  1. We would like to introduce ourselves to the family! We recently purchased hull 049 and can't wait to meet more of you on the road. We have been members for awhile and we have noticed Ollie owners are very helpful and caring people. One of the reasons leading to our purchase. RunninOnMt we're people that fall into that category. They took the time to show their trailer and answer all our questions. We can't thank them enough. We hope to pay it forward In the future. Wishing everyone a happy and safe holidays. Josh and Piney.

  4. Are your issues when you are not plugged in to shore power? Does everything work when you have shore power? Without knowing what components your trailer has it is hard to diagnose. Your microwave should need 120V to operate, so it won’t work off of your batteries unless you have your inverter on. The AC blower is the same. Your 12V things should work fine if your batteries are charged, but the 120V things need either shore power or the inverter. Mike

  5. Our trailer is 7 years old. No ceramic. I wash after each trip and wax 2 or 3 times a years. Still looks pretty good. I’m thinking I’ll do the ceramic thing sometime in the near future. Just have to find a window when we’re not out and about. Mike

  6. Before you go if it's not too late, I have a few comments and suggestions on things to try or at least narrow things down some. 1. Regarding the furnace fuse: This same 12 volt circuit powers the thermostat, directly from inside the furnace. If the thermostat display is lite up and functional, you've eliminated the fuse as a possible source of a problem. 2. Voltage: The furnace is designed to be functional when voltage is above a minimum of 9.5 volts. Based on your reported battery voltages, this isn't the issue and you should get some sign of life if the thermostat is calling for heat. 3. When everything is functioning normally, the first thing you should hear when the thermostat calls for heat is the furnace blower coming on, even if there is no gas getting to the furnace. Gas supply isn't in the equation, yet. If the blower doesn't come on, the list of causes isn't long but is somewhat dependent on the specific version furnace you have. There are basically two generations of internal controls for the Suburban model installed in early LEIIs. I'm not sure which one was being used in 2016, but the following suggestions should generally apply to either. Turn on the thermostat and set it to Furnace mode with a Set Temperature somewhat above the current temperature inside the trailer. With your ear close to the open front air outlet on the A/C overhead, turn the thermostat off and on slowly a few times and listen for a slight click sound each time. This click sound will tell you if an attempt is being made to send the thermostat request for heat to the furnace. Note that this instruction more specifically apply to the CCC2 model thermostat I believe your trailer has. (round display with discrete buttons on the left). If it is a square CT model, you may need a second person to adjust this procedure for the fiddly touch control, one to listen while the other operates. If the clicking isn't audible each time skip the rest of this paragraph. Otherwise, your next step will be at the furnace under the curbside bunk. Leave the thermostat On and set as before. Using a shoe or similar "tool", smack the top side corner edges of the furnace case a few times. (The term "smack"' is the technical description for and implies an abrupt force somewhere between a gentle tap and brutal pounding) The object here is to vibrate free a potentially stuck relay or switch dependent on the generation of furnace control. If the steps above don't get positive results, you're going to need that help for some more in depth analysis and repair. If the furnace does come to life during one of the above steps however, you may still require some help to replace either: 1. The thermostat controller in the A/C overhead. 2. The furnace blower motor time-delay relay, or air flow sail switch, again depending on which control the furnace has. Good luck.

  9. Our TV paint is completely covered with XPEL.com 8 mil paint protection. It really maintains a nice shine and protects the paint from road rash nicks and dings etc. It’s also completely ceramic coated which does not mean maintenance free. A little easier to wash yes. I use a ceramic fusion spray every third or fourth wash to maintain the ceramic coating glossy shine. It is highly recommended that a PH neutral car wash soap be used when washing a ceramic coated vehicle to extend the life of the CC. To keep our CC looking it’s best for the long haul there is a little additional elbow work involved to keep it looking great and shedding water at least in my experience. (Link below) We are going to continue to maintain our Ollie with simple washing and waxing. After long trips we typically give our Ollie a good detail after we arrive back home and so far this has worked really well for us. We have found all XPEL products work extremely well. https://www.xpel.com/ceramic-coating-fusion-plus Patriot 🇺🇸

