  1. Well, these new hoses went on in a snap. No leaks now. I did need to rotate the tanks 90 degrees so the lines fit best. We'll see if they last another six years.

  5. As a "small" update - Jason (W) was working on the issues involved this past week but was hampered a bit by the lack of personnel at our platform company. Thanks to all those interested in Oliver and the Forum for their patience while we look for a viable solution that is not simply a Band-Aid/ Bill

  6. For the Shurflo Revolution 4008 water pump, Pentair specifies a maximum inlet pressure of 30 psi. The video procedure should include mention of using a pressure regulator but a safer approach to flushing the pump might be to isolate it from the tank and use fresh water drawn from a jug at the rear inlet.

  7. FYI the cheap “bullet” regulator does indeed protect from high pressure, but it also restricts the water flow. A full flow adjustable one is much better in the long run. John Davies Spokane WA

  8. You raise an excellent point. I can't comment on the physics, but I have found Jason Essary to be THE source of reliable information on Oliver Travel Trailers. As he recommends attaching pressurized water to the rear inlet port, and then turning the water pump on, I plan to do just as he instructs in the video when dewinterizing my Elite II. It would be prudent to place the water pressure regulator supplied by Oliver on the inlet side of the water hose, just as you should do when attaching a hose to the City Water port, to ensure that the input water pressure is not too high.

  9. Knowing we owed zero sales tax in Tenn on the purchase, we went over to our local DMV and got an estimate on our approximate sales tax, and registration and property tax fees. This allowed us to have our payment to the DMV ready once we returned home to register our Ollie.

  10. When the bots hit it really didn't take long to see that they had found a way around the usual safeguards that were built into the platform we use. Quickly, Jason (W.) and Matt (D) went into find a solution mode - but - with the holidays not only did they have limited resources at Oliver but the software people at the platform were also down to a skeleton staff. Meanwhile, as a number of members noted, several of the moderator staff were "very" busy playing "whack a bot". That's when it was decided to simply close new registrations through the Christmas holidays and get back at finding a better solution once people were back at work with at least a somewhat "normal" schedule. Since many companies are also giving employees Christmas Monday off (December 26) I assume that any "serious" work in this regard will not begin until Tuesday (December 27). Past experience has shown that these people are very good and I would think that it will not take more than a few days to get to the bottom of what's going on. Certainly, everyone will be advised when we are once again "open for business". Bill p.s. of course, in the mean time, non-members can still see posts on the Forum. They can not see Classifieds nor can they add posts of their own but all other things are available to them.

  11. As some of you may already know CGI Detailing will be in Florida again come late January. We will be attending the 2023 RV SuperShow along side Glidecoat (Our Ceramic Coating Company) We will be at Glidecoat's booth on the 20th and 21st hopefully talking to some of you guys but none the less meeting some amazing people in the RV community. With that being said, we will also be planning to apply some ceramic coatings as well. If anyone is interested in getting their Oliver Ceramic Coated in Florida please visit our website and submit a quote request so we can contact you https://www.cgidetailing.com/ As for pricing, we start at $2,800 for the LE2 and $2,000 for the LE1. There will be a travel fee added to the price as well which will be divided evenly between each person, the more we have the cheaper the travel fee will be. We appreciate everyones ongoing support over the past year and are truly blessed to be where we are at today. Thank You!

  12. We’re in site 29, level, large great views. All the sites look similar. I glanced at 23 when we walked down to the rest room. Looks good. We are close to the rest rooms/showers which are new and nice. We’re only here overnight but plan on a longer stay on our way home. It’s a small campground, only 29 sites but worth stopping at if you’re traveling I-10. It’s about 10 miles south of the freeway and Deming. Happy New Year!

  13. Greetings All -- On Friday I had the pleasure of showing off my beautiful Oliver to some prospective buyers, who were sent my way by the Oliver team. I highly recommended that they join the Forum to learn more about the options and systems and to meet the community. They really seem to love the Oliver. They have a camper van and have decided to switch gears. Now I see that new registrations are blocked for a while, to deal with Spam and Bot issue. That's all understandable -- but there's no way to ask on that thread (now closed): Is there any estimate of time before new registrations will be allowed? I'd like to let them know. And shame on me for not being online lately. I've been absent for a while! I'm still in recovery mode from Hurricane Ian, and spending a lot of time helping clients and friends who are severely impacted. Thankfully I had moderate damage to my abode, and my Oliver escaped without any damage at all. Merry Christmas to All!

