Propane has 91,500 BTUs per gallon. Gasoline has 116,090 BTUs per gallon Any generator running on propane will have at least a 20% reduction in power (wattage) output. I would take this into consideration when sizing the generator for running the AC.6 points

We have ordered a 2022 LEII and were also asked if we would like an earlier delivery date. This opportunity arose in connection with the introduction of the Platinum Solar option, which we declined. We were being asked if we would consider trading delivery dates with someone ahead of us in the queue, who might want the Platinum Solar option, not available until October, 2021. One significant advantage I see in the 202 model LEII is the no-lube Dexter axles. I was told this feature would be available only on the 2022 models. Thus, I declined the possibility of an earlier delivery date, and held to our January 7, 2022 date. Avoiding the PITA of having to clean and pack wheel bearings every year seems worth the wait.2 points

Arrived safe. Pulling the Daughters 24 ft square as a box trailer home for them in the move back to Tonasket WA and it was a perfect wind storm to remind me of Oliver’s aerodynamic shape. Also got lucky today and saw a very cool graphic on our second Ollie sighting. Hwy 20 it was heading East up Lolo pass heading into the Okanogan Valley. Real cool front logo that was Native in origin. Maybe like a ceremonial mask. Went by fast but effect was cool. Mike2 points

It is really hard to see what you are referring to, can you post a better focused pic? It appears to me that your number 4 Refrigerator 15A breaker (fourth from the left) is labelled 20 amps on the door. There is no 25A breaker. I don’t recall what size mine is, but if your 15A breaker does not pop I would not worry about it. What does the wiring diagram show? My door labels were wonky, I just corrected them with a ballpoint pen. And I used a silver Sharpie to write on the breakers themselves, to make them easy to identify. Air conditioner - AC, hot water heater - HW, Coverter - CH (for charger), refrigerator - FR (for fridge). You can’t read the door anyway unless you lie down and curl up under the table because the hinge is on the wrong side! It sure would be nice if that was fixable, but the front panel only goes on one way. Phhhhhttt! John Davies Spokane WA2 points

My SMEV cooktop gave me fits for a bit. The front bigger burner started throwing a yellow flame, sooting the bottom of thectea kettle, and made a funny smell and hissing noise. I turned it off. Tried the small back burner. Which gave the customary clean blue flame, but takes forever to boil water. So, likely not bad gas, since the other burner worked fine. Probably not the regulator either,, since that would affect both burners. Probably was not the proper air to gas mix, so emitting soot and yellow inefficient flame, and Carbon monoxide, as well. Searched all over the net for a few days, looking for a service manual or a youtube from someone with a similar problem. Came up mostly empty-handed. Searched forums, and finally found a few suggestions. Remove the cap and clean the jet and orifices. (Cap screws are stripped, and immovable ) Or, adjust the air slide, to improve gas to air ratio. (Smev doesn't have one.) I was about to give up, and spend $90 on a new burner, which, surprisingly, is still available, for my old unit. Tired of waiting forever for the tea kettle to boil on the small burner, I got out an old toothbrush and ran it around. Got a bit of carbon, but still a yellow flame. Turned off the propane,, and burned it off. Got out a can of compressed air with the straw, and went around the whole ring. Took a long time to clean up the carbon mess, but got my lovely blue flame back.1 point

I will put my Champion duel fuel gen up against the honda all day. 5 plus years several hurricanes running 24/7 for more than a week. If I purchase another champion to replace this one I’m still head of the game by several years and$$$.1 point

JohnL, yes on the secondary pressure regulator there is a small spring backed priming button. I have found it takes a few extra pushes of that button and a few extra pulls of the genset to get it to fire when using just the low pressure regulator after the Oliver propane has been off at the tank. Just assumed it was the extra length of tubing and hose on the Oliver between the trailers primary regulator and the Hutch kit secondary regulator. Have not experienced that issues when using both Hutch regulators tied directly to a propane tank.1 point

