, thanks, i will look into that. we have (4) AGM BATTS and the 340 Watt Solar Package. we are power misers, AC & Heat when attached to Shore 30a. Blankets & overhead fan are cheaper and easier quieter. do not use many lights on, old habits are hard to shake. right now i am beginning to think this may something to do with Batts rather than Solar/ZAMP or a combo of both. i have not opened a ticket yet, but may, depending upon answers to questions i have. i just do not know yet. Even though the (2) breakers under s/s bed next to pantry did not appear to be tripped. Before the trip/reset after a good sunny solar day, Batt Icon would show 1/2-1/4, since i tripped/reset them, things have improved, Batt Icon showed 3/4 yesterday afternoon. We were able to make it thru last night without having the Xantrex alarm/red lights go off and shutdown, or have the refrig get error codes L or C, and shutdown. Batts were at 1/4 this morning (0630-0700) when ZAMP woke up and started its magic. Batts showed 3/4 this afternoon. so we will see what tonight & tomorrow morning brings. Regards Bryan,
  3. pulled out the ladder and re-examined the connection boxes under the solar panels. Boxes & Cables .et.al seemed to be connected (not loose) securely & properly. i am beginning to think i may have battery issues, rather than solar, as the Solar (charging) Lights lights show that it appear to be working. i forgot to check for current coming in from solar, so i will (as in learn) do that.
  4. Update - i checked the (3) yellow inline fuses, and all were there, and all appeared to be in working condition. i am adding pic's, as that always helps when system started up this morning, the 1/4 batt icon was lit. by the time i took pic (1) shows light config, and at 1/2. i shut down Xantrex before i tripped breakers 6 & 7 before checking on fuses. after i reset breakers 6 & 7, i happened to notice that (3) 3/4 Batt icon was lit, this has not happened for over a week. the breakers appeared to be in working (levers were not sticking out) condition. when i tripped & reset, it looked the same as before i tripped. Question - 8 Batt Icon. if i am understanding the manual, i should be able to check the status of each battery. we only ever see BT1. we have AGM's, does that make a diff? how about the way they are connected in the Batt Box? TexasGuy - i have a ladder and will check that area
  5. NCeagle - i will have a look see on the fuses and get back to the forum. i am assuming i should trip the breaker under S/S bed next to pantry before looking/opening up "yellow" inline fuse holders. as manual says, they should be placed as close to BATT as possible, so i will be looking in that general area. we are (4) AGM & 340 Watt Solar Package. i am assuming we are a ZS-30A, because we are under the 510 watt threshold, with a 340w solar panel. Basic question - (1) will batts recharge when connected to 30a. shore power. (i saw IL_Travelers comments) i have read lifeline batt section in opt. feat. man., but did not see/may have missed it. this trip, we have alternated boondocking and having a 30a shore power connection. with each boondocking, batt life is less, and basically short-lived before shutting down. i will be out checking the fuse situation.
  6. We Too appear to be fighting a Solar/ZAMP issue not recharging Batteries, even though we have had sunny days. ZAMP appears to be working, based upon lights and examples in manual. On is Red, Charging is Blue, 1/4 & 1/2 are yellow. never gets beyond that. this has been going on for 3 days now. what saved us (masked the issue) was that we had shore power between Solar only power... at this time, we are essentially running on Solar only, no shore line. Well OKAY, it is dark 2200hrs , so no solar, so on Batt's/DC... After loss of Solar Rays, the Batt's run down, then Refrig no longer works, even on Propane. lack of sufficient battery power, shuts down Xantrex. i have been reading Zamp/Xantrex docs in Manuals. and have checked all connections. i will pull out Voltage Meter/Circuit tester tomorrow, and try to figure out how that works to provide additional information. this may be a lack of understanding on my part; however, i am not getting error codes. except on the refrig. I did reset breaker underneath Street-side bed by pantry this morning once we had sun. that seemed to get the Xantrex up and ZAMP indicated it was charging. Zamp never seems to charge beyond 1/4-1/2 charge. now it is dark, and Xantrex is getting red light, and shutting down. Currently we are on the Road (stopped in McKinney TX) on Memorial Weekend... going to bed, will deal with it tomorrow, a new day, and hopefully the sun will be shining. Bryan (Scrambled...)
  7. GAP - we have also noticed this fan scraping noise. we did not notice it last year on our pick-up return trip from TN to ND, which may be a factor. it is very apparent when the AC turns off, and 6-8-10 "tick-tick-tick" noises before stopping (sounds more like a 3-4 blade propeller, not the squirrel type cages as in JD's provided diagram) prior to that, the rubbing however is masked by the "SLIGHTLY (ha-ha) NOTICEABLE" noise of the thrust of the AC. i will read-up on it, and figure how to remove internal covering. i do not think it is insects/birds related, but we will see, when i get the cover off. 8. To all who commented; THANK YOU. i thought i was pretty straight when i unhooked. will do as suggested, starting with least aggressive. We leave a really nice HH (New Berlin, IL) site in the morning. we will share more later. then onto KY for a couple of days, then LGSP. looking fwd to placing names with faces. Maggie (SNYSDUP) & Bryan (Scrambled...) .