  11. Soooo, I spoke with the head honcho at the link. Background is that my light bar works perfect till my headlights are on. Then the turn signals get crazy glitchy. Turns out that it's a common Ford problem but can happen with any vehicle that has "modern conveniences" such as blind spot monitoring (which is deactivated when trailer is attached) and the only fix is to hard wire. There is a bar light that is made by one company that will work in plug-and-play mode but it is (drum roll) $300. Does have a 3 year warrantee which, from my research, is three times the average working light of even good bars. Crazy! Seems like the solution is following John's excellent set up or spending a pile of $ and tossing my current bar on the trash heap. John's fix and instructions are, as usual, fantastic but I am intimidated by drilling a through hole and doing the electric work. Etrailer carries a set of running/turn lights that terminate in a standard 4 pin connector which the claim will play nice with the Ford. Not as good a solution as a 60" bar but I may give it a go.

  15. It is no surprise to me that tax-driven enforcement measures are being taken in California. As the linked article states: "In the county’s eyes, hosts are not paying the appropriate transient occupancy taxes."

  16. I live in a "planned community" that, similar to most of these "associations", has a long list of rules and regulations. Most of these rules and regulations I agree with, but, there are a number of them that I think are silly, too restrictive, poorly worded, and/or just plain wrong. Never-the-less, I do my best to know what the rules are and abide by them all. It is incumbent upon me to know the rules and make sure that I stay inside them - just the same as it is with any rule or law in my area. Even though I may or may not agree with the laws governing "camping" at these Harvest Host sites it apparently is a fact that these laws are being broken. So, the alternative is to either abide by the law or get active in getting the law changed. Claiming a lack of knowledge of the law is not a valid excuse - but - it certainly is worth a try at least the first time you are caught 😇. Bill

  22. Obvious question. Are you sure the thermostat is set to heat and the temperature set to a higher temperature than outside? You might want to consider buying a small electric heater to get by until the furnace is working.

  27. Without a volt ohm-meter (VOM) you are just drifting in the wind. You need to be able to check voltages and do some basic electrical troubleshooting. We cannot do that for you from across the country. You cannot go wrong with this excellent one, it is perfect for RV use. YIRU UNI-T UT210 Series True RMS Digital Clamp Meter AC/DC Voltage Tester with ohm, Capacitance Measurement If you are not comfortable doing that, you need to hire a pro. John Davies Spokane WA

  28. It would help if you would add details about your trailer and systems. From previous posts, I "think " you have lithionics lithuum batteries. Is your inverter turned on?

  29. No surprise, as we'd brought other vehicles in, and looked ahead to the taxes and fees. It is what it is. As @Katjo said, what can you do... not much.

  32. You may not want to push your new custom mattress dimensions to the absolute maximum. If you’re ordering the optional hypervent mat from Oliver for ventilation under the mattresses to prevent condensation & mildew, there are also sections of the hypervent mat that go between the outer sides of the mattress and the fiberglass wall of the trailer. You have to leave some room for those sections of the hypervent mat, ~1”. That’s why the mattress dimensions Oliver shows are slightly smaller than the absolute max space available.

  33. @Geronimo John Oh, it's real! Get a flashlight, and go stand next to the farthest tree out back. We'll chase 'em your way. 😉 But seriously, yes, this is how we do it all the time. Toss in entire ear of corn, and cook on high for four minutes times number of ears. Then chop off the stem end and squeeze the corn out from the other end. Almost no silk left, and perfect every time. As you've likely figured already, serving more than a few ears takes considerable time. You can cheat a little, cooking six ears 20 minutes, but not a lot less. More than that, we report to traditional boiling. This was the guy that became famous for figuring it out.

  34. The attic and the storage compartment above the rear window are one in the same thing. Not being familiar with your Ollie - mine is a bunch older - are you sure that you're not confusing the little switch on the cable antenna booster box? The cable not connected to anything is most likely the other end of the satellite cable and is used to connect to a satellite decoder box. Bill

  35. On our Ollie, that cable in the attic comes directly from the external “satellite” port on the outer hull. It is for connecting an external portable satellite antenna to a satellite receiver that you would locate in the attic. The external “cable” port on the outer hull goes directly to the TV. The switch you mentioned that other owners have is part of the optional TV antenna package that Oliver offers as an extra cost upgrade. If you didn’t get the optional TV antenna package you won’t have that switch.
