Howdy everyone! We are Steve and Cindy from Houston. We have been researching Olivers for quite a while, and Josh gave us a fantastic factory tour several weeks ago. I'm happy to report that we have put down our deposit on a Legacy Elite II for a February '22 delivery! What a beautiful machine to enjoy in our empty-nester years! The forums have been a great source for information, and we look forward to digging through more of your great tips and stories as we await our new arrival.3 points

I do this virtually every year. Some of the best trout streams and lakes require a backpack. The way I figure it - if I'm going to hike four or more miles into a spot, fish all day and then hike another five or so miles back out, why not just take the tent and sleeping bag with me? I can be a bit more relaxed as to the time I get to the trailhead, hike in, set up camp all in a relaxed manner. Fish a bit in the afternoon and/or evening and get a good night's sleep. The next day I can fish in the morning, pack up camp and take a relaxing stroll back out - or, decide to stay another night or two if it suits me. No crowds, no hurry, fish that rarely (if ever) see an artificial fly and nature. For me, it doesn't get much better than that. Bill3 points

Ralph Mawyer, I simply just replaced the light. I ordered two new replacement touch lights from Oliver. One for my galley sink and one over our burners is acting like it may need replacing as well. It does not work as consistently as the new replacement does. Contacted Mike at service and he shipped them to us USPS. The new light over the galley was easily replaced and I am waiting for the one over the burner to quit before replacing it. I spliced the wires and used electrical tape and heat shrink tubing to secure the connections. The new light works perfect. Stating the obvious here, it was a quick and straight forward fix. We’ll see how long these replacements last. -Patriot3 points

Maybe at the next non-non rally (aka real rally or Oliver rally or ....) we can arrange a intro to fly fishing? Its really not that hard - ask ShallowGal! Remember - trout don't live in ugly places (for the most part). Bill2 points

Hello, My wife and I will be joining the community of Oliver owners in August. This is our first trailer (had a Westfalia for many years), we need to finalize our build sheet and although our minds are set on the options we want there is one we are still debating and that is the electrical group, our first choice was the Lithium Pro package (400 AH batteries) but now I see that we can opt for the Lithium Platinum package (630 AH). Your opinions, experiences are welcome on the pros and cons of such systems. We are looking at doing a mix of boon docking and and sometime regular campings but are not full time RVers. Looking forward to your input. Regards, Serge1 point

We just put our deposit down for a LEII and its expected in Feb. We are super excited to get our Ollie and we look forward to meeting those in this family!! I've owned a couple trailers since 2000 so I'm not new to camping but my Mrs. on the other hand.......... 🙂 We are down sizing from a Grand Design Imagine 30' TT which was a great trailer and company. We are looking to do more boondocking and the over build quality of the Ollies is undeniable and was one of the main things that attracted us. We went a couple weeks ago to see an Ollie in person and we were both very surprised (in a good way), loved the layout and that was pretty much all we needed to call Phil and place our deposit. Cheers, JJ1 point

We picked up our camper on Friday of last week (March 19th 2021), and after a fairly long day of questions, tutorials, etc we set out on the Natchez Trace for our first night at Davey Crockett, followed by heading back north to where we are now, and will stay until Easter. Thanks to everyone who has answered my questions over the past year or so. Every one of your answers has helped my wife and I (and our dog valentine) get to this point and we love our camper so far.1 point

For whatever reason, I can download your file, but I can't open it. Could you post screenshots instead, please? Thanks1 point

We talked with head of service department today. Basically Oliver has decided that they will not be providing wiring diagrams for our 2021 at this time. Oliver feels it would be a liability issue to do so. Lets hope in the future that Oliver will reconsider. Maybe if those purchasing 2022 and future models pursue requesting the wiring diagrams, Oliver will review this subject again.1 point

A roll of butyl tape and the window is back in. On a side note when removing the inner shell of the window I noticed six of the ten screws were broken off and not really holding the two halves together. Looks like a combination of cheap screws and a heavy handed electric driver on the screws. I wonder how many of the other widows are the same. I did have one screw head fall out on my dinette window. Thanks for all your responses.1 point

