  1. A few years ago, topgun2 created a filter for his MaxxFan that I really liked, but the frame material he used was no longer available. Although this is my version below, it is similar to his. So I kept it in the back of my mind and often looked at different materials to create my own. I tried some vinyl channel that was used in shower glass installations, but it was too flexible. My next version was metal channel that I am unsure of it’s purpose, it worked pretty well, but I kept cutting my hands on the mitered corners. Then I found some plastic or PVC channel at Lowe’s while shopping for PVC lumber and it worked pretty well. This is the frame material from Lowe’s. I removed the round screen filter and stored it somewhere I might be able to find or maybe not. I measured the fan frame and cut the channel to size. Then I cut some sheet aluminum into triangles and glued up the frame using the triangles for corner supports. Then the filter material was cut to size and inserted into the slot and then Velcro Command picture hanging strips were used to hold the filter frame to the MaxxFan frame. This resulted in gaps between the frames which I filled with leftover filter material. The result is a removable filter that can be washed and reused and the fan blades require less cleaning. He recently saw my version and asked me to post it for you to see it and improve upon for your own needs. Mossey

  2. We're excited for just ordering an LE1! We'll pick it up next Feb 2022. Until then, enjoying another camping season in our truck camper while dreaming about the Ollie. In researching fiberglass TTs, we stopped at Oliver because of the obvious high quality. We had a 25' AS and downsized to a Northern Lite which we love. However, looking forward to dropping hitch at camp and running around unencumbered. TV is a Ford F250 super duty. Also considering an appropriate tow SUV (to replace a 10-yr-old Toyota RAV4) for shorter trips. Safe travels everyone, and maybe we'll see you down the road! Sherry and Patty

  3. I was able to reuse the Zamp CC hole to mount the display/RPi with industrial Velcro. The wall thickness blocks two of the four USB ports and I would probably separate the display and RPi which would allow access all four USB ports. I have taken a peak at the tank sensor issue and there is some mention of the SeeLevel sensors on the the Victron support pages, but the Venus software is provided by Victron free of charge and it is open source they do not provide much development on non Victron products. If SeeLevel tank sensors are supported, it seems like it will be done by the Victron community. I seem to remember some talk about an interface between the Victron and SeeLevel sensors, but I am not positive. I will work on a parts list of the products I used instead of what I bought. I'm not very good at planning so I generally bump my head a lot as I work through issues. So I purchased some items I didn’t use and some items that I would have needed with a CCGX or Cerbo GX installation, like VE.Direct to USB Interfaces.

  4. I have 10 7" wire tethers that I saved from some shop lites that I used for a front access hatch lid tether. I replaced one of the flange mounting screws with a nut, bolt and washer and I used a self tapping screw and washer on the lid. I brought them to the 2019 rally for a swap meet that I don’t think happened and they will be with me at the non-rally. Mossey

  5. @John E Davies Thanks for mentioning the LE1 in the classifieds. I contacted the owner and decided to purchase new with the options I had planned on. Here's a pic of our Northern Lite...

  6. Also check the bath window. A surprising amount of water can get in through there if it’s left open.

  7. Is the bathroom fan closed? Could this be rain water?

  8. It has reached the stage in my life where getting to stuff on top of my truck is more of a challenge, and lifting myself up onto the rear tire is a whole lot harder. This purchase was prompted by a fall from there, I was wearing hiking hoots with aggressive soles and one got caught in the (mud) tire tread instead of sliding free and it literally flipped me over onto my back. It is super steady (on level ground), has a neat stabilizing rail/ grab bar, an unusually broad top step, and it provides an ideal 30 inch height for accessing a truck roof. That duplicates my 33 inch tall tire without the tip-over potential😬 Plus it is only 1.75” wide when folded, so storage is a non issue in a typical SUV, where space is valuable. It fits in that wasted space between the generator and side trim, without blocking. I can pop the bungee cord off and simply slide it out. Delxo Aluminum 3 Step Ladder,2020 Upgrade Lightweight Folding Step Stool with Long Handle, Anti-Slip Sturdy Pedal, Classic Wood Look Without Wood Worry Step Ladder, Hold Up to 330LB I paid $87. I wish it were available in silver, the black and faux wood will get scarred up pretty fast. Otherwise, highly recommended! My wife wants one for the kitchen now. It will fit in that narrow slot between the fridge and the wall. BTW the cargo box is a Yakima Skybox Lo Carbonite, it allows me to get the rig into my garage with the box in place (7 foot door). It is a little cramped vertically, but my two ARB chairs, two MaxTrax, flagpole, and lots of small soft stuff fit into it easily. Just no milk crates. 🙄 Even with no fairing and round crossbars it is pretty quiet on the highway due to the pebbled texture. With the tailgate down and the hatch closed, it is easy to stand in back for rear access. John Davies Spokane WA