  14. I'm sure you have done the geometry already, but just a reminder as it bit me: Being on a hillside generally results in an angled driveway leading into the flat garage floor. If backing uphill, that angle change will cause the rear of our trailer to "tilt up" as you back it in. In my case I needed an additional 6" of door and ceiling when backing Ollie into the Ollie Cave. Another reason to go for the 12' tall garage door and really tall inside ceiling height. GJ

  15. In Arizona, it's state, county and city sales taxes (unless buying from a private party aka previous owner), plus the insurance costs AND your Arizona license plate. The Arizona license plate for our 2020 cost us $825. You can imagine what a new Class A license plate would cost! Charlie.

  18. I'm catching up on some reading, I know this from a few months back, but @Ron and Phyllis it's great to hear someone else enjoying the Elite I like we do. We use the beds the same way. We do use the side bed in a permanent setup like @David Purkey was considering. I hope that is working out well. We find we enjoy not having to setup/change the beds daily. And we have pillows that allow us to use either the back area as a lounge area for us both sitting up w/feet up and watch TV together. Or we have our "separate" areas and I'll use the dinette as my day-time lounge area with my wife in the rear. We have some nice sized lap trays we use for the few times we eat in the camper. We've had our trailer (Hull #36, third owners) for about 18 months and have found this to work out very well for us. We all have our own ways of course, but again it's nice to hear about some shared views too.

  19. That is great. It's is a vast improvement over what my 2021 would have done before I tweaked the heat system. Would be interesting to test readings in the rearmost area of the garage as the pex lines there are likely the most susceptible. I'm earnestly glad for you folks that have the new upgraded system and commiserate with the rest of us of us that have to do some pretty serious surgery to have trailers that work well (= having access to water) in actual 4 season conditions.

  20. Similar experience for me also. No sweating on the walls, but it was only me. Walls felt cool, but not cold in 5-10° John

  21. If you define "extended period" as 6 days, our experience towing our new Elite II home from Hohenwald to Idaho in mid-November is instructive. We used the Varioheat furnace for 6 straight sub-freezing nights in Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Idaho, 4 of them above 4000' elevation. The overnight low on three of those nights was in the teens, and 9 degrees F once (in Colorado). The Varioheat adequately heated the cabin with the CP Plus wall control set at 68 degrees F, and more important to us, kept the underbelly of the trailer where the tanks and water lines run, above 38 degrees F. It ran almost constantly at night, which we suspect is because the trailer is not all that well insulated. It consumed about 1.5 gallons of propane per night. We figured that our two 5-gallon propane tanks allowed us to safely heat for 5 nights without refill. The exterior walls remained cold and sweated a bit, but we do not blame the furnace for that. That is to be expected where, unlike in a home, the supply air ducts are in the middle of the heated space, not along the walls. We remained warm enough (and both my wife and I like to sleep warm, so we used sleeping bags), but because we could not get very far away from the exterior walls when sleeping , we did not feel "cozy." We believe one reason the Varioheat furnace system kept the underbelly at least a few degrees above freezing is the addition of a return air vent from the bathroom to the open area under the front dinette seat. There has been extensive discussion on another thread suggesting that additional return air ducting from the cabin into the underbelly area will help improve Oliver furnace system performance. See: As my wife and I did not purchase the Oliver for winter use, we find the Varioheat furnace adequate for our needs. We do not believe it is undersized. We were just happy that it performed well enough to get us home in reasonable comfort, given our mid-November delivery date and the colder-than-average temps we encountered!

  23. Based on what my neighbor paid to have his boat ceramic coated, I'd say your prices are very fair. Starting at is reasonable. It's a ton more work to bring back a base to an older trailer. Best of luck to you, and happy new year. We'll look for you at the rv Supershow in Tampa.

  24. Or, keep using the old working regulator and carry a new one as backup.

  25. You could replace the regulator and carry the old one as a back up.

  26. The recommended grease is a regular white lithium type. It is a poor choice! Clean it out and use Redline CV2. 28. My Oliver is/was new but -- I have USAA and they actually work with Progressive for Travel Trailers so I'd follow that advice. USAA rocks. After Hurricane Ian (I'm in the hardest hit area of southwest Florida) I was evacuated by a friend to Jacksonville. USAA worked with me on the phone, and I had my settlement (for a TOTALED new truck) in hand before 3 weeks passed, and was able to replace my truck in Jacksonville. My Oliver had NO damage, because it was stored in a new facility north of me, under cover.