As an update, I am now entering day six of this trip. Several cloudy days, one with rain. My rooftop panels face east, but they're bifacial, so I get a little boost off the gleaming white roof, I think, in the afternoon sun. No generator, so far. Full (100 per cent charge) somewhere between 11 am and 1 pm, weather dependant. Cool nights, not cold, means the fridge doesn't run as much, and no furnace. Just the vent fan when it warms up in the sun, or I'm cooking inside. I'll take it. And, I'll update as we go along. So far, 18 days, one day needed genset. Remember those torrential rains, two days in a row, a few weeks back? Me, too. Needed the gen. We'll be camping a lot this summer and fall, so I'll figure it out. Extra solar is pretty cheap these days . Lithium isn't1 point

UPDATE: After completing what must be the 4th pass through at greasing the chassis I learned a few things: 1. The 90 degree coupler is worth the cost - really helps - esp with the wheels not removed, even with the wheels removed, You can actually do a good job with just the rear removed. Got all 9 on each side.............. 2. Taking weight off the assembly (wheels off) seems to allow for better grease penatration. As a little more grease oozes out once its back to normal. 3. My brakes look great - didn't measure them but to the untrained eye - maybe 3/4 life left - lets say 1/2 for safety sake. 18K miles. When we return - it will bearing repack time - will really take a close look at the stoppers at that point. Don't forget to at minimum to visually check the bolts/nuts/connections down and around there. I put a wrench on them last time - all were good. And did I mention - for some reason - this is harder than it once was - can't figure out why though..... RB (did you catch it 😆)1 point

Hi. My husband and I are looking in to getting our first camper and have fallen in love with the Oliver Elite II. We have only seen it on YouTube and would like some reviews from you guys. We currently live in Sweden but are hoping to retire in a few years and then spend 6 months on the road in the States and 6 months in Sweden. Have you got any advice for what we should think about when it comes to full time even living in an Oliver?1 point

We've gone with switchless lights in our house (Philips Hue) and once the bugs were worked out, they've been pretty awesome . For the most part we never think about them. Light just happens. But in the trailer I think I want something tactile. A good switch feels nice. Feels like you've done something. I'd love to replace mine with these:1 point

RV magazine has just released their "Guide to Towing" in the latest issue (June, 2021). Try looking HERE for a start. Bill1 point

The floor under the toilet (the raised section) is an inch thick, with the rest being ½". It's extremely sturdy, and in fact I've cut out a 9" x 10" opening under the toilet for easier access to the space below with no flex whatsoever in the floor (that's where I store extra bags of peat for the toilet). You definitely do not need reinforcement. My toilet was attached by Oliver with four screws into the ½" areas of the floor and it seems perfectly solid. I think it would be possible, with ample patience and dexterity, to bolt through if you wanted, depending on how much of a gap there is between the black tank and the floor. I've pulled my black tank out, but if I remember correctly I think the gap was bout an inch.1 point

For some reason we took a tent, and a few other remnants of the "time before Ollie" and finally made the break and left them home the last few trips. The interesting thing is with the GMC and the Leer top - it is not much to have most of the comforts without Ollie in tow. Now having said that - you may have prompted me to throw in the tent and a few pads - really open up the possibilities. I have a new tent - well it is years old - but it needs a good shakedown. OK then It is the Journey - so 72 it will be - across northern AL/Miss and on across the mighty Mississippi. I-40 is now just so - yesterday...... Still 4AM seems the best time to tackle the scrum of the I -55 bridge. RB Remembering TBO1 point

Ralph - I happen to know that Patriot had many of the symptoms you are describing with his kitchen lights. You may want to send him a PM (private message) in this regard. Bill1 point

Hi, and welcome aboard! We have family in Houston, and friends all over Texas. Great state for exploration. Tons of state and Iocal parks. Lots of folks here to answer your questions. You have time. Start digging into Oliver University videos, would be my suggestion. Again, welcome!1 point