  9. It is really a riot how exiting the anticipation of finally getting your Ollie is. My wife and I ordered our LE2 last September and we pick up hull number 836 on June 30th. Meanwhile we have been on the forum almost every day gaining as much knowledge as we can from the wonderful community. We have one whole spare bedroom dedicated to the gigantic pile of stuff that we will outfit the Ollie with. The vast majority of the items came from suggestions we see on the forum. We are left coasters so our trip to pick up is close to 2500 miles. We have had that trip booked and planned out for months. Mike and Pam

  10. Ah, so it is a touchscreen, just not Victron's - I get it now. I thought you were saying that it was just a display. It sounds like you've got exactly what you'd have with the CCGX or Victron's touch control, so, awesome! The CCGX is fine, no complaints, but the touch screen (both yours and Victron's) is larger and I imagine easier to use rather than the clicky buttons. I'd prefer the touch for sure, but it would be a big expense relative to what I'd gain. Plus I've got a big hole where the CCGX is now, so I'd have to figure out what to do with it. Then again, if I can do it with a Raspberry Pi for not much money, and get a screen big enough to cover the hole.... Can you list what parts you bought? I can think of two or three people here who might be interested in following your lead. Have you given any thought to replacing the tank sensors so that they work with the Victron? I think about it every now and then but have never looked into what it takes - I just know that the SeaLevel sensors are proprietary and won't work with the Victron.

  11. Geo, have you ever tried 'burping' the tank when it's at 80% and full? Try changing the angle of the trailer with the jacks at that point and see if you don't hear some gurgling and suddenly get extra space in the tank. Ours does the same, but once you burp it, it will go past 100 before any water shows up in the shower pan. A couple of other people have said the same, and I think it's a weird issue with the venting. Usually 80% is about where we need to tilt back the trailer to get to the remaining fresh water anyway.

  12. My grey tank is full @ 80% reading since purchasing my 2017 Oliver. I think a good test when getting a new Oliver is level the trailer and fill up the grey tank, watch when it starts trying to backup from the shower drain. Notice the reading you now know your grey tank levels. I also every once in a while will keep it over 50% and drive to next camping site hoping the drive will help clean the tank.

  15. Welcome, are you aware that there is a nearly new LE1 in the Classifieds here that you could drive home from TN next week? https://olivertraveltrailers.com/forums/topic/5369-2021-elite-1-—-60000-firm-—-serious-inquiries-only-please-—-loaded-with-options/ I am a big fan of Northern Lites, though I never owned one, post a pic of your current one please! 16. Just a little fly-in-the-ointment, please realize that at the end of a particular model year, as supplies run out of select items that are destined to be upgraded in the next year model, some of the next year upgrades may appear in the last few previous year models produced. We have the last 2018 produced and I believe there are a couple of 2019 features included. These would generally be minor changes though.

  17. John, If you drop anchor here in Berryville, you can simply drive east of us for about 35-40 minutes and get on the metro rail system that will take you right into DC. No traffic or parking worries. For that matter, if we're around, I'd be glad to take you into the metro stop and pick you up whenever you got back. You also need to visit the Smithsonian's Air and Space museum complex on the grounds of Dulles Airport. IAD is a easy drive from here. It's about 15 miles west of DC lodged between us and the District.

