Wherever you are, their system is overloaded. Is there a 50 amp connection as well as the 30 amp? If you have the cord you can use the 50 amp to get more volts. There are probably fewer people using them, unless the site is full of big rigs.4 points

The correct size metal ring ABS flange is available on Amazon. You will have to glue a short length of 3" diameter black ABS pipe onto the outlet of the flange, using the proper cement for ABS plastic plumbing pipe, to extend it down into the black tank rubber collar seal. You can measure the length of the pipe on your old broken flange to determine the length of pipe to glue to the new flange. Here's the link to the flange and the ABS pipe. Lowe’s also sells the proper primer/cleaner and cement for ABS plastic pipe. Just spoke with Mike Sharp at Oliver Service and he confirmed Oliver is planning to retro fit the new Truma AC into the existing owners Oliver’s. The Oliver LE2 with the new Truma AC at the rally was in fact a 2020 model. So we’ll consider having our Dometic Penguin swapped out for the new Truma. Mike said the retro fits could possibly begin in March of next year. Something we may consider as the Truma is a quieter unit for sure after listening to it while at the rally while inside the demo.2 points

PapaBiker, We used our Calmark cover last winter and kept our Ollie plugged into 30 amp shore power here at our home from Oct to April and our solar panels were covered. We did not experience any issues with our AGM batteries. When not in use our Ollie always stays plugged into shore power. - Patriot2 points

Hello all, I started a new series of YouTube videos all about products, storage solutions and optimizing space for the Oliver, as well as a tour of my Oliver/decor. I have tons of great tips/products to share and really enjoy the challenge of organizing small spaces. My previous camper was a 16ft Airstream Nest so I’ve learned quite a bit about optimizing space and functional organization. I really hope to grow my channel for Oliver users since there are so few organization videos specifically for an Oliver. I’am not affiliate with any business, I do not get paid for links shares. It’s just me sharing ideas and products I love that work well in the Oliver. Please like and subscribe and I hope you enjoy the videos. Here are the links to the videos thus far.1 point

Inspired by dhaig's use of a Harbor Freight suction cup to make an external towel rack, I decided to use another Harbor Freight suction cup, https://www.harborfreight.com/4-58-in-aluminum-suction-cup-lifter-110-lb-57500.html, to make an interior shelf. I fabricated the shelf out of a 1/4" sheet of polycarbonate. I'm using the shelf to hold a CPAP machine on the back side of the pantry cabinet of our standard bed Elite 2 but the suction cup shelf could be adapted to a number of different applications depending on a person's need. The suction cup is rated for 110 Lbs. Of course this is a straight line pull and not side loaded like it is in this shelf application, but that said, the shelf is quite secure and can support quite a bit of weight.1 point

I recently detailed our LE II and want to keep it free from bird evidence and tree sap wile not in use, so I have the Calmark cover installed. She’s a 2019 model with the solar package and AGM batteries. I have a 30 amp service next to the pad where she’s parked. As the solar panels are covered, is there risk of overcharging if I leave the shore power plugged in while stored?1 point

I called and talked with Mike Sharp at Oliver Service today and asked him if Oliver would switch out our Dometic Penguin for the new Truma AC? Mike told me that Oliver is going to be retrofitting the new Truma into present owners Ollies for those that want to pay for this upgrade. I did not ask what the price would be. He did say they hope to begin scheduling this in March of next year. Naturally this all depends on supply chain etc. The LE 2 at the rally that we saw had the Truma unit installed was a 2020 model. We may consider the upgrade to the new Truma.1 point

Actually, I love my old analog tstat. Maybe I'm just old school. It doesn't cycle a lot. I set it on lowest setting at night, put on a blanket, and good to go.1 point

I just completed the change out of my Dometic unit for the Rec Pro Houghton unit. I am amazed how quiet the new unit is in comparison to the old Dometic. I did as others suggested and switched to an old school mechanical thermostat to control my propane heater. All I have to say is come on OTT get with it and start offering a better, quieter AC unit.1 point

Following up in this post. I ended up in hospital after posting, and back home yesterday. I'm fine; just a scare, but feeling under the weather a bit. I cross-posted this query on the Facebook group, too, and had responses from several folks. A lady in Akron has theirs at their house this weekend, and then Geneva State Park for the first of next weekend. We were going to try to see it one of those places, but with the medical stuff and a followup midweek next week, I think we'll wait until later next week or the weekend to visit.1 point

We've had the indelb truckfridge version of the cf130 on our older elite for 4 1/2 years now, and I can say unequivocally it is the most reliable, most efficient fridge we've ever had. Why do we love it? Because it works, on all ambient temperatures and elevations we've camped in, it cools down quickly, makes ice cubes in an hour, and, did I mention, it works? Consistently. And, it's really quiet. And, a light inside. I think the western and southern campers, especially, will find this to be a big plus. And, folks who routinely camp at higher elevation. There's a really good reason why most Aussie and European trailers come equipped with dc compressor fridges. The cf130 is undoubtedly better insulated than mine, and it's coast guard approved, so a higher price tag. We have tracked 50 to 70 ah used per day with ours. We have managed with 200 watts fixed solar, and 100 watts portable solar, but that required a lot of power management, and occasional use of our generator. We upgraded our fixed solar to 2 x 200, and portable to 200, 2 years ago. Our Elite only has 2 x 105 ah agm batteries, so you can easily do the math... The bigger elite 2 trailers, with 4 battery capacity, will find it much easier to manage power, even with fla or agm batteries. No one at Oliver asked me for a recommendation, but if they had, that cf130 fridge would have been my recommendation. John E Davies had a good point on the cold dump of door openings, but that was even more true with the 3 ways, imo. A number of sailboats have incorporated a slide-out portable unit like he suggested, and I'm sure it's a great idea, but it's still the same concept as digging around in an ice chest. I'm ok with that as a portable freezer someday, but not as my main fridge. I put everything in the same places, every time. I put sandwich supplies in one big ziplock on one shelf, and take it out to make lunch. Meats in a bin. Produce in the slide-out drawer. Everything has a mapped place, so I can find things quickly. The only problem we've had is ice buildup in the smaller freezer. I defrost it every 10 to 14 days, but, remember that we routinely camp in places with higher humidity, and we often camp 6 to 8 weeks at a time. It takes a very short time to defrost, anyway. (Don't use a hair dryer to defrost!) We routinely camp without electricity. Just solar.1 point