  29. We (moderators) zap them as soon as we see them and ban them permanently. The site admins are working to figure out why all of a sudden these last couple of days has been so bad. Mike

  30. Indeed, a lot, but I knew it was coming. I had it built into the financing and Oliver cut me the check back. I'm in CA and mine was over $6k. They (DMV) almost dinged me for another $600 late fee on the registration, but I explained my purchase was in Tennessee and I didn't ENTER Calif. until a week later. That extra day saved me $600!

  31. Before you go if it's not too late, I have a few comments and suggestions on things to try or at least narrow things down some. 1. Regarding the furnace fuse: This same 12 volt circuit powers the thermostat, directly from inside the furnace. If the thermostat display is lite up and functional, you've eliminated the fuse as a possible source of a problem. 2. Voltage: The furnace is designed to be functional when voltage is above a minimum of 9.5 volts. Based on your reported battery voltages, this isn't the issue and you should get some sign of life if the thermostat is calling for heat. 3. When everything is functioning normally, the first thing you should hear when the thermostat calls for heat is the furnace blower coming on, even if there is no gas getting to the furnace. Gas supply isn't in the equation, yet. If the blower doesn't come on, the list of causes isn't long but is somewhat dependent on the specific version furnace you have. There are basically two generations of internal controls for the Suburban model installed in early LEIIs. I'm not sure which one was being used in 2016, but the following suggestions should generally apply to either. Turn on the thermostat and set it to Furnace mode with a Set Temperature somewhat above the current temperature inside the trailer. With your ear close to the open front air outlet on the A/C overhead, turn the thermostat off and on slowly a few times and listen for a slight click sound each time. This click sound will tell you if an attempt is being made to send the thermostat request for heat to the furnace. Note that this instruction more specifically apply to the CCC2 model thermostat I believe your trailer has. (round display with discrete buttons on the left). If it is a square CT model, you may need a second person to adjust this procedure for the fiddly touch control, one to listen while the other operates. If the clicking isn't audible each time skip the rest of this paragraph. Otherwise, your next step will be at the furnace under the curbside bunk. Leave the thermostat On and set as before. Using a shoe or similar "tool", smack the top side corner edges of the furnace case a few times. (The term "smack"' is the technical description for and implies an abrupt force somewhere between a gentle tap and brutal pounding) The object here is to vibrate free a potentially stuck relay or switch dependent on the generation of furnace control. If the steps above don't get positive results, you're going to need that help for some more in depth analysis and repair. If the furnace does come to life during one of the above steps however, you may still require some help to replace either: 1. The thermostat controller in the A/C overhead. 2. The furnace blower motor time-delay relay, or air flow sail switch, again depending on which control the furnace has. Good luck.

  32. Fellow Booner... lively discussions revive the soul. Some are offended if you disagree with how the Moon rotates, which it doesn't. The longer the post, the more possibilities of improper verbs, misspelled nouns causing conflict with one another, causing a rupture within the English Departments at major Universities. I have spent more evenings in my destitute youth, sleeping on picnic tables overnight, then the next morning spend sunrise to sunset hunting fossils on Ranches in western Nebraska. A tent took too much time to set up and when driving a 1956 and stepped up to a 1964 VW Bug... with myself and a passenger, and my brother as a third person in the back... there was not much room for things, other canned Tuna, and Doughnuts. The drive from Independence, Missouri to western Nebraska was 685 miles to campsite. No more tent camping for us. Still have my first tent and our last tent. Makes my first tent over 50 years old... and at one time this tent style were used on Mount Everest by climbers. I may have to revise my estimate number for postings to Under 200, since I do not have an Oliver II, yet. And it would be foolish for a Neanderthal to burn the rope, before getting using it. Chiggers... my new friend is the curse of all insects. Oklahoma is home to the best... be good. I cannot help myself.

  34. Hello and Happy New Year from Hawaii! We hope that you had some fun last night, and got some sound sleep as well. Here in Hawaii, the locals enjoy their low power fireworks. The also REALLY love their illegal high power professional ones too. This is a video June took from our living room from just after midnight. She is facing directly towards Pearl Harbor to the west. Pretty amazing! John and June https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NKWyt_KPQBCpyehx7aYoFgcj1eGV2Ix-/view?usp=share_link