Hey Steve and Cindy, welcome and congrats on your upcoming Oliver! I’m sure you’ll have questions these next months before you pick up so ask away! Our son and family lived for many years in Houston (Spring, then the Heights) before relocating to Durango. We also have a niece and nephew still in Houston. The number of Texas owners keeps increasing! Mike1 point

Several good suggestions for long term fix. I carry a roll of white weather proof duct tape in my travel kit when we are away from home. I have found also from window track leaks that keeping the windows/trailer level is very helpful in preventing water intrusion.1 point

I agree with SeaDawg. I used two layers of butyl tape. I folded each strip of tape in half, length wise and installed one on the inner edge of the outside flange and one outer edge. After installation, I left the window in the sun for a couple of days and trimmed the very little excess off with a plastic razor blade and left it. I think it looks much cleaner without caulk and there really isn't any exposed edge needing sealed. Andrew1 point

Are you talking about caulking around the window, after install? Don't use 3m 4000 to install/bed.. Use a good quality butyl. 3m 4000 uv is fine for caulk. Not bedding, imo. It's really tough to remove, which someday you will probably have to do. Easier with a heat gun and plastic scraper. Let the butyl rest a day or two, trim, with a plastic blade . Then caulk. With butyl, it's mostly just to protect the exposed edge from uv. Or, you "could " do like most of the world, and bed with clear silicon. I hate that too, but it works. I'm not a silicon fan, because of the hassle in cleaning it up years later.1 point

Guess I’ll have to break the news to Jason shortly, but I jumped at the opportunity to acquire Jay’s immaculate 2020 Hull 645 listed in the Classifieds, originally delivered last May, right before the factory shut down for Covid. Mike and Carol allowed us to check out their 2017, so while I would have loved my 2022 on order, getting this now got me an additional season of usage, which at my age is worth a bit. 😉 As his listing noted, it was truly turnkey and virtually new. First night is boondocking at a Cracker Barrel on the 1000 mile trip back to San Antonio. Colorado in July. Ralph @ San Antonio1 point

Hello from CT. We are Jeff and Katie. Just a few weeks away from our delivery date in mid May of an Oliver Elite II. First time owning a travel trailer so we've been doing a lot of reading on the forum. We took a couple of years researching other brands and made our final decision after taking the Oliver factory tour. Cant wait to join this group and get out on the road this year.1 point

We're excited for just ordering an LE1! We'll pick it up next Feb 2022. Until then, enjoying another camping season in our truck camper while dreaming about the Ollie. In researching fiberglass TTs, we stopped at Oliver because of the obvious high quality. We had a 25' AS and downsized to a Northern Lite which we love. However, looking forward to dropping hitch at camp and running around unencumbered. TV is a Ford F250 super duty. Also considering an appropriate tow SUV (to replace a 10-yr-old Toyota RAV4) for shorter trips. Safe travels everyone, and maybe we'll see you down the road! Sherry and Patty1 point

Hello everyone! We did it! Just put our deposit down on an Elite ll. We'll pick it up in Feb. We will be stopping to tour the facility the first week in May on our way to the Red river gorge. After spending 5 months traveling in our class A 30 ft we decided to go smaller. We will be towing it with our 2018 nv 3500 4x4. Has the pop top so still room for when the grandkids come along. Really excited about this forum and hoping to learn alot here. Looking forward to a western states rally in the future! We are a bit new to the forum and social media thing.... hope the picture is allowed.1 point

Just wanted to say "Hello" and thank everyone for providing such great resources at our fingertips. I've already learned quite a bit by browsing through the threads. Hope to one day have my own Oliver Trailer.1 point

This is true, around the world. And, it's really sad. I've found, and cleaned up crap, in free or cheap campsites in Australia, USA, Canada, Iceland, etc . You'd think people would appreciate and respect what they are given, but, noooo. The lower the fee, or free, the more work I usually expect to do on arrival.0 points