  18. I prefer my multipurpose, strong as nails, self defense throwing spike, the ever popular 90 cent landscape nails at Home Depot. They don't require a brass hammer, break rocks, and if lost are easily found by the next guy. And, they don't require oiling for at least 15 years! However, I have found that by wearing red sketchers they are an eye catcher. But most wise campers don't generally comment when I have half dozen of these in my nail belt.

  21. The 1st thing to check is the drain value next to the toilette front wall of the bathroom. Pulled out is open, push in is closed. Should be out in storage so the drain is open. It keeps gray water in the tank from sloshing up into the shower pan when traveling. Any water going down drains backs up quickly if it is shut. If your gray tank is full, you probably do not want to drop any just on the ground at the storage facility. It is frowned upon in most places. The outlet is in the rear bumper and the value behind the hatch that also contains the outside shower. The question would be why the water in the shower when stowed? (Unless you ran some while working in the trailer.

  22. I believe I can do anything that the standard CCGX or the Cerbo GX and GX Touch can do. Since I have never had a chance to play with a CCGX, I’m not really sure. And I only have a MPPT CC and a BMV, so I can only see the DC side of things. You tell me if it looks like any functionality is missing. The missing data is while out camping as I don’t have any connectivity without WiFi and my storage solution didn’t work, so it’s back to the drawing board. Mossey

  26. I don't understand! What is all the fuss. I use a heavy thick black grease - just goop it on, smear it around real well - and then use a torque wrench with Loong bar with a special tool end to tighten and take off. Works beery beery well. 😵 NO wait - that was a dream/nightmare - neverminded. Still recovering from that Russian pop music fiasco......

  27. Our Zip Dee Chairs are close to 25 + years old and we are still using them everytime we go camping. We did however just get new Dark Blue Sunbella covers for them to match our Oliver's new color scheme. Since we wouldn't leave home without them, we had to find a convenient place to store them. The attached pics shows our Chair Holder, which also holds our umbrellas inside the closet. The first pic shows just the Holder & umbrellas, second pic show the Holder with 1 chair, the third pic show the Holder with 2 chairs and the Sink's Cutting Board slide next to the chair. The original plan was to use Velcro to hold the Holder to the Closet's wall, but it fit snugly without velcro. I put a little Teak Oil on the Wood Arms Pads and Waxed the SS Frame, they look new, good for at least another 25 years. BTW, these chairs are the most comfortable chairs we have ever used. Now onto the next items on the "Honey Do List," a Bike Rack-Teak Table (with ComPass Rose) for the Dinette, Teak Pantry & Microwave Counter, and of course finish the Teak Nightstand Pull Out Table, just to mention a few!

  28. One of the features we like about the EL2 Twin Bed layout is the ability to sit in the "Stateroom" and enjoy the 180 degree views through the windows while having something to eat or drink. Of course you need a table to do this, i.e. a Lagna Table is one solution. We decided to try another approach, but will keep the Lagna Table option as a Backup alternative. The attached picture shows the prototype (not the final finished model.) I wanted to try this idea to see if it was feasible before I committed to more expensive wood etc. Our plans are to add a "Nautical Theme" to our Oliver, i.e. Teak Table Tops with Compass Roses etc. This pictures shows our inexpensive Pull Out Table made out of 1/2 inch plywood with Teak Trim. So far it has exceeded our expectations, although maybe a little small to have a meal at.

  29. Doubling the space is nice, but I find that without the walls, the space is even bigger. We added this 1.6 million acre outside room just this past fall. Very easy to set up. Seriously, though, I believe that @ScubaRx used to have the Fiamma outdoor room, which seemed pretty nice. Maybe they still do. I suspect that to make one worth the effort of setting up and taking down, you have to be in one spot for a while and in conditions that warrant an enclosure. A simpler solution for windy conditions or for privacy, is just a sun screen across the front. We travel with one, though admittedly have only used it a few times. Again, it's rarely worth the trouble of setting up. Plus it blocks the views.

  30. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" I have not been in a state or a Providence that I have not found places that were interesting or that we have not enjoyed. Now I do pick and choose the time of year to visit Death Valley is far more attractive to me with a Feb. superbloom that July heat wave. Now Big cities and traffic are not my thing so I will drive miles around Chicago , New York etc. we do enjoy the differences. Thanks Gary