Before finding my one-owner (one 1200 mile trip) 2020 unit I was in the same situation. If you are buying a fully optioned unit the price change really isn’t that dramatic, they just bundled everything. The major changes were the new axles and mandatory dual awnings, and Lithium upgrade options. If they were replacing the AC I’d wait in a heartbeat, but otherwise getting an extra season made it worth buying a 2020 for me.1 point

Yes this voids the oem warranty Other trade offs to be aware of include operation at cold temperature and elevation The modification is adding a second fuel option, so gasoline use is still available...less the warranty For our use case the benefits of propane fuel storage and capacity combined with the clean burn were worth the loss of warranty at the EU2200i price point1 point

FYI a replacement Nev-R-Lube bearing assembly itself is extraordinarily expensive and it may require a hydraulic press to install it. So in the event of a failure you will need a tow and a professional automotive or machine shop to fix it - unlike a regular bearing design that can be replaced by a skilled owner with hand tools. A tow will be covered by your roadside assistance insurance, but down time and mental anguish will be high and the shop will charge maybe $100 for labor. You can buy a mechanical puller and do it if you feel capable. Most owners would not be…. http://www.dexterpartsonline.com/files/2036913/uploaded/Nev-R-Lube Bearings.pdf If the failure is catastrophic, it will trash your brake and perhaps your axle. If you camp in the West in remote areas, the NevR Lube bearings are a huge liability. Some RV shops won’t work on them. They DO fail. If you get this kind of axle, buy and carry a spare bearing, because the parts are not commonly found everywhere. The only way I would want this setup is with disk brakes that have slip on rotors. That way you can carry a complete spare hub assembly and change it yourself in half an hour, and then get the failed bearing replaced at your leisure. Google “Nev-R-Lube bearing failure”. PS, don’t overload your axles. Do use a TPMS so you will get a heat warning in time. John Davies Spokane WA1 point

I agree with Backofbeyond, I was sooooo happy the day I removed my Andersen hitch from our Ollie, and even happier the day I sold it and shipped it to its new owner!1 point

We love Joshua Tree too! It’s one of the local places we want to take our trailer in the future. Please share if you head out this way again, we’d love to go say “hi” and visit with any Oliver campers that come this way 🙂1 point

Suggestion - before doing the propane conversion on a new generator check the warranty details for the generator. Better to be aware than be surprised. Bill1 point

Hi Ralph. I just reset our brackets for the Anderson. Our trailer is a 2018 and so is the Anderson. There is an installation video on the Anderson site which I watched before I started. Anderson recommends torquing the brackets at 75-90 ft-lbs. I set ours to 80 ft-lbs. Anderson also recommends that you install the set screw finger tight and then turn it 2 1/2 turns more. Our brackets ride at a slight angle on the frame with the top of the bracket back further than the bottom. We did a short trip this weekend on a winding mountain road in VA and the brackets stayed in place. Pat1 point

We have a Honda Eu 2200i, and I converted it myself to run on either gasoline or LP from our Ollie's on-board tanks. An excellent conversion kit was purchased from https://www.hutchmountain.com Hutch Mountain has wonderful YouTube, step-by-step videos explaining how to install the kit; easy-peasy! I also bought 2 iridium-tipped spark plugs, a fancy billet aluminum dipstick, and a neat aluminum screw-on device to aid in oil changes. I did call them to clarify an issue, and they were so very helpful over the phone. I recommend this company highly!1 point

A smaller can, or a true compressor, would have been easier to work with. But, as we're camping, I worked with what we had... From what I've read on the uk forums (SMEV primarily used in Europe and Australia, it seems), the cap corrodes and rusts underneath, causing an uneven surface, and rust and soot build up on the little alloy spreaders. All the air used in combustion seems to come from the spreaders, so they have to stay clean and open to burn, properly. When we get home this fall, and empty the trailer, we may have to drill out the screws, clean everything properly, and replace with stainless screws. I really like the cooktop, and want to keep it working properly. It was an expensive, marine quality unit, and should last another 15 or 20 years, I'd guess. The new Dometic/smev cooktops don't have thermocouples, and the caps, though stainless, just rest on the burner, from what I can see, so easier to clean. And, the one piece iron grates on the newer cooktop are really nice, too, compared to my skinny wire spiders.1 point