  9. I believe i have seen this addressed before; however search does not reveal key words. So if someone knows when where it was addressed, that would be fine. We have been on the road, on our way down to LGSP, to meet up with all of you. Along the way, I have made some rather elementary 3-point turn arounds, when I did not listen/understand the Navigator… but nothing really tight like 90° Truck vs. Ollie… When hitching up at our last stop, I noticed that the Andersen triangle plate holes were not aligning with the hole at the bottom of the ball hitch. I have attached a pic, to show. Note the hitch is in the receiver upside-down to better show my issue. You can see how much it has turned. It may have even turned more since I first discovered my issue. I am able to hitch up, but only if I come in at an angle. I have not made any adjustments to the ball hitch itself, and will not, until I know that is the proper way to correct. And I have not taken a “breaker-bar” inserted it into the pin hole and tried to turn it back to center. After you stop R-O-F-L’g, please let me know how to correct.
  10. SNYSDUP is heading out today, meandering its way down to Lake Guntersville & the NOT-Rally. We look forward to meeting all who will be there. We are starting out with the "Willis" (cat), let the adventure begin... Bryan & Maggie
  11. Do you stow it whilst under tow?
  12. For those companies, which have a good reputation for "Service", I believe asking YOU to cut the power cord is their way of making sure you do not use it again. Returning power cord & info on model/SN, and sending you a replacement unit is a lot cheaper than the alternative. It also gives them a good rep with owners/new customers/forums like this. Words; Get around.
  13. The signature track (all are good), off of a GREAT Album. So much Great Music... So Little Time!!!
  14. Oops...
  15. this is what i am seeing. Home Forums Activity Service
  16. Susan & Ray, Please let us know how those Electric Water Connections work out.😬 We are waiting for a full write up & Pictures... Remember we all love pictures. 🤣
  17. JD, I am assuming that this is a view from the top into the bathroom vanity. Within the black circle, are bolts like this covered on the protruding end, so they do not rub/abrade the water lines or wiring, or is the distance enough, so no problemo... Finally, is that (yellow) romex in that area. i have not seen any yet, in the few areas i have been looking into, but maybe i am just looking enough, or need to pay attention.
  18. "WE" were probably advised to do the above at pick-up day, but that among others... did not sink in... so we were struggling to get the "A" plate in position for each setup of towing & camping. I always used a rubber mallet... but a 2-3 pound mal would have worked better, but we all know that is not the thing to do. Then about the 4th site breaking camp and struggling to get the plate on, a wonderful (are there any other type of Ollie Owners...) couple (a shout-out to Laura & Tim) from FL, said they connected ball to hitch and then lifted the front end of the TT up just an inch or so, (it was like someone showed me how to start the motor on a CHAINSAW to cut wood) how easy everything slipped into place "YES"... From then on we have not had any trouble attaching the "A" plate, or lining up the safety pin underneath the plate, the same when we unhitch. And to make a short story even longer... It has occurred to me that on your pick-up day, your TV will probably be loaded down with things that would normally go in your TT. So when the nice OTT person telling you everything you need to know, but cannot possibly remember. YUP, the one under the OTT adjusting the chain tension for the "A" Hitch, it may be that that adjustment is good for "Right Then" but as soon as you offload from the TV to the TT... it needs to be re-adjusted. I plan to hookup and re-adjust "our" chain tension with what would be the items we now normally carry in the back of the TV as well as the items we now have in the TT. Regards,
  19. does this relive/release some "Back Pressure" and allow for the "Hand Pump" to pull-push the anti-freeze into the lines?
  20. OKAY - A couple more, but i really have to get back to whatever i was doing before this offramp. Sadly Brenda passed before we saw her. LSBM, we did see, in fact were invited back stage to meet them at a small college appearance on their first American tour. i guess they just wanted to talk to 3 pasty white Canadians and 1 Norwegian... you would have thought my in laws were meeting the HRH ER II... and finally, just to keep the folks up in North Dakota on their toes and wondering WITW is going on... Also great Road Music, Whilst sipping COFFEE and PULLING "SNY SD UP". "All Genre All the Time" Music the Language of the Universe...
  21. do you have a link?
  22. I will probably get scolded for this... JD - do you have one of these yet???
  23. I feel like a "High School Custodian" with all the Keys I now carry. I try to group them, Drive time, Setup, day-to-day camping. Maggie has dups in case I cannot find my Prevagen...
  24. Great & Thank You.
  25. although we have not experienced this, we have a "Hurricane Lint Lizard - Lint Dryer Vacuum Attachment", which we use "as directed", it is good for getting in difficult places.
