  1. The "Bean" .... before she was the bean. These were taken in June of 2016 on our factory tour after picking up #145. Oliver was doing some kind of work on the trailer. Probably getting her ready for sale before the Shaffers found her. Oliver may have gotten the restoration ball rolling but they did the rest, including the pinstriping etc. Very unusual Oliver to see.

  2. Steve - we are scheduled to pick up about 20 days before you guys and we ordered the standard cushions with the same plan in mind, go find something that we like later. Maybe if you take your standard cushion to TOMF after you take delivery, they could get as close as possible and you could see what the gap would look like? I am following this so we will know if this is an option for us. It sounds like a great plan. Brian

  4. As far as I know, there was only one black one made, and it is sitting in my neighbor’s yard in Smith Valley, Nevada. It has been out here for years. BTW, I have posted about this several times and even mentioned it to Scott Oliver.

  5. Probably, possibly, said she (I) who is the wife of an engineer. And was spitting liquids laughing, as she read your post. We spend much of our planning time sorting down from most complicated to simplest. I think it's part of the engineering and brilliance chromosome.... Years ago, I had a cartoon on my wall in my office. Tire swing requested by owner, then as designed by engineer, etc. Something like this, but not quite. When we sold my building, the cartoon disappeared. Wish I still had it. 40+ years as engineer assistant apprentice, still laughing and enjoying our life. Sorry for the thread drift. Not for nothing, but I've found that life works best when we can laugh at our own quirks and foibles. Happy camping.

  7. A back awhile ago we installed a vent high up in the bathroom wall. We installed it up there so no shower water could get to it. It improved to air flow greatly from the bathroom register as there was no way for the air to get to the return vent, with the door closed. As you can see from the candle flame the air moves freely now. A bonus was that the bathroom vent no longer had to struggle to get air to vent if the window was closed. We do have the heat register under the standard vent almost completely closed...

  8. Katjo, I used the remote, selected smartcast and I have tv now. It was on other inputs. The trailer had recognized that there was a WiFi connection, but it couldn't connect until I chose smartcast as the input. John

  9. I do agree that the current owner has done a magnificent job of reconstruction. I wonder who moved the body back onto the frame. I am well acquainted with that procedure.

  10. And I most wholeheartedly agree with both of you. I get really tired of seeing folks hijack someone else's thread with a similar (but actually unrelated) problem of their own and then everyone gets confused and nobody gets any help. I've reread the entire thread and as BHNCB stated there's TWO different issues here and they're not interrelated. We could close this entire thread and everyone can start their own, but that's not fair to Bill and Nancy. I have renamed the thread: "Bill and Nancy's Furnace is cycling on and off every 2 minutes" and hence forth anything posted here should pertain only to the problems that Bill and Nancy are having. Additionally I am going to attempt to move non-pertinent posts to another thread. This will likely result in some apparent discontinuity in both threads. Please folks, in the future, start another thread that addresses your problem rather than tagging it into an existing one.

  11. Perhaps its in the eye of the beholder - but (pun intended) - the new owner has done a very nice job of putting Humpty Dumpty back together again.

  12. It was not the black trailer, but I agree it was cobbled together and butt ugly.

  14. AGM batteries are readily available from numerous sources, stores or on-line. When purchasing your batteries, look for the most Amp Hours reserve that will fit within your battery compartment. I've found that when you go above 100 or 110 Amp hours, the batteries become too large or heavy to be practical. Check available reviews and warranty. When I have had 12V issues and discovered one battery has deteriorated significantly and the other is taking up the slack, I have always replaced both batteries at the same time, figuring the only good battery might be reaching its useful life as well. Measure the dimensions of your battery compartment. My 2008 Elite's compartment works well with Group 27 batteries.

  15. What group size battery? What is most important, price, brand quality, warranty, or.....? You're generally better off purchasing batteries. from a local source if all your criteria can be met. For an online seller of top of the line Lifeline batteries however, I'd recommend Fisheries Supply in Seattle.

