Moderators topgun2 Posted September 28 Moderators Posted September 28 For the most part I don't really use the TV very often - But, when on my annual two month fly fishing trips sometimes I get back to the Ollie a bit tired - don't feel like reading but I know that I'll fall asleep if I start listening to an audio book. So, I bring along a number of DVD movies (very few times would I be in a location that has enough cell service to enable "streaming"). During the two months I'll watch maybe 4 or 5 movies. Steve Morris Posted September 28 Posted September 28 We've watched maybe a dozen YouTube videos since picking up Curiosity in March 2023, and have never watched any terrestrial TV or DVDs (I probably haven't watched a DVD in a decade! Why do I have a cabinet full of them. For that matter, I wonder where my home DVD player is...) So yea, I'd like to remove the television. Bill The few times when I have watched something while camping it has been on my tablet either streaming or downloaded before the trip. This doesn't limit me to sitting inside and I can watch/listen in front of the fire outside. Generally, I like to be able to listen to the night sounds in the background and enjoy the fire. Using ear buds keeps me from bothering anyone else if I'm not alone. 1 2021 Elite II Twin Bed Hull #1023 - Kimba | 2025 Ford F-350 6.7 Diesel

Ronbrink Posted September 29 Posted September 29 (edited) Loaded up our Winegard Carryout portable satellite antenna in the past with intent to watch TV, but much too cumbersome and a hassle so currently listed on FB Marketplace; and rarely camp where cable TV is provided. However, recent experience with the Starlink Mini setup to stream quality movies well justifies keeping the stock Jensen! Last week at Lake Mineral Wells SP, we were able to stream during a heavy downpour with no interference or disruption in viewing. The TV is a keeper! Dennis and Melissa Posted Friday at 03:05 PM Posted Friday at 03:05 PM We watch ours quite frequently before bed. Almost always something that I have downloaded on my iPhone via hdmi on the Furion. Works OK. Recently our adult son joined us for a few nights in Glacier National Park. (He has a stunningly good TV/audio system set up at his home.) We lay in our twin beds and all 6 ft of him in the dinette bed, two nights to watch movies. When his visit came to its inevitable end, we drove him to the airport. His parting words: “Thanks for having me. I loved the Ollie. But I am getting you a decent TV for Christmas” 🤣 1 1 2 2024 OLEII - Hull MDIV, born 3/13/24 Ram 1500 5.7L 8 cyl hemi, 4wd, max tow, air shocks, 6’4” box, crew cab

Like you, we watch after dinner/before bedtime, also watch some morning news. I strongly suggest the Samsung 32" M80 monitors! You son may approve! With amazing resolution looking 3D, they are white framed with the screen only 3/4" thick! You can also run HDMI to HDMI-Mini or USB-C from a laptop. Two+ years now, still wonderful. https://www.amazon.com/SAMSUNG-Monitor-Display-Samsung-LS32FM803UNXZA/dp/B0F5VR52WZ/ I also Bluetooth connect to noise-canceling headphones, for when Chris drifts off to sleep or when the Dometic A/C must be running LOUD! 🤣 For more info, check out my install linked above. It is only a monitor which is all you need for streaming. If you must connect to RV park cable or a TV antenna, you would also need something like this: https://www.amazon.com/ZJBOX-Converter-Adapter,2-Remote,TV-Recording/dp/B0CZR2HBGF/ 2 Chris & John in Prescott, AZ | 2016 EII #113 | '01 Ram 2500 Cummins!

Agree with @Wandering Sagebrush the Furion products are crap. It would take a deeply troubled mind to invent a system so difficult to use. Same goes for the Furion audio system, never use it more trouble than its worth. 1 1 Legacy Elite II #70
Moderators topgun2 Posted Saturday at 04:44 PM Moderators Posted Saturday at 04:44 PM 43 minutes ago, routlaw said: Agree with @Wandering Sagebrush the Furion products are crap. We all know just how "smart" AI is - but - here is what it has to say: Furrion TVs are generally considered good value for money, particularly for outdoor or RV use, offering strong weatherproofing and durability alongside good brightness and 4K picture quality for their price point. While they excel in their specialized applications with features like high-visibility displays and robust connectivity, they are best viewed as solid, cost-effective mid-tier smart TVs rather than premium, high-end models. Key Strengths Outdoor Durability: Furrion TVs are built to withstand harsh outdoor conditions, with various models offering different levels of weatherproofing (e.g., IP54 rated) and the ability to operate in a wide range of extreme temperatures. Brightness: They offer excellent brightness, especially their outdoor models, making them suitable for use in various lighting environments, including partial and even full sun. 4K UHD & Smart Features: Furrion TVs provide 4K Ultra High Definition images with rich contrast, and newer models feature smart capabilities for seamless streaming and Wi-Fi connectivity. Value & Affordability: Many reviews highlight Furrion TVs as a good value for the price, making them a cost-effective choice for upgrading home entertainment systems or RVs. Specialized Design: Many are designed for specific environments like RVs and campers, meaning they are "road-ready" and built to handle vibrations and extreme temperatures common in such applications. Considerations Picture Quality Comparison: While good, the picture quality is comparable to standard mid-tier TVs, rather than high-end technologies like OLED or QLED. Sound Quality: While improving with soundbars, built-in sound quality may not be as exceptional as that of an indoor, home-theater-focused TV. Weight: Some models, particularly the larger outdoor units, can be quite heavy, which is worth considering for installation. Specific Use Case: Furrion TVs are a great choice for outdoor or RV use, but for a high-end indoor home theater, a different brand might offer superior picture and sound quality. 2023 Ford F150 Lariat 3.5EB FX4 Max Towing, Max Payload, 2016 Oliver Elite II - Hull #117 "Twist" Near Asheville, NC
Dennis and Melissa Posted Saturday at 05:00 PM Posted Saturday at 05:00 PM I have a general rule for all things digital: “In 3 years something twice as good will cost half as much” So I try to avoid paying extra for anything that is “integrated” with my “durable” purchases. No built in anything at home. Same with vehicles (when possible). This would have been a seriously easy choice for me if it had been an option at time of purchase. No permanent audio visual in the fancy tent!!! 😂. Just bring the current version of IPhone or MacBook or whatever floats your boat. Next summer bring the upgrade.