This stuff is great for the outdoor lights. Makes them dimmer and less harsh. John Lamin-x One 4 inch x 8 inch... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CXWPO72?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share1 point

Great idea! I hope you'll let us know how that turns out...I may copy that idea 🙂1 point

That is a very nice unit, but IMHO if Oliver is transitioning to a Danfoss type fridge, I think they should install a top loader (door on top, insulated sides) on a slide out tray. That way you don't dump all the cold air every single time you go inside for an item.... which really increases the energy consumption. These don't cycle nearly as often! Plus you would be able to remove it easily if you wanted to clean it or use it in another vehicle.i I don't believe that it would be any more awkward than a great big door intruding into the hallway, except you would have to slide it out most of the way to open it. There are sliding drawer units, but those dump cold air too, there is no way around it when the sides are wide open, cold air sinks naturally: "Danfoss/SeCOP compressor offers low power consumption, quiet performance, and operation at a heel up to 30°" That last part is nice, I am always worrying about my propane fridge burning out the coil when it is at 30 degree angle 😉 The unit draws 5 amps when running. I think this new Norcold fridge is going to be really hard on a lot of boondockers who can't keep the batteries charged....those who always camp in the direct sunshine in desert states won't have any worries, but a 200 watt+ portable panel is going to be necessary most other times. or run the generator every couple of days. 50 to 70 amp hours a day is not insignificant when you also use the inverter and microwave.. And I believe that Oliver STILL does not let you charge off the tow vehicle if you have lithiums.... which you will need with this fridge! John Davies Spokane WA1 point

They supplied the 50 to 30, same outcome. Moving to a different site # in a few minutes. Ran on the 150 last night, used 23 miles worth of gas.1 point

I wanted to put dimmers on the interior lights, but heard back from Oliver that they are not dimmable. Bummer. Let me know what you learn about the outdoor bulbs!1 point

Katjo, I'm really enjoying your videos and organization tips. They'll be invaluable as I plan how to organize my Oliver when I pick it up in January. I have a somewhat unrelated question. Where did you get your bedspreads? Are they standard twin size? Thanks.1 point

Sorry to hear you have the same issue I had. Oliver really should upgrade to a better flange. I’ll bet a lot of the all plastic flanges are cracked when installed during the manufacturing process if the worker tries to use the flange screws to pull the flange down into place instead of first fully seating the flange and pipe into the seal on the black tank first before installing the screws. It is a tight fit to push the 3” pipe into the rubber collar seal on the top of the black tank, but it just takes a bit of effort and some lubricant like dish soap to push it in. My repair shown in a previous post above was done while on the road, and I wasn’t completely happy with the sloppy glue job I did on the white PVC parts, so I just re-did mine with the proper black 3” ABS flange with stainless steel ring, and a short section of black 3” ABS pipe ordered from Lowe’s. I also installed a new seal between the toilet and flange as well. And 6 screws holding the metal flange ring to the floor now instead of just 4 screws used with the original cheap all plastic flange. The new one is firmly in place now. No more rocking. Interesting, as I assume most people buy this add-on to connect to weaker, sometimes slower connections. Thanks for all the great reporting.1 point

Thanks to someone on here, we just ordered a set of AB Lifestyles custom sheets for our Hiker squaredrop trailer. When we bough the 5X8 Hiker, we added a 6" folding Milliard queen mattress and queen sheets. The problem with the queen mattress is that it is the exact same width as the inside of the trailer, and long enough to push into the open lower galley area. So no ventilation around the mattress, even if I put the venting stuff underneath, Last week I closed off that galley area, and cut the mattress down to full-size mattress length, but wider than full size. Any sheets we found are for 12-16" thick mattresses, so tons of wrinkles. On you guys' advice, we ordered a set of custom sheets and mattress pad from AB Lifestyle, and they should be here after next week. They were going to ship them sooner, but that's when we will be down in Hohenwald. 😉 We got the cheapest set they offered, but the quality and service will be a good indicator if we need to order a set of Oliver Twin sheets from them next spring. 🙂1 point

When I was in Hohenwald after my tour, I was by myself in their LE II on the sales lot. I had the same problem; I could NOT get that TV down! Later I was informed to push UP on the back of the TV to release it. Glad to know I’m not alone...1 point

Our flange just broke. Second short trip after delivery. Barely used the dang thing. Only one flange bolt holding the toilet on now. The other one's just flopping around. Fortunately, we're next to the bath house. But, I'm not happy.0 points