  16. We got 6 inches last night the average for the winter is usually only a couple feet or so. We haven’t had a good Nor’easter in about 5 years

  17. its funny you mention Bird proofing my winter house my wife and I own a wild bird store and we help people with this type of thing all the time. Bird poop washes off I’m not to worried about it right now but if it becomes an issue I’ll do something about it. it’s usually the Easter phoebe that is the problem for us but they are pretty easy to deal with. nice building and driveway good job 👍 . 20. Steve, I was able to get the TV working by selecting smartcast from the input on the remote. Now I am trying to figure out how to get the sound from the TV to be through the trailer speakers instead of from the TV speakers. Big learning curve! John

  21. I don't believe this was a hijack so much as a lack of understanding of the problem originally presented. Complicated issues sometime take a lot of sorting through to determine what might be actually going on and it's easy to get sidetracked by focusing on specific wording of a symptom. There have been a number of key points presented for both issues. It's easy for me to sift these out and follow the thread(s) because of my understanding of the systems involved, but I was hoping to point out that there are in fact two separate discussions going on and thereby avoid confusion going forward. Bill and Nancy's most recent reply at 1:30 on Thursday must have come in as I was typing my comment but this post does a lot to re-rail things for those that have been trying to follow the thread.

  23. By the way, I turned on the fridge and it didn’t work off of shore power. Reconnected shore power and it worked great. Disconnected shore power and it didn’t work. Called Oliver and they said look at the back of the 12 volt fuse panel under the dinette seat. As they predicted the top wire barrel connector was not hooked-up. Reconnected it and voilà, it’s working great off of shore power

  26. Indeed, I'm really glad the red one, jellybean, was adopted, and named,, by such great owners, @Bshafferalong the way. The very few of us who are still original owners (15 years later) have mostly kept up, and added mods. I'd say refreshed, as opposed to restored, as the frame and hull as are as good today, as they were on 2008/9. Brandi and her husband have had to catch up, but they've done such a beautiful job. Jellybean is not only adorable, but a great little piece of Ollie history . (And, so very cute.) (Ps A good number of the original owners of 2008/9 are still friends. It's an amazing kind of thing. Just got off the phone with Ollie friends in Minnesota. They are hull #30something. We sail and/or camp together, every year. The original lower 48, like me, Pete, Scubarx, are still hanging in there.) You never know what life brings, but it's often really great, if you are open to opportunities. I could write a much longer post on how my life has been enriched by camping, especially camping with our Ollie, and the friends we've made along the way, but I'll save it for another day, and another thread....

  27. I recommend the stainless steel spikes available through the link below: https://www.amazon.com/Spikes-Pigeons-Small-Stainless-Coverage/dp/B085CBNQFX/ref=asc_df_B085CBNQFX/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=475793236502&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11280687831360435102&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9029558&hvtargid=pla-1063130179122&psc=1 Why? We have an open truss design similar to your "winter home" on the front portico to our home. Those trusses have attracted nesting birds. We installed plastic bird spikes, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Deterrent-Outdoor-Pigeons-Squirrel-Outside-Brown/dp/B09WJVZ34X/ref=asc_df_B09WJVZ34X/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=598365509249&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11280687831360435102&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9029558&hvtargid=pla-1677722735497&psc=1 Last spring, a clever robin built her nest right on top of the plastic spikes, using them as structural support for the nest! So, next spring, I plan to replace the plastic spikes with stainless spikes. Lesson learned.

  28. Very pretty structure? Got power? “Mouse” is as always safely out of the weather, and there has been snow on the ground non-stop since mid November, I could not even get the leaves up or cut the grass and fertilize 😤😤😤 . I do not normally have to clear my back yard for the dogs to run, using the snow thrower, but I did it once already and it is not even winter yet… What is your typical snowfall in MA?
